Hotel Arlequin is right in the centre of the restaurant area of Brussels, just off Grand Place.
There are plenty of good quality restaurants, but beware the old trick of an advertised 3 course meal for about 18 Euros but the accompanying wine will be about 30 Euros!
Going slightly out of the area will save you a lot of money on eating, or trying the many bars for food instead. I can recommend something different, a tapas restaurant called Comocomo on Ave Dansaert, where the tapas is served on a conveyor belt rather like some sushi bars - highly recommended and not that expensive.
Also a find was a fish stall called Nordsee on St Catherine square, where on Sunday morning you can stand at the fish bar and eat delicious fish soup for 3 Euros or scampi for 6, seems very popular and a great way to eat like the locals.
The beer selection is incredible in the bars, and most places seemed to be table service.
One thing to note is that service in bars and restaurants is very relaxed and so can be quite slow at times for people used to UK service!
Hotel Arlequin itself was adequate and comfortable. The rooms seem recently renovated, with flat screen TVs and new beds. Staff were friendly and helpful.
