Unclean

we stayed in club apartments supposed to be top of range, to be met with filty carpets with iron burn marks in them, dirty cuttlery and plates etc, dust all over floors, given my children have ashtma not good also leaking shower that dripped constanly. entertainment was good, food was ok, some days food was better than others, looks like something from 60's needs modernising a lot. in the food hall all cuttlery was dirty even said to be clean, and sunday had hour and half wait for food we went for bank holiday weekend, beds not comfortable as it was sofa bed, and there was not way there were over 70 activities for free.

Just got back from a 5 day break booked through the sun holidays and was pleasantly surprised after reading all the negative reviews posted on this site.We were wondering what the hell have we done but on arrival after a 7 hour trek we were greeted politely and made very welcome. We picked the keys up for our accommodation and upon opening the door stood back in amazement on how clean and adequote it was after reading how dirty and smelly they were. I have been in worse caravans.
The linen was all laundered to a very high standard and the staff were brillant.Evening entertainment was good kids loved this holiday and for such a low price £120 for the week what do you want (Blood).
I suggest if your looking for 5 * luxury then book into centre parcs.Would definately return. Southport town itself was absolutely lovely very clean and maintained well.A GREAT BIG THANKS TO PONTINS SOUTHPORT FOR A LOVELY WEEK.

everything did nt work. the kettle , the drinks machines, the telephone , slush machine and the staff just shrugged their shoulders. blue coats were great but other staff were rude and miserable. were told was bad cos 3000 people were there but only 4 bar staff on and one person on desk, one person on chip shop. queues everywhere and then run out of everything. all machines in arcade broke and when complained another shrugged shoulder. others had to go without bedding as they ran out of it ! dirt everywhere split bin bags outside all week. very unsafe 1

Absolutley AWFUL! Imagine putting all the people that have been on Jeremy Kyle in one horrible un-clean place and you've got Pointins! We left 2 days early we could not bear it. Would not recommend to anyone unless your desperate and like to swear, be dirty and live like a pig.
Rooms were basic, dirty and hostel like.
Entertainment... What entertianment?

Weve just arrived back from a brief visit to Pontins Southport, the best part of it was saying goodbye and knowing we NEVER have to return.....The chalet was absolutely disgusting, filthy everywhere! There was old rotting food all over, the floors were freightening dirty i was really scared for my 2 year old to touch them. The bedding was stained, the crockery was unwashed and the teapot still had reminents of another families tea stil stewing inside. The bath was covered in sand, dirt and hair. After a sleepless night on the gross beds we got up to the fride which at leaked water all over the floor. The kitchen window looked out on a very attractive concrete fence decorated delightfully with barbed wire. The staff were rude and unfriendly, the entertainment RUBBISH (christmas show in August(why?)Kids and adults equally disappointed, biggest waste of money ever!!!!!

Just done 5 days at pontins and i,ve got to say the reveiws don,t do it justice.O K so it is a bit rough round the edges but what do you want for £175 quid for 6 people in August. We stayed in a popular 2 bedroom apartment. The overall condition of the place was quite good. It was clean and quite well equiped. The T V did,nt work and there was no hanging rail in my wardrobe(soon fixed with a penknife and a stick ,all part of the fun for the kids)In general staff were pleasant and hepful if possible, but the young lady in the supermarket has had a personality bypass and stares into the middle distance when serving you.(yes you know who you are)Anyways up ,overall the entertainment package was full and manic as you would expect from the bluecoat team, who have more energy than the kids they are entertaining. We were self catering so I cant comment on the food but from what people said the buffet breakfast was good value at £3.95 adults and £2.95 kids (all you can eat).Nowthen,a few tips If you want free entertainment for the kids, let them play on the park in good weather or go into the pool any other time, the opening times are displayed outside. If its nice go on the beach ,which is literally a stones throw from the camp.Play on the beach before having a picnic adventure in the dunes.Further afield you can go into southport. The buses leave at 40 minute intervals from right outside the camp(starting at 11 a m )It costs £3.50 adult and half price for kids. Please note pensioners cannot use their passes on this bus ,it is full fare for you unfortunately.Top tip drive the five minutes into Southport and use the park and ride £1.50 all day and only a couple of hundred yards into town.Allow a full day in Southport because it has so much to do.One last thing ,the go karts inside the camp are great fun £2.50 for a single and £3.50 for double (great value) I think I have covered every thing but if I think of anything else I will write an update.

  • Advice: Staff need training to a higher standard .Staff selection should be of a higher caliber.

Just got back from a four day break and wanted to give me views on this place , after reading so much negativity on this page. First and foremost my kids and myself had a ball it was GREAT! I have not laughed so much in a long time! If you are looking for 5* accomodation dont bother! If you are looking for a family break with your kids then its GREAT! Rooms were basic but clean. Staff are Friendly and are very willing to help. The entertainment of a night was lively and the kids loved it. I found everything reasonably priced and couldnt complain about anything. We went self catering but eat out a few nights and had a full English the day we lsft..Food was great!
Like i have said if you are looking for a few days away break with your family then check it out because i must admit i was VERY pleasantly suprised!
Your break is what you make of it..but in my case when my kids are Happy then so am i...and we all had a ball :o) xx

Dirty Holiday Camp

Aug 2011, Disappointed

Just returned from Pontins Southport after a 5day stay. The dirtiest holiday camp in england, vermin running about behind chalets, food disgusting, no kids food - over cooked, dry and cold.
Chalets dirty, smelly, carpets dirty and sticky.
who wants a christmas show in August.
No entertainment for 5year olds.
would not recommend to dogs.
Staff need training on customer care & service.
ZERO out of ten.

Please do not go to this awful place! Disgusting accommodation (and we paid for an upgrade to the Club Apartment)Mouldy curtains, damp everywhere, dirty bathroom. We even didn't take the children's toys or clothes out of the car!
Our chavvy neighbours were sat outside the chalet until gone 1am playing awful music and shouting while their 2 and 3 year old children ran round the crazy golf course (til midnight). Absolutely horrific! Stayed for one night (because it was too late to drive home) then left at 6am the next day. Currently trying to claim a full refund.
DO NOT GO!!! Sadly I did not listen to the previous poor reviews and thought I would give it the benifit of the doubt. The place is simply not fit for humans!

Stayed from 11th July until the 15th and enjoyed it. Stayed in the club chalets, which were clean and well maintained. Went half board and the food was great, lots to choose from, and everyone catered for. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots to do for the kids. I went with my 7 year old daughter, and my elderly Mum. We asked for a ground floor chalet, but on arrival discovered we had been put in one upstairs, this was resolved efficiently by the staff very quickly. I tried to cancel this holiday after reading reviews on this site, however it was too close to the date of arrival for me to do so. I am very glad I didn't as we all had a great time, and would go back again. The place is in the middle of being taken over by Brittania Hotels and all chalets are being refurbished, so it can only get better. Go for yourself and see.
