Absolutely fantastic. Beautiful surroundings although there was a little renovation work going on it never spoilt anything. Gorgeous clean pools, lovely quaint cobbled streets, gardens to die for and every apartment/house was different. The bars were so friendly especially in the Jazz Cafe, they were lovely.
The food in the restaurant in the courtyard was great (but if you get piri-piri chicken go easy on the sauce, its HOT) It was only about 15mins walk to the marina and beaches but the scenery along the way was well worth it. The marina was fantastic, nightlife great.
I would highly recommend the resort and the place. A trip to Lagos is highly recommended also.

The old village is a pleasant village with a range of different apartments. There a number of bars and restaurants located with in the old village and the marina is a 20min walk away.
The apartment we had was very clean and well presented.

Just returned from Vilamoura after staying at the Old Village Apartments for a peaceful 2 weeks. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with a rooftop terrace overlooking the Princess Garden restaurant.
Very impressed with the apartment, it was clean and most importantly it had Sky TV. The kitchen was well appointed and included a washing machine if needed. The village is clean and is well kept. Can recommend visiting the Princess Garden Restaurant, the staff make you feel very welcome and the food is excellent.
If you fancy eating in there is a small supermarket in the village that is well stocked. In you want to stay and have a drink in the village there is a couple of bars and other restaurants to try. The marine in Vilamoura is approx 15 minute walk and we recommend that you visit the Old Navy bar/restaurant. Their salads are worth trying.
If you are interest in playing golf (that's mini golf) try the Roma Golf Park, apparently it's the best one in Europe. It's a little bit expensive (9 euros) but it's a lot of fun and the surroundings are based on a Roman theme.
Overall we really enjoyed the Old Village and can't wait to go back.
