this is a great family holiday park for the families who just want something basic and fun. This place has a huge swimming pool, bike hire, quad bikes, zip wire, climbing and abseiling wall, plus tricycle racing and go karts with built in lasers! although the rooms are bad...the sofa bed is rubbish, but the single beds are not that bad....after all i did not stay in the room all day. this park is situated in the right next to the beautiful snowdonia national park. nearby attractions include rhyl indoor waterpark, rhyl sky tower, snowdon mountain railway, llandberis electric mountain, and a must see is the beautiful waterfall- Pistyll Rhaeadr. Try to visit the seven wonders of wales, which can be found on wikipedia. the holiday park itself if cheap if you book some six months early, and although many reviews say that the place looks like a council estate......'always look on the bright side of life!

  • Advice: Great for families and people who like things to be sweet and simple

i'm 15 so many of you readers will not take m serieusly but i am old enough to see the adult side of things and the kids side as well so
shallets
they coem in 3 basic types club these are the most expensive usly very close to thje center and have for example a microwave, better tv and free electrick.
classic these are the middle prices shalets they are like the club but you have to pay for your electric and there is just a basic telly and no microwave genrally near the main base but not always
budgett is the cheepest shalet you can get this does not include bedding and are usually further away from base
yes some of them are dirty but usually of a good standerd they have got a new cleening regeme and things have got much better last time pans were layed out not just put in the cubourd ect
entertainment
this is amazing it has stuff for all ages bingo dancing kids clubs face painting pub quizzes and shows there is also a young childrens play area
the evening entertainment is fab in the fun factory there is usually bingo folowed by a childrens game show or star act then an adults quizz (sutible for kind but aimed at adults) followed with boogy with the blues ad late night disco.
in luners ther is usally a kids club with danicng and games to keep ther children entertained fololowed at about 10 by a star act for example gareth oliver, charly cerolly. there is also competitions 3 times weekly karaoke, talent, dance quest and junior blue.
there is also the arcade open from about 7 till about 1 in the morning so basicaly if someones there its open.
food
there is beach combers the resterrawnt this is of a resonable stadnerd larg mel portions at resonable prices. captin cods a chippy basicly. and the corination again resonable foodbut a bit more expensive
dinks
a bar wether it be the fun factory lunars or the corination is open all day however just becasue you cna get alcaholl all day not many poeple actually do soem people on this site have said it is a holiday for alcys and such however my family have been gping since i was 2 and my parents are fairlymuch tea total so ther goes your thery. anyway there are some good deals pn drinks for example buy a glass bring it back and get £1 re fills on pepsi diet pepsi and lemonade you can also get caractor cups for the kids there have about 80p refills of the above drinks
then there is the pontins one foot cups these derve the same drinks in a caryable bllue container thingy for about £1.50 refills all good price
there is also swimming ice skation fun fair go carting peddle bikes pgl and kids play area on site
all in all a fantastic holiday as i say we have been going since i was 2 went for 8 holidays there this year book next year and i am doing my work expirience there so it not al all bad in our opinion
thank you for reading if any offence was maid it was not intended

We stayed at Pontins through a sun holiday deal 3 nights, we travelled as 4 adults and 1 child.. check in was very quick room number 210, and we were showed on a map where our apartment was, couldnt believe how many apartments there actually were!!
Got to our room and after reading the reviews on here we took our own bedding, cleaning products, cutlery.. BUT we did not need any of this kitchen area was very clean and tidy so was very relieved.!
The beach was a 5 minute walk and the little one loved it, very clean and miles of sand would be lovely in the summer, we spent out evenings in the Queen Victoria pub as it was half term and their was a big dance competition going on so as our little one likes running around it was better to stay in the quieter of the 2, there was quiz, karoke, music etc.. they had big characters, our little one had her picture with casper you can buy the pictures too as a souvenier. The entertainment staff were brilliant and really got involved!! we had a fish and chip on site and took some food to cook in the apartment the cooker did not look like it had ever been used!
I'd say the only 1 negative was the swimming pool where people had just dumped dirty nappies on the floor in there, and could do with a lick of paint..!
The park area was clean and kids loved it, staff were all very friendly, security staff were on entrance to the park, we enjoyed our holiday here and were pleased for the price we paid!! x

After arriving it took us ten minutes to find our apartment as the signs for numbers to the apartments where not clear after booking a budget appartment I decided to up grade to club only to find that when we got there it was filthy and we could of quite easily come home after all it was a holiday. There was a iron burn on the carpet in living area the beds in the bedrooms stunk of wee I ended up going to morrissons to get cleaning stuff the kitchen well what can I say the oven was gross there was grease still in the Oven tray and on the wire rack the cups I washed before we used them. The bath was so small my son even hated it and u had to keep pressing the shower to keep it on and it is so not sfe for children as it gets so hot we will not ever go back their and would not recommend to friends or family. The swimming pool well we walked in and walked back out

We went through the sun deal. We had worryingly seen the watchdog programme and were seriously thinking about booking elsewhere. But thought would give it a go armed with our own bedding. I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of our accomodation and used the linen provided. yes it is basic but its not a 4 star hotel is it! We didnt use the entertainment as were using it as a cheap base to explore north wales. I must say the pool looked a bit dated and not as good as those I have seen at other holiday camps.

Just got back from a weekend break at pontins. We read the reviews before going and was considering not goin as they were so bad, however we were quite surprised it actually wasnt that bad. The chalet was very basic but had everything we needed the pull out sofa bed was very uncomfortable but we just slept in the single beds. The cleanliness of the chalet was OK could have been better but we took antibacterial spray and cleaned it ourselves so we knew it had been done. The blue coats are great the kids had a wicked time. There was also another club that opened at 11 for the adults the entertainment in there was also really good. We booked our break with the SUN and the total cost for a 3 night break was £86 so for the money we paid we think it was adequate. We had a fantastic time and would defenatly go back!... so as for people that complained about the state of the place YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! This holiday is for workin class families and is a typical budget holiday not a 5 star hotel.

Myself and my partner went here on a Sun £9.50 deal so it was very cheap. I read all the reviews on here before we left and I seriously considered not going. We called Pontins before we left and told them our concerns and were assured if we were unhappy in any way then they would upgrade us or refund our money. We arrived on 8/10/10 and laffed at the prisoner of war camp layout..it didnt look great I must admit. When we collected our keys we hd been given a free upgrade which was nice and when we entered our chalet I was pleasantly surprised. Yes it was very sparsly furnished but it was also CLEAN. Thats all I wanted after reading these reviews "A CLEAN CHALET". We werent really here for the Pontins experience we were just using it as a base for exploring North Wales so it suited us perfectly.
The only comlaint I had about the chalet was the sofa/bed. It had seen better days and as it was pretty sunken, we ended up using 2 single beds in one of the bedrooms whilst we were there. We also tried the entertainment on a couple of nights and as it was probably more suited to kids which we dont have we didnt really rate it much. The Bluecoats were great with the kids and really tired to keep them entertained.
ALl in all we had a great break and whilst I agree with a few of the reviews on here I really enjoyed myself but a holiday is what you make of it I suppose.
Yes the place needs brought up to date but for the price we paid and the purpose we used it for it was ok.

i went for a break from monday-friday with my boyfriend and baby boy. we really enjoyed it. we were in club class chalet and it wasnt perfect but it was good enough for us to stay in during the time we were there. the kitchen items such as cutlery, plates and cooking equipment werent brilliant, like the cereal bowls were very small but we coped as everything else wasnt too bad at all.everything was pretty clean. the only problem i found with this place was that there is no baby changing facilities in the h20 zone (swimming pool). i tought it wouldve done with it being as family site. all in all we had a really good few days, the entertainment at night is really good. we had a real laugh. i would reccomend pontins at prestatyn sands to anyone its a good fun break!!!

Upon arrival the staff would not give us entry because their admin staff had made a mistake with the names. Our first mistake was to insist that we were given entry. Unfortunately they allowed us on site and that was the beginning of our woes. The Chalet was filthy. There was not enough crockery or eating utensils. We were given plastic vending machine cups to drink out of. One of our Chalets was burgled and various items were stolen. We believe it was a member of staff but cannot prove it.
It was so bad that we were going to leave on the first night on site. However we stayed because were were having an annual family get together. ONE OF OUR PARTY SUFFERED FROM BITES AFTER SLEEPING IN ONE OF THE BEDS IN OUR CHALET. THEY WERE BEDBUG BITES. The chalet number was 559 so please avoid this one. This place is disgusting and should be closed down. I cannot stress how bad this place is. I do not have the vocabulary

New born baby meant we couldn't travel abroad so thought we'd try a British break for once...
Arrived on a Monday morning around 12:30. Already a huge que of people waiting to check in. Only 4 staff trying to book in what looked like well over 100 people already waiting!
Seperate que for club class but only 1 person on the desk so this que went slower than the standard que's who had paid less!
Got to the room around 13:15 (yes all that time waiting!) and first thing we noticed was the damp/musty smell. Clean (supposedly) beb linnen had been thrown on the sofa - not even folded. Floor was sticky like it had been mopped with dirty water. No door on the wardrobes and curtains full of stains.
NO proper double bed - they had a double sofa bed which stunk like grannies pants and was very badly stained.
After seeing pictures of a friends room (who didn't book club class) - only difference in the rooms is club class have patio doors!
A lot of the facilities were closed like the go karts and chippy. Main dining hall had been plastered but not even re painted!
Tokens which you are given as club class for your meals contained small print stating: half board only entitled you to a meal of certain value to which you would have to pay extra if you went over that limit. Obviously Pontins don't grasp the meaning of half board - that your breakfast and dinner are free without any HIDDEN costs!
General class of people using the resort was low. Mostly the typical council style, shameless type who were already getting drunk in the entertainment area when we arrived!!!
These are probably the opnly people who are giving a decent report on here... and THATS the reason why. Great place if you want to let your kids run wild so you can get sloshed! proper drinking mans resort this was.
Didn't even unpack... went straight back to reception and got a full refund. People in front of me were getting refunds and people behind me were quing to get refunds. In the 20 minutes it took me to wait for mine, around 15 people did the same!
Holiday cost £560 for 4 nights, half board, club class. Went straight to Blackpool, stayed at Big Blue, had a great time and only cost me an extra £80 in total.
I have nothing to gain from this - I'm sat here on a Saturday afternon wasting my personal time ONLY to warn other decent people against this place. It was OK for me to make the mistake of going because I had transport and funds to go elsewhere. Others may not be so lucky...
This place was probably great in the 60's when they filmed "On The Buses" but sadly it hasn't changed since then!!!
Looked like a council estate and the so called "fair" was 4 rides big... smaller than the ones you occasionally get in your local park!
PATHETIC!!!

we read reviews before we went but decided to give it the benefit of doubt. However if we hadnt had booked club class, we wouldnt have stayed there. Our room was VERY basic, there isnt even doors on the wardrobes, the bathroom was grubby and everytime we tried to eat a meal at the table it toppled about. There was a horrible smell inside the bars and lounges, it smelt like pee!! Everywhere was grubby and old, bins were always over flowing !!! My son of 11yrs had limited things to do unless you paid for the activities like quad bikes etc (they were good and well organised )On the whole we found it expensive and truthfully wish we hadnt booked it.
