There's no end of entertainment and activities for all ages, including fantastic games and supervised activities for the kids. I have just come back from Pontins Prestatyn Sands and had mixed feelings about the place.
I went with 2 kids my partner and me. The kids loved it loads of activities to keep them entertained, but I personally found the whole site out dated.
We stayed in the Classic Apartments which were really dirty, the floors looked like they hadn't been washed for months, and furniture was dusty and smelly, as soon as you walked in the door the whole apartment smelt damp.
The only good thing about the apartment was the bed linen was clean, or I would not have slept there.
I could not bear to eat in the apartment as it was that dirty.
We ate outside the site most nights as the food didn't look very appetising in the restaurant. The night entertainment was good, most of the time.
If I was to go again I would stop in the Club apartments as they looked really nice.

Hi just got back from Pontins, with very mixed feelings.
My three boy’s aged9, 7, 5 loved every minute. Activities are fantastic also the entertainment is the best ever we loved it.
The diner is awful. However I remember a bloke called Frankie he was very cheerful.
The pool is very nice and it’s clean. The apartment was classic and as soon as you walk in the smell is foul, I couldn’t eat there it was making me bad.
It was reasonably clean though but all the bedding was damp and we were that cold the kids ended sleeping with us.
There is a lot of noise in the middle of the night but after all you are on holiday, what do you expect.
I would like to go again but the smell of that apartment may have put me off.

Having read some reviews I have to agree and disagree with some of them.
We really enjoyed are stay at this camp (Prestatyn) much so this was our 2nd visit, we had a holiday here in May 2005 as well.
On this visit (September)we took my disabled Grandmother and having only ever been on holidays in caravans, she was just as impressed as us, with the help we got while changing chalets as we needed a bottom floor one.
She was just as impressed in the chalets cleanliness and the activities for the children, we very rarely saw them during the day unless they ran out of money.
The only thing we would like to see is more lighting from the chalets to the club, as she was disabled she found it hard to walk with her stick.

Went to Prestatyn Pontins, went in classic accommodation this time. I was a bit apprehensive about going, as I been to Hemsby a couple of years ago.
The accommodation and grounds Hemsby were ok, but most of the staff seem like a bunch of amateurs and didn't have a clue (obviously some did). Entertainment was rubbish, although the kids enjoyed themselves.
Prestatyn, although we went later in the year, seemed a lot more professional and entertainment was better.
However, the accommodation was just ok, the cleaners, who I believe are contracted, could do a better job. Some of the stuff like cooker was dirty.
However, my mum was in a wheelchair and they did provide a ramp for her.

Well what can I say, we went to Prestatyn and we were meant to be budget, but my mother went with us.
As she was in a wheel chair, they were going to put us up the stairs to a chalet, but when we told them that my mother was disabled, they really helped us and up graded us to classic.
They where really helpful and the place was spotless. The only thing that was wrong was I had to stay sober! It was myself wife and 2 kids 7 and 5 they - loved it!
We would go back without hesitation.

What a fantastic holiday, my 2 older children had a great time and my 10 month old seemed happy.
Cannot believe some of the reviews I have read on this site. Will go again, can’t wait for the next time.
The things for the children to do is great, they will never get bored, the night time entertainment is good for all ages, so pay no attention to the bad reviews we stayed in classic and would do again.
So book your holiday and have a great time.

I went a couple of years ago with my partner and two children, I see nothings changed from what I have read. It's all true.
If you have the basic accommodation which we had and usually have, it was dreadful, dirty and smelly they had even cabled tied the windows shut, the bed settee I would not have let the dog sleep on.
I'm not any body posh but I do like things clean, but what I got was such a shock a was gob smacked with what they were offering.
I decided to complain to the manager who seamed to be used to complaints. We had the chance to change rooms but we had to pay an extra £20 for the up grade or your money back. I did not wan't to go home, my kids were so fed up I agreed and in the end, he did offer free electric for that week.
Once we had the up grade it was much better. Cean and tidy with clean sheets. Oh but the bed was broke and I had the worst sleep that week I had ever had.
The place in general was ok. The out side park for the little kids was on the main road with only bushes separating the kids from the road, you could not take your eyes of them at all.
On a good note, the activities for my oldest child were fantastic, he did quad biking absailing, archery- he was pleased. But you had to be four to go in the soft ball pit area and my daughter who was three wanted to go in so badly and was not allowed.
I could keep going on but I have said enough. It's ashame, the place just needs some TLC. I wont be booking again. Go if you dare...

We stayed at the prestayn Pontins Park for the weekend of the 24th November. It is disgusting, we had won a free weekend so luckily we were not paying any of our money.
The site is tired, outdated and filthy. The staff look like they would rather be else where and appeared to have no training in people skills.
We did not get any sleep for the two nights as kids and adults with no consideration for others, were running about outside the apartments until gone 3am, when we complained the next day we were very rudely dealt with.
The apartment was old and dirty, the bed settee had seen better days. The carpet had all sorts of filth on that we kept our shoes on! The bathroom floor had mould growing in the corner. I honestly could go on... and on.
It’s ironic that I have found this site just as I was looking for Pontins address so I could write and complain to them. Wish me luck.

After reading the comments on here, after I'd booked, I took my bleach and was all geared up for complaining about the accommodation... however it wasn't actually that bad!
I am a clean person, not tidy, but clean, and although the accommodation (1 bedroom) was very basic (does need updating) it was clean, so was the fridge, cooker etc. We didn't use the draining board - that was a little discoloured and I wasn't 100% - but overall was clean.
The beds where comfy, although my friend would disagree as she doesn't like them firm, the bed settee wasn't the greatest - but hey, what can you expect from a bed settee in budget accommodation?
The entertainment was brilliant! Couldn't fault it one bit. The food on site was a bit expensive for what it was - I'd definitely take more self catering things next time.
I'm looking to book again.

When we arrived reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our budget chalet was just basic, but clean.
The PGL team were really nice and friendly, loads of activities for my 2 sons aged 12 and 9 to keep them occupied. They especially enjoyed abseiling (even dad too).
Spent all 3 nights in the lunars bar which was quite good entertainment, although the bar prices were sky high. Bar staff were friendly and place was clean. Blue coats were really good keeping all the kids entertained.
Only had 1 fault while there which was with the wall heater which started putting out lots of smoke, but went to report it straight away at reception and an electrician came straight away and sorted it out.
Overall we had a really good weekend at Pontins and will be visiting again soon.

My wife and I went to Pontins in Blackpool in 1987 and were disgusted by the accommodation there as we were half board. We swore that we would never visit a Pontins camp site again. Years later when the kids started arriving, we thought we would go to Prestatyn as surely they couldn't still be as bad. Boy were we wrong.
Firstly when we arrived, we got an immediate picture of what the holiday was going to be like by the state of the buildings and lack of activities to be seen. I reassured my family that I would seek out the escape officer at the earliest opportunity and we collected our keys after having to hang around for two hours in their grubby communal area.
As a commercial carpet cleaner by profession, I get to work in a lot of rental properties, some good, some decent and some where I wouldn't leave my dog. As soon as we entered our chalet, we were met with a dirty kitchenette area with hard flooring and dirt around the skirting boards. I immediately likened this to the worst of my rental properties I work in. The bathroom was bad with again dirt around the skirting and rust under the sink, and the floor still had paint spatters on. The wallpaper was broken in places and had been badly patched up.
The bedroom carpets were marked and there were stains on the mattresses. The carpets in the club areas were dirty and covered every inch or so in sticky chewing gum. The entertainment is crap, and in the singing competition was rigged by the blue coats as a contestants relative was allowed to be a judge. When challenged, the blue coat wasn't interested. The swimming pool was also dirty and original. When we walked outside we heard a couple on the balcony above us complain and they were moved.
Talking to the lady from two chalets away she told me that this was their second time there and they brought their own cleaning materials with them??????? Also their neighbour had been ill in bed for three days with an upset stomach. I wish that I had complained now but felt that I did not want to spoil my kid’s holiday so I didn't. My wife wanted to leave after 3 days but talked her into staying.
The grey plastic chairs in the dining area were scruffy and one broke on me. How do they expect 7 people to sit in this small area with only one sofa? Also the cost to hire a bike for 45 minutes is about £16, what a rip off. Talking to the maintenance man, he told me that whatever money is left in credit in the electric meter, it will be removed forcing the next tenant to buy more.
My advice to anybody thinking of going here is don’t waste your money. Why do the newspapers not do an undercover feature?

Just come back from Pontins prestatyn sands, me and my husband no kids had a really good time. The rooms were spotless and the entertainment was brilliant and the pool was fab.
The surrounding area is beautiful, we visited the great orm [great cable car ride] Mountain zoo at colwyn bay and caernarvon castle. Really good value for money and will definately be going again.

Before I went I did read these review pages but I thought oh it can’t be that bad. When we arrived I thought what have I come to it looked like a hell hole, and to my surprise when got into the apartment it was.
The bathroom absolutely stunk and my children refused to have a bath the bath it was that dirty. At night the bedroom smelt like mould and the pull out bed had big holes in it, we couldn’t even sleep. The only thing good about this holiday was the fact that I took my car and was able to leave early.
I only paid for budget but you still expect a liveable apartment. My advice would be don’t go!

After paying a substantial amount of money for my Pontins break I arrived to what can only be described as land with old wooden shacks that needed to be knocked down.
The hygiene was unbelievable, it was disgusting and the staff didn't want to know!
I could go on and on forever. My advice; save you money or spend it wisely.

I saw this website before my holiday and contacted Pontins about my concerns and they said I would be given Apartments in their customer care block.
We stayed in Classic accommodation and although it was very basic which is what we were expecting, it was clean. I have stayed in lots of similar places (Butlins, Haven etc.) and this was one of the cleanest. None of these places are ever as clean as your own homes but the important things were clean such as the kitchen and bathroom.
It would be nice if places like this went that one step further and made sure that the cleaners pulled out the beds every so often and gave the carpet a hoover, it would make all the difference.
We didn't spend much time on the resort as there is a lovely beach within walking distance and the weather was fantastic but there is lots of things for children of all ages to do and all the staff were very friendly, especially Adam who ran the little motor cars most of the time.
We are thinking of booking again for next year but will probably go Club as they looked nice and not sure if we would be put in Customer Care again.
