I was also very worried about my holiday after reading these reviews. We booked Club accommodation which meant we could book in at 2pm instead of 4pm. Was very quick and effortless. No queueing at all. The room had all we required, only downside was the uncomfortable sofa bed. Looking forward to my own tonight.
Breakfast is served between 8am and 10am. There is a selection of cereals, toast and jams, and the amazing Full English!! Depending on the time you arrive it was either quiet or a large queue. This is to be expected though with the amount they have to cater for. Dinner was served between 5pm and 7pm. Again there can be queues. Always try to get there early! This was 3 courses and again there was always a variety to choose from. I often sampled a couple different dishes. The perks of half board! My compliments to the catering staff as I think they do a fantastic job!
Entertainment was ok. Could do with air conditioning in the Fun Factory though. Was very warm! I didn't stay for most nights due to my 13 month old but my 9 and 11 year old thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They didn't want to return home!
I combined several day trips into our 7 days there. Longleat and Cheddar Gorge and Caves combo ticket was a great idea! 2 days sorted there! Then Tesco Clubcard reward tokens covered the Unlimited Ride bands for my children at Brean Leisure Park! We had a day at Weston-Super-Mare also! My family will be bored now and I most certainly don't want to cook any more! lol
All in all we had a great week!!

  • Advice: Plan ahead for day trips...Longleat, Cheddar Caves, etc... Use Tesco Clubcard and research all the area online b4 you go to find the best deals!

we booked this holiday using the tokens from the Sun newspaper, upon reading these reviews before going I will admit I was not looking forward to our holiday with our two year daughter. Upon arrival we were made to wait with 100 people in the fun factory to queue up by the letter of your surname and having a two year old waiting for over one hour and half for us to receive our keys was a bit much. we originally paid for budget and our room said it all, small and dingy. We too could not believe how dated the rooms and complex was, so we upgraded to 'club' which was in a quieter part of the park (so we thought). our club room had two holes in the bedroom door punched into the them and matted hair on the carpet, the heater was hanging off the wall which we did complain about and was fixed within the hour. Pontins staff were as useful as a chocolate teapot i asked one day of a local swimming baths to which he replyed he did not know the area and didn't bother to ask anyone else, but the shop assistant in Nisa was extremley helpful and told me to go the swimming baths next door at funcity!!!!!! we decided to stick it out, but our holiday was cut short due to our neighbour kindly screaming and shouting at her five children all hours of the day, and our other neighbours having the loudest of drunken arguments most nights being from midnight till 4am, after three nights of broken sleep and fearing the safety of my daughter we felt enough was enough and came home a day early. We found alot of parents opening drinking one example taking our daughter to the playground one mother was sat on the bench watching her children whilst drinking a can of strongbow! We too also witnessed alot children being shouted at and one being smacked for not getting into her pushchair, too much for me!
plus points were the lovely restaurant across the complex called 'The Place' did very nice food and the beach which you could drive onto and pick your very own spot! this was not the holiday we thought we had booked if we had known it was going to be this bad I would not of bothered therefore I will not be every returning to Pontins.

I was dredding going after readings the reviews on here, but we did go & it actually wasn't that bad. We did have to queue for 20mins before we were given the key to the chalet. Yes the rooms were very dated & basic but for a budget room thats what I expected. It was clean tidy - nothing broken or mould anywhere, I was advised by a friend to take a blow up bed as the bed settees aren't very comfortable. We didn't use every facility onsite but what we did use was fine. It seemed a very popular place as it was very busy.
I would consider going back :)

We have just arrived back from Pontins and i am in the middle of my complaint letter for A full refund. The chalets we stayed in were disgusting. They had not been cleaned hence when we arrived we had skid marks in the toilet, hairs in the shower and around toilet and grill pan thick with grease. Apart from this all the windows were filthy, doors wouldnt fit properly and you needed a very steady hand to be able to lock the patio door without the lock falling off. No microwave, washing up bowl and the chalet bin was about the size of a small lamp shade.
I have stayed in Pontins before and although the chalts were very 'dated' we had a good time. But that was around 3/4 years ago and now the chalets need condemning.
We also had 4 broken, plastic chairs and an old ironing board, on the grass outside our chalet all the holiday.
Believe me i could go on and on. But one positive note i would say is perhaps if your planning on going regardless or have already booked then UPGRADE!!!!

This place is a dump, ALL the apartments need to be re-done,in fact the whole place needs to be knocked down and started all over again. They are never ready on time when you book in because they wont pay for the staff to do it. They really dont care about the guests or the staff for that matter. The price for food and drink are extortionate. Dont waste your money in going here, it really isnt worth it.

After booking a last minute deal over the telephone we arrived at the site which was full of drunken men and women most who looked under age, after getting key to our shed we found a pull out bed with springs sticking out windows that didnt close, marked carpets and bedding, the entertainment was a pub full of load mouth middle age men and women bar was under staffed and nearly lost my shoe on the sticky floor! The fun factory was more like a club 18 to 30 bar terrible for people there with young children. The surrounding area was just as bad drunken people walking around with cans of beer at 9 in the morning the beach had no sea and the leisure park was half closed! Words of advice stay away from the park and area!

  • Advice: knock it down and start again the park and the area needs changing!

We have stayed in Pontins for the last 3 years and i admit its not 5 star, but its value for money and you get what you pay for and my children love it. My children are 5 and 8 years of age and out of all the holidays we have had in Pontins they have not complained about anything, we have stayed in budget rooms and classic rooms both all of which have been clean and had everything we needed. Entertainment for my children is excellant and aslong as my children are happy and having fun i will continue to go to Pontins. The staff were very helpful, we needed a first aider which came straight away, at one point our neighbour needed maintenance which also arrived straight away and solved the problem. We pay a little extra to have the keys to our room early which solves the problem of everyone queueing at the same time.

I recently asked peoples advice on pontins in brean. I have just come back from a 4 nite break, I was absolutely dreading it after reading reviews but to be honest it really wasnt that bad. We paid for budget and that is basically what it is budget. We didnt add bed linen so took our own but when we got there people were handing out bedding to every chalet, so we got something for free, also you have to pay for electric but our meter already had £4.50 on and latest the whole 5 days. There are a few bad points checkin in for budget and classic wasn't to good you all line up in the club like school kids but it didnt take long to get our keys. The other thing there was a few ants which we did complain about but got told that it is a common problem around that area. i would go again just for the fact it was a good cheap holiday. I have just read reviews on here from other people and that might be the exception but not all of the rooms were like others say. Our kitchen and bathroom were tidy carpet hoovered bin emptied. It is what it says on the tin budget. If you want a palace pay more and go somewhere else. I think it is a perfect place for a family holiday.

This was probably the only weekend away me and my family will have this year so as you can imagine, we were all looking forward to our break. My 3 children were very excited. We got there on time for check-in but the staff weren't ready at that time so everyone had to wait. Once ready, we were basically herded like cattle into lines to get our keys. We then drove over to near where our chalet was as we couldnt get right to it. Once we found the chalet, I opened the door and literally nearly broke down in tears. The first thing that I can say was that you couldn't see through the doors as they were covered in mildew. Stepped throught the door to notice that the carpet stuck to our feet and the stains were everywhere. There were spiders and cobwebs in the wardrobes, slugs in the bin, even mildew on the pillows. The bedding(which we paid extra for) were all stained and didn't actually fit. I wanted to complain but as I walked over to the reception, literally every chalet was either just as bad as the one we were staying in or worse and I thought the only outcome that would come from me complaining was me getting even more worked up than I already was. So, our entire weekend was spent off site as we found everything just stinking. Didnt even eat in our accommodation as even once I cleaned the plates and things, I wouldnt use them. The fridge smelt as if something had died in there so I wouldn't put anything in there either. We did, on the last full day there, go to the swimming pool and Oh My God....I didn't think things could possibly be worse, but they were. As soon as we walked in, the changing rooms smelt of urine. Didn't want to go any further but my children would have been disappointed so we still went in. Once in there, the only thing that the kids were looking forward to,which was the slide, was closed!! Add insult to injury, the staff, well, most of them, were either very rude and ignorant or insulting and miserable. You did have the odd one which was nice.
If it wasn't for the fact that we had our children with us and were so looking forward to this holiday we would have left straight away, so we spent our entire time and a bloody fortune to entertain them out of the complex, just to make sure they all had a good time.
I am not the type of person to be nasty but I really felt I had to leave this review as if I can stop just 1 person from being disappointed, it'll be worth it.
Only reason I'm rating it a 1 and not a 0 is because 1 is the lowest.

We have just returned from a 3 night Sun Holiday half board break and we were more than satisfied with the level of accomodation and food. We nearly cancelled our holiday after reading the terrible reviews but as we only live approx 1.5 hours away from the site we decided to go and if it was as bad as expected we would come home again! We had no problem getting our keys and when it came to the bit we were dreading, ie, the accomodation, we were more than pleasantly surprised. The place, although dated, was very clean with new supplies of shower gel and soap in the bathroom. The carpet was clean and the water was lovely and hot all of the time. I agree that the sofa bed was not very comfortable but the kids loved the bunk beds and the linen was clean and new. We stayed half board and after reading stories of food poisoning I really did not want to eat anything there. However, we decided to give it a go and it was great! There was a choice of starters and a choice of 4 mains such as curry, lasagne with a choice of roasties, chips or jacket potatoes and a kids menu. There was even a carvery for sunday tea! The only negative comment I have is about the half board wristband system which needs updating as it was open to abuse on a daily basis. The staff were helpful and polite but you can see how they become disheartened. We witnessed two families who were not half board try and get a free meal and the staff now have to ask every person to see their wristband before they can serve them food. We thought the site was perfectly acceptable and the beaches are excellent. Our advice would be go and make your own mind up!
