After reading the appaling reviews about Pontins, Prestatyn, I almost cancelled going as I thought Oh my God this is going to be really awful. However, after calling we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. We travelled down from southern Scotland on Friday 6th May 2011 and when we arrived there we thought ok it looks like a holiday camp. Loads of appartments one on top of each other. We got to our apartment and it was clean, a bit worn round the edges but spotlessly clean! We couldnt fault the place at all. My 4 year old grandaughter had a blast! She loved it. Yes the entertainment was cheesy but its for kids. Its a holiday camp for goodness sake! Yes its seen better days but it cant be that bad as loads of people were there. There was some noise but not a lot. In fact I have stayed at worse places abroad than this. Please dont believe all the reviews you read. Dont set your expectations too high and your kids will love it! No its not perfect but its ok!!! Give the place a chance!!!

we stayed 29th july to 2nd august 2011.
Myself and my old flatmate(both age 43)and my son (age 7)
I had read the reviews before hand and knew we had a bargain with the sun coupons, so hoped for the best.
Check in took a good half hour in the queue, we were in budget apartment (one of a thousand by the look of it)
kitchen was clean enough,masses of ovenware and crockery.hair in plug hole in shower though.
No easy chairs, just a dreadful pull out bed to sit on. considering this apartment was meant for four, only sat two. only 3 springs left out of eight, dreadfully uncomfortable.
2 undersized beds in bedroom, mould behind both.
however, seven is the right age to have a great time here. we loved the pool, warm and clean. 5-7 YEARS football lessons, snooker competition, bike riding etc, we loved the arcades! would def come again, but only in club class, could not stay in budget again.

We are 2 pensioners on a coach trip, chalets filthy, mattresses stained, carpets not fit to walk on without shoes. Disgusting.

me and my hubby booked this thur the sun hoildays.we wanted to go to a haven orignally but had to settle for pontins.i did read reviews and thought it cant be that bad how wrong was i.we were upgrade from a budget to classic now if a classic that disgusting did they upgarde us from a shed i wonder.there was stains over all the carpets we had ants. everywhere was dirty the cleanest part was the grill inside the cooker that shows people don't cook in this hellhole.the bed settee stank of pee.if it wasn't for the lovely beach nearby i would of gone home early.when i told the staff on day of leaving i didn't even get a sorry.just i will pass it on to cleaning staff.do not go here no matter how cheap the hoilday is.it the worst hoilday park ever.

After a 6 hour journey we arrived at Prestatyn Sands, Pontins. When we arrived at reception we were given an automatic upgrade, great so we thought. When we finally found the apartment we opened the door and was hit by the strong smell of stagnent fags. We walked in and our shoes stuck to the floor because it was so stinking. The kitchen worktops were covered in breadcrumbs and not cleaned. The bathroom had so much mould and filth it stank! The bed settee was filthy to touch but worst of all we had to sleep on that! The springs had gone and it was like sleeping on iron bars. Most of the outside entertainment was closed, the acrade centre had not been hoovered in many years and the whole place was depressing and very sad. After staying the 1 night we could not possibly stay any longer and checked out at 9am the next morning. Whilst waiting to speak to the duty manager there was a line of other holiday makers all making the same complaints. What was amusing was that the reception had a maintenace book on the counter ready for the complaints and was listing all the problems to go on a waiting list to be dealt with! The duty manager agreed with my complaints and apologied and was given a full refund. This was the worst holiday we have ever experienced and was very disappointed.I do have pictures of the bathroom but for some reason they will not upload?

We booked here due to no other places available and since we wanted to take the kids on holiday, we had no other option. Brochure gave the impression it was clean, child friendly and a lovely holiday for everyone. This couldnt have been further from the truth. When we got there, we were told we had got a free upgrade, but were totally shocked when we eventually found our "so called chalet" there was rubbish all over the grass (including a sanitary towel) Bear in mind this is meant to be a child-friendly place.
The room was basic, very dirty and simply disgusting. The sofa bed was broken and even after calling maintenence out to look at it, was horrendous to sleep on. (Springs were broken and missing and rubbish pushed down the back) We were meant to stay till Friday (29th, but due to lack of simple hygiene and facilities, we left 2 days earlier than planned and were so glad to come home. Would avoid at all costs (unless you actually like living in Edwardian slums)
Never used any of the kids activities except outdoor play area and spend most of the days as far away as possible from the site.

I booked a holiday to pontins and I can only describe it as the worst holiday I was ever on. The place was so dirty and our appartment was a terrible. The pool ws closed when we went to use it. We spent the holiday driving around to other near by places because there was no way we were staying there the food was awful and the staff were so unfriendly I have never been to such a dump before, I can only call it a slum. There was dirty underware outside out appartment where the kids were expected to play and the other holiday makers were goin mad also one woman left early after travelling from Ireland like us. I have since used key camp holidays and went to holland which the kids really enjoyed with full use of there parks and a brilliant pool for the kids they had a ball. Im so sorry I didnt read the pontins reviews before I went there because they were all so bad. Please let this warn u before u waste ur money on such a dump. It was such a waste of money and the kids hated every second of it.

My Family and I have just come back from a four day stay at pontins and we had a great time all the staff were friendly and very helpful. But what has made the holiday for us was the bluecoats they have a lot to contend with from the little kids pulling their hair to being poked in the ribs but they always have a smile and keep going until the last person leaves the club at the end of the night. Not only do they have to smile but they also work hard putting shows on for the guests and i can tell you that the shows that i saw at prestatyn this last week would have taken some doing to arraned the dancing and the singing that the bluecoats did would have taken weeks to have practised and to have got right. So Again may I say A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE BLUECOATS FOR KEEPING US ENTERTAINED.

Got off to a good start with a free upgrade. The chalet was nice & clean & had all utensils etc required for self-catering.
The swimming pool was probably the best I've come across on holiday, beautifully heated.
The only criticisms I have were of a rubbery fried egg & the mattress mechanism of the sofa bed being shot at although the latter wasn't a problem as there were only two of us so used the bedroom.

Were booked for a 4 night stay and left after 2 and this was only because we couldn't get booked in anywhere else until the Wednesday night or we would have left earlier!
We were upgraded and the room we ended up in was disgraceful. I dread to think what we would have been in.
I didn't feel safe as the door didn't seem to lock well and the bolt from inside didn't fit the latch. It was filthy and really cold (that was when you were inside the apartments!) The sofa bed my husband & I had felt like there was no mattress and you were sleeping on the iron frames. The curtains blew in the wind without the windows being opened. I didn't let the kids take off their socks and walk around barefoot.
The entertainment was ok but the hall was smelly with sticky floors and the carpets in the amusement area hadn't seen a hoover or cleaner in decades!!
The enteratainment for the kids i.e zip wire, adventure playground, trampolines etc were poor. Zip wire wasn't open, adventure playground was minimal, you can find bigger in new housing estates and the pool left a lot to be desired. It looked dirty and unkept with 4 strsight slides which wouldn'T keep the kids happy.
It definately was not worth a 4 night stay.
Very disappointed will not be recommending to others or returning myself.
