Residence Villa Francia Hotel

Stayed at this resort for the Cannes film festival in May 2004. 4 of us shared a one bedroom apartment for 4 days during the festival and found it a fun and affordable place. Very little complaints - the pool had a fabulous view over the med and was a relaxing place to hang out at. Drove to Cannes over 3 days, arrived on complex to be greeted by very gracious English speaking staff. We were allocated a duplex apartment with two balconies having super views over Cannes bay. 7 of us stayed in apartment, basic but clean, take a kettle with you, really missed mine !! gorgeous pool although staff a little strict with inflatables. Though the grounds and pool are stunning it appeared as if those two things were the only features that this resort cares to maintain. Our room was also tiny and cheap, with a cell-like bedroom with the worst mattress and scariest pillows I have ever experiences outside of a college dorm. The sitting room and kitchenette were adequate, and we had a small patio though though no view whatsoever. Spent 1 1/2 weeks here in August -September2003. Most units have great views (check first). Our unit had a well-equipped kitchen and a living room and balcony with view. Bedroom somewhat small but adequate. No A/C, but we had a good breeze even on the hottest days. If you are driving from somewhere in Europe, bring all necessities (soap, dishwasher detergent, towels, etc). These can also be obtained on the property or purchased locally. The gardens were beautiful and well tended which is more than I can say for the appartments. Think of prison and this place is one step up. We arrived at 10.30pm after a 12 hour drive to be given sheets to make our own beds in 36 degree heat with no air conditioning. If you like sleeping in a rabbit hutch which doubles as a sauna this is the place for you. The appartment we had was for 7 people and there were only 4 of us. Beautiful location on the Vendee coastline. Short drive away to a local uncrowded beach. Ideal for families especially golfers. Friendly atmosphere and safe for children.We stayed in a two bed house overlooking a large pond and the golf course. Very clean and well equipped though there was no electric kettle.
