I would highly recommend Villa Edem to any one considering Thassos for a holiday. Ideally situated just a few minutes walk from the town centre, it was the perfect base.

Our room was large with views overlooking the pool.

It was very clean and tidy with the added bonus of a TV (it rained a couple of times!) which had BBC World news plus a Greek channel which showed some US programmes with Greek subtitles.

Litsa is a lovely lady who did everything she could to make us feel welcome.

We were there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and Litsa presented us with a large bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine - very unexpected!

Situated just a couple of minutes walk for the sea front, it was the ideal base for a very relaxed holiday.

Thassos Town itself is a charming place; it has a village feel to it although there are more than enough restaurants to eat somewhere different each night for two weeks. Plus there are many bars, both English pub style and traditional Greek tavernas.

A bus trip to Golden Beach is well worth taking, but I found the Town beach more than adequate. Lined with beach tavernas, the sun beds and brollys are free, and the clear blue sea deep enough to swim in without having to wade out 200 yards!

Even the journey was an enjoyable event, good flight times, 10/15 minute transfer to the port, then a 30 minute ferry to Thassos.

If you don’t go to Thassos - you will miss one of the most beautiful, relaxing places you could ever hope to find! Highly recommended.

What a shame that comments made may make people decide not to visit Thassos. We had a fabulous holiday June 2005 so much so that we are returning again June 2006.

We stayed at the villa Edem apartments in Thassos town which are small and friendly with a lovely private swimming pool. Yannis and Litsa and their two sons were wonderful friendly and couldn’t do enough to ensure our holiday was fantastic.

The beaches were clean and just enough tavernas so that you had a choice, we certainly didn’t experience any loud disco music during the whole of the fortnight.

The old harbour area is so picturesque it’s breathtaking and we experienced some wonderful sunsets. I do agree that the new harbour is a little off-putting when you arrive and there is some development taking place, but this is only happening due to the amount of visitors to the island which only goes to show that people think Thassos is beautiful.

We have visited a lot of Greek islands, such as Zante, Corfu, Kefalonia, Santorini to name a few and would rate Thassos high up in our list of favourite places.

The accommodation and location were excellent only a short walk to the town and beach but with the added advantage of a peaceful setting.. Litsa, Yannis and the boys were very friendly and helpful and became our friends.

Usually we like to go to different Greek Islands each year, however we had such a fab holiday we have booked again for June 2006. Thassos is a very beautiful island with two beaches, many tavernas & shops to wander around. The Old Harbour is so picturesque.

Had a wonderful break staying at the Villa Edem. The accommodation was well looked after and in a fantastic position just 3 min walk to the centre of town.

Thassos itself is one of the best Greek islands which I have ever visited, with an abundance of Tavernas, bars and restaurants.

I would recommend both the island and the accommodation to anyone who is looking for a relaxing break with a choice of fantastic Tavernas in beautiful scenery.
