Jul 2011, me me

just come back from 2 nights stay have been here once before accomodation is very basic quite poor . Kitchen wasnt very clean & the pull out sofa bed was awful most uncomfortable bed ever i ended up sleeping in with the kids & leaving my poor hubby in the living room.On a good note the pool is realy good 3 slides in the big pool & a small slide in the little pool the water was warm & changing rooms are clean . The indoor play area is good & the entertainment at night is good with plenty for the children .we where on the ground floor 7 the neighbours where very noisy. They need to upgrade the appartments or knock them down & rebuld them

Cheap and cheerful, that's what Pontins is all about. If you want luxury put your hand in your pocket and dig deeper.
The only thing that I really had a problem with was rowedy drunken families and their equally rowdy offsprings! Apart from that no problems.

We stayed at this camp for only one evening (thank god) and that was too much . It cost my fiance £79 for classic 2 bed chalet . The chalet was filthy you had to wipe your feet on way out as the concrete walk way outside was cleaner than the carpet inside the chalet . When we got into the chalet we didn't expect to have to buy electricity tokens so we could have power . My fiance tried to purchase a token as we had children with us including a ten mnth old baby so needed kettle to make formula milk , the machine that issued these tokens was broken . The camp resembled a scene out of shameless and had similar characters staying too . My 12 year old daughter actually burst into tears as some of the guests walking round scared her so much . PLEASE PLEASE avoid going to this place it was like spending a night in hell .

My family and i have been to pontins prestatyn the last 2 yrs and are booked to go again on the 25th july,, all i can say is this is a great family holiday with everything you would expect from a brittish holiday camp.My children loveit there ages are 15 & 10 and we always have a great time. Only downside is the matress on the bed settee which i have seen mentioned alot on this site and hopefully pontins will deal with this issue. All in all a great place for familys and i will continue to go there yr after yr just try it for yourself and dont always judge a book by its cover.

  • Advice: give it a try great holiday for familys.

We have just come back from This place and it was expensive the signs were misleading and as for the ice skating rink that is advertised in the brochure is rubbish as that has been removed..
There was no way 70 free activities for the children to do..
The evening entertainment was good but found the bluecoats to be very choosey about who they would pick for certain activities instead of being fair...
Wouldnt go back and the idea of paying for a the hire of a microwave i found appaling!!

I would just say do not go to this pontins, we don't drive, but we thought that there would be so much on that wouldn't matter... well it is supposed to be for kids, but there is hardly anything on, the baby play area is dirty and there is hardly anything there!
we payed half boared for two adults and a 9 month old, there was nothing for her to eat, one night we gave her tuna mayonnaise and carrots because the shop only sold baby DESERTS! (doesn't sell baby milk either)the food made me and my baby poorly, we had to buy her baby food at the end of the week, and we even missed a few meals they were that bad.
the accommodation was filthy, i've never suffered with allergys but never sneezed so much in my life from the dust! the shower.. haha, you had to press it in and it was on for 20 seconds, then press again (like public toilet taps)
all in all, for what we paid we could of gone all inclusive abroad somewhere that catered for our baby.
bottom line, do not go to pontins

for the last 20 years i have used the sun holidays and have always gone to a haven site in a caravan. i have cause to only complain once and that was the caravan they gave us hadnt been cleaned,, it still had stuff in from previous guests...but we were moved immediately... anyway i thought for a change i would try pontins BAD CALL..our first impression when arriving was OMG rows upon rows of army style barracks.. built in the 70s and still stuck in the 70s... the chalet thank goodness was clean [give them a bit of credit], but the 2 seater sofa bed was grubby broken and hurt like hell to sleep on..the dining chairs were old plastic blue or grey school chairs..couldnt even match them !!!.basic cooking equipment but no bottle opener , potoato peeler or microwave...something which is always in the caravans...the bathroom had the 70s colour suite of green, but mismatched toilet seat ..no shower..i guess i have been spoilt on the haven sites as i would expect at least a shower...anyway 1st night all the power went off aparantly this happens regularly and the engineer/handyman had to turn the fuses back on down the road..then the hot water system packed up,,luckily he gave us a key to the empty apartment above to use the bath for the kids..we took advantage of this, 2 of us from the sofa bed used the bedroom upstairs for the night..another bad call, the women in the room nextdoor were up til 3 30 am banging swearing shouting over the balcony, music blasting..talk about neighbours from hell, we called security twice who came out but basically just asked them to keep quiet...this didnt happen, poor family directly underneath were crying and begging this women to pipe it down as her kids couldnt sleep..[luckily my lot had brought ear plugs so it drowned out a bit of noise].the windows are all single paned so everything is heard...as for the rest of the site we did go into the pub onsite but sat for 5 mins and left, the seating had the material ripped off and holes in the foam, it too was dirty...tried the kids entertainment room but gave up after 30 mins, terrible..i normally read the review sites myself and think oh it cant be that bad and go anyway, but PLEASE if you want a decent holiday dont go to pontins choose haven instead.. i will never ever recommend pontins to anyone..if you want to go and get ******, dont care about what you sleep on, not bothered about noise and neighbours from hell then this is the place for you, youll have a great time with all the other loud mouthed chavs that fill the place letting their kids run riot in pajamas at 6 am in the morning..GOOD LUCK..you've been warned..

Disgusting and health hazard!

Booked for a 3 night break, stayed for 2, we just couldnt bare another one! The chalet was filthy, we upgraded so I would presume the budget ones were on the same par as a dog kennel (actally Ive seen some pretty nice kennels, so maybe not) carpet was absolutely disgusting, thank god my daughter is walking and not a toddler crawling, otherwise would of had to take her for a tetanus shot. We decided that the most suitable word to describe the "holiday camp" was more like a "concentration camp" and equally agreed that it should house either prisoners or illegal immigrants!! I can assure you I will NEVER be going back, NOT EVER and will hopefully read in the not too distant future that the place has been closed down for health and safety reasons, seriously how are they still open??? You would be better on holiday and less likely to catch something in Belarus! Does anybody inspect these types of places anymore?? I presume not.

My partner and myself have just returned today from a 4 night stay. We took 2 people with learning difficulties with us for a holiday and they loved it. They stayed up until after 1am every morning dancing in Lunars bar. We went half board and were very pleased with the choice of food and the quality. It was well worth going half board because you can eat plenty at breakfast and not have to eat again until the late meal.
We had a classic chalet and it was clean with the beds made up with lovely white sheets. The bluecoats are very friendly and work hard to put on their brilliant shows. There were workmen doing up some of the chalets and also in Fun Factory the carpets were being cleaned. The only negative comment that I have would be that the drinks are very expensive on site.
I have been coming to this site for the past 40 and have never had a bad holiday, so all I can say is try it for yourself you could be pleasantly surprised.

  • Advice: Don't listen to all the bad reviews, make up your own mind. Visit Prestayn market on a Tuesday.

We travelled 2 adults 2 children both aged 7 on train from the midlands, it was so easy on the train and only a 10min walk from the station to pontins.
On arrival we were shown were we could leave our bags so not having to trail them round with us all day, the reception staff were very kind and helpful and made us very welcome as soon as we stepped into pontins.
Our appartment was clean and tidy with new curtains!!
The 2 boys loved there weekend. The bluecoats do a fantastic job and are fab with the kids and they do not get enough credit for what they do!!
All in all we had a star holiday and in my opinion you get what you pay for if you want bigger appartments then pay the extra!!
We will be going back :)
