disappointed

in comparrison to other holidays spent at southport pontins, this was the most disappointing time spent there. the bluecoat shows were good and professional, however there were too many shows. one show was unbelievable, a christmas show, in june with christmas songs being sung encouraging ordiance participation. another disappointment was only two professional acts in seven days, the act advertised for the friday, carlo santana didn,t appear, when questioned the blue coat said he thought he was to appear then a shrug of the shoulders said it all. the audience participation shows went on too long and ended up boring. the fetching of items from the audience, including false teeth was seen over thirty years ago at various pontins camps. the final degradation came at the end of our holiday, as we stripped the bedding as we always do, to assist chalet personel, blood stains were found on two of the duvets. these should have been replaced by chalet service as the stains appeared to be recent and heavy. my wife in particular was upset by this. on returning home i sent a letter to southport head office who chose not to answer, hence my comments via reviews.

  • Advice: check items, cuttlery etc, also bedding, any problems report to reception immediately.

we have just returned from a weekend in pontins , after reading the reviews i was dreading it! however, our chalet was clean, had tea/coffee items and new curtains. We did have to make our own bed but not a massive deal for us.staff were all pleasant and happy to help. You could see while there that the camp is being updated. Not much to do for evening entertainment for kids but kept busy during the day with pool and bouncy castles. Food very good price great! staff serving food-brilliant really took the time to speak to our son.Id happily return but dont think there is enough to do to stay a full week.Dont be put off by some reviews, its basic, its clean and any problems there is someone on the gates 24hours a day that will help.

*i would love to give zero but i couldnt
one tip: dont go to pontins southport in the first place.
it was a very disappointing holiday.
we stayed in a club apartment, but this review states otherwise!!!!
probably the worst problem was the reception staff. One young woman kept us waiting for around 50 minutes when we came to complain! i was probably most unimpressed with the fact many reception staff were too ashamed to come out and serve the complaining guests! we were repeatedly told that we could not talk to anybody about our problems yet others were told otherwise!!! my family were not the only ones complaining however, one person was even complaining that they had an upper floor apartment even though they had two disabled people in their group!!! they left immediately, i thought this was appalling.
it was also advertised that there was going to be a funfair at pontins southport; but there wasnt, apparently there used to be one but it had closed down, but they were still advertising it!!!
the swimming pool was another thing that was very disappointing; it was dirty and dishevelled. You apparently had to book for water walkers but the lifeguards, who were very lazy were being very friendly to 2 girls and let them attend water walkers without booking!!! the lifeguards started the activities sometimes half an hour late!!! an when they did start you got a very small amount of time to do the activity sometimes only 4 minutes, when there was only 4 people participating, when it was supposed to be and hour slot!!!
there was also no first aid staff!!! once playing mini golf i was it in the lip with a club and there was no first aiders to assist!!!
there was also not many activities for under 5's and the majority of activities you had to pay for!!!
in my apartment we had a dirty, stained carpet, a broken toilet, a broken toilet roll holder, no toilet roll, no clean bedding, not enough utensils, the fire assembly point had been rubbed off and many, many more!!! we were in a club apartment as well!!!
at pontins, they make a lot of money out of adults through alcohol and bingo!!!
i also found it was a bit pointless how all the popular and classic apartments had been revamped unlike the club apartments. At a look i would say the popular apartment were the best and club the worst!!!
the pontins blue coats are also hardly ever seen, unlike at butlins where they are everywhere!!!
the beach was the best part of my holiday even though it wasnt even the part of the resort!!! although it was cold and wet!!!
the food however was adequate compared to the other attractions, although it was cold, boring and repetitive.
do not waste your money to go to pontins!!!
i would recommend this to no one if it was not totally revamped and transformed!!!
following my holiday i can understand how pontins became bankrupt!!!
my mother even commented if what we were staying in (club) then popular must be in a field judged on the apartment!!!

After reading all the reviews I was dreading a long weekend away with 5 of my friends and our 9 children, ranging from 2-14 yrs, as I had organised it and didnt want them to be dissapointed.
We all had a great time, the accomodation was basic but clean, its not a 5* hotel, if thats what you want go elsewhere. £15 per person for 3 nights was a steal! We had a very small isuue with one of our chalets not having linen but this was sorted out without any problem.
The entertainment was great, kids loved the childrens shows and the bluecoats, the adult entertainment was ok too. Plenty to do on site, lots of activities, make sure you book in advance to get on things like water walkerz, the swimming pool was great. Unfortunately it was raining the whole time we were there so couldnt do everything we wanted, like go karting, crazy golf, wall climbing etc.
Prices are very reasonable in the bar, shop, SFC (like kentucky) and the restraunt. I found the chippy to be expensive and were out of fish at tea time when we arrived.
We cooked in the chalet most days to keep costs down.
The beach is on the doorstep and southport with pleasurelnd and splashworld is a short drive away with regular buses from just outside the camp.
We had a brilliant holiday and will definately be booking again!

Just back from 2 night stay at Pontins Southport. The most disgusting place I have ever had the misfortune of going to. Pictures enclosed Mould on curtains filthy flooring spores and mould in bedroom I could go on but all in all the dirtiest place in England. Free activities?????????/ over 70???????????????/ I didnt find them..............Place should be reviewed by health inspectors this place is dangerous DO NOT GO. If offerred room 217 or 214.I would advise you turn back and go home unless you are up to date with your innoculations because you sure as heck will need vaccinated against tetanus in this place.

we have just got back from a 7 night stay and we thought that it was good value for the money we paid. We only paid £.260.00 for me / my girlfriend and our 2 year old son for 7 nights in a 2 bedroom classic apartment. The Apartment was really clean it had all been painted it had new wood flooring in the living area and kitchen clean carpets and new beds in the bedrooms the bathroom was nice and clean and the kitchen had all the utensils we needed. The site has loads of activites for kids and adults some are free and some you have to pay for but they are quiet cheap. The bars and restaurants are cheap a pint of larger only costs £2.30 and an all you can eat breakfast costs £.3.95. Overall we thought that it was realy good our son loved it and so did we the site had everything we needed and we would definetly go back. Dont listen to all the negative comments on the internet because it is nowhere near as bad as some people are saying it is not exactaly 5 star acomadation but what do you expect for this sort of money if you want 5 star luxury then go to center parks

Booked for 3 night with my self, partner and 7 month old son.was a cheap last minute booking but in this stone age you at least expect a half decent place to stop. The room wasnt the best and in the 2 days we stopped there(as we left after the second night) i was not able to put my son down other than in his travel cot as the floors were disgusting. The biggest problem was in the early hours of the morning when people were arriving back to there rooms.(0:30 and 4:00 as there is a 24 hour bar)they were acting as it was the middle of the afternoon, shouting, screaming and jumping around like inconsiderate idiots waking up anyone in range of their big gobs. Would like to visit pontins in another area as have read good reviews but would not return to this site if i was paid.it like a big long episode of jeremy kyle/shameless.

After reading lots of reviews on here two adults and one child were not looking forward to this break.Have to say it was ok the rooms and bathroom were clean even the carpet was spotless we stayed in the club apartments you get what you pay for.The outdoor activities were fine for our ten year old son he said he enjoyed his stay there. Would say the entertainment at night was a bit boring though but would go back.

Do not stay at Pontins Southport - the place is an absolute dump - very dirty. The bedding is all stained and everything is broken (swings and slides). Food so bad - not edible at all. My husband found a long black hair in his bacon at breakfast (so disgusting). It is so filthy you do not want to touch anything. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL very run down! Absolute filth!!!!

Me, my wife and my 2 children (under 2) went to pontins for a week and had LOTS of complaints, in our bathroom we had black mold every where, we had a hole at the back of the door, we had a broken toilet roll holder and broken towl holder to the point were parts were missing and unable to use, damp patches above the shower. loose plug sockets, ALL the light shade had dead flies in them, The electric heater had come off the wall and was on the carpet. There were dead flies on the window sills, plus when we was ready for bed we found that the double quilt cover had what i could only describe as urine stains on it and before we could have a bath we had to clean mud out of the bath from the previous tenantswhen, we also found food in the freezer from the previous tenants. when i mentioned all of these to the reseption they said some one will sort it. some one came and sorted the razar socket in the bathroom thats all. Thats just the rooms.
one of the days we were there we took the kids swimming and the baby pool was cold and the pool floor lining was UNSARE. which many people had also said. other than the pool and the timed thearter sessions there was nothing for under 5 years to do. nearly all of the outdoor activities cost and you had to be 5 or over to do them.
The food menu was pretty much the same all week hot, fatty and greasy. nothing much for vegiterains.
after 3 days of eating this food we were bored of eating it.
The best bits about the holiday was the CROC CREW entertainment and leaving pontins and going to the beach

  • Advice: more for the under 5 years to do, clean up the rooms and healthier menu's
