Savoy Prague Hotel

We stayed in the Savoy for a long weekend. It was on the whole a peaceful haven from the August crowds in Prague.
The hotel is stylish in an old-fashioned way. Our room was huge, with a separate WC and a huge bathroom.
One minor niggle is that the cot we'd requested wasn't set up but a quick call to reception sorted that out for us. Not that we needed it- the bed was easily big enough for the 3 of us.
There is a special offer in the restaurant where you can have a set menu for about 30GBP and the second person eats for free. It's only valid on your first night and is well worth doing. Budget for spending twice that though- drinks are not cheap here and the wine list is a good selection but expensive. Water costs an outrageous £4 a bottle.
The gym was tiny but fairly well-equipped and the sauna and Jacuzzi were excellent with plenty of fluffy towels and some lounge chairs for resting. The breakfast buffet was extensive to say the least- every taste is catered for here and even when you've indulged in fruits, croissants and the cooked options there are trays of home-made cakes which you have to make space for.
The staff are friendly and very well-trained.
The only point I dropped from the rating is because the maintenance wasn't 100%- our window was stuck and took us until the final night to open it, there were instances of peeling wallpaper and the washbasin plug didn't work. But on the whole a fantastic place to chill out for a few days.
