Wonderful holiday
9 / 10
Sep 2009, Galaxy666

I visited Amsterdam with my husband and parents, and we stayed at the Rho Hotel. The staff were wonderful, the rooms were clean, large and very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent. Just off Dam Square, so very central for reaching the central sites.
A very enjoyable stay.
I must say again ..... the staff at the hotel were excellent and couldn't do enough to ensure our comfort. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Pleasant hotel in a central location, 100 yards from Dam Square and the infamous red light district just around the corner. A full breakfast is included at the hotel with a choice of English- bacon, eggs, etc or a continental breakfast- bread, jam, cheese. The rooms are a decent size with en suite facilities ensuring a clean and pleasant stay. Amsterdam is a sin city with a vibrant night life where sex shops and shows are a plenty. There are bars and restaurants across the city with varying prices to ensure everybody has a choice of eateries. There are also museums and the Anne Frank house for daytime excursions to coincide with one of the greatest nights out on the planet.

This hotel is ideally located for...

This hotel is ideally located for seeing Amsterdam, It is just off Dam Square and with all the sights within walking distant it's great. The rooms are pretty basic but all we need is a bed and a bathroom.
Breakfast was good and plenty of it. The staff are really friendly and have really good local knowledge. Dam Square could get a bit noisy so not ideal if you went with kids but for young adults this hotel is ideal.
If you are travelling on a budget the Rho is ideal as a good value hotel. If you don't mind walking everywhere is easily accessible on foot and with so many places to see in such a small city we had a fantastic time.
You must see Anne Frank's House it is amazing, and it really gives you a feel for what life was like then for that family The are so many bars and restaurants you are spoilt for choice, a different one every night

Dec 2004, Miss D Hutchison

I absolutely love this quirky little place with all the local beauty one could ask for.
me and my partner went for 5 delicious days of culture shocking experiences and I didn’t want to come home.
our hotel served bacon and eggs for breakfast and it was included in the staying price and this beautiful hotel was situated right in the centre of dam square which meant everything was in walking distance.
winter sales were on and the shops are amazing!! I shopped till I dropped and my partner was beginning to wish he had booked another date as there was at least 20 shoe shops all in sale!
of course we had to visit a coffee shop(which Amsterdam is renowned for) and because it had been featured in the new movie "oceans eleven" we decided to visit the Dampkring. It was a fantastic place with low glowing lighting sweet smells of coffee and chocolate and it was decorated like an Indian treasure cove placed inside an enchanted tree! I was excited to know that brad Pitt had stood at the same bar and maybe even sat on my seat but when Danny Devito and his wife (Carla from cheers) sat at our table with their 3 kids I was completely star struck and it made my day! they only stayed for about 20minutes or so but I couldn’t believe our luck!
we visited the red light district and what a culture shock! My partner enjoyed that very much and I found it quite an eyeful myself!
I loved the flower market and the canals and all the delicious foods on offer!
We visited the Van Gogh museum and it was magnificent to view the famous sunflowers in all their original glory right before my very eyes.
Amsterdam is very romantic especially at night when it is flooded in lights hitting cobbled streets and bouncing off canals. I was nervous upon arrival but the local people made it so enjoyable and the sights by day or night are spectacular. I would recommend this holiday to anyone. In Amsterdam anything could happen and we are returning on the same dates to the same hotel this year! and I can’t wait!!!!
I would just say when in a cafe be sure it is a cafe and be weary of suspicious tasting chocolate cake!
