Sofitel Forum Rive Gauche Hotel

I stayed at this hotel as part of my tour with Insight. Alot of tour groups stay here. I did not find the location all that great. It was very close to the metro station as stated in other reviews, but there is nothing else around here. You will need to take the metro everywhere. I did walk back to the hotel a couple of times, it takes about an hour at a good pace to get from Notre Dame to the hotel. Hotel itself is just ok. this hotel was used by glous normandy, britanny, and chateau country - it was a very nice hotel, with all the services (concierge, restaurant, etc.) but was away from the center of paris - i would have preferred a hotel where i could walk in the evening without having to take a taxi or the subway the breakfast buffet was wonderful if i were to return to paris, i would definitely choose a different location i am from san antonio, texas

We spent 5 nights at the Sofitel (now Marriot) Hotel Rive Gauche, Paris, at the end of August, 2006 and were generally pleased with our stay. When we first arrived, we were uncertain we'd come to the right place because there was no Sofitel or Marriot itentity--all the signs and logos simply said "Hotel Rive Gauch" (means Hotel Left Bank). This hotel has excellent location with the metro station literary at the doorstep. The big metro station of rochereua is only 10 minutes away. The hotel also has an excelllent concierge service and almost all the staff are eager to please. However, this hotel is old. And we I say old, I mewan old that has been refurbished since the 1980s. Please note that the beds are uncomfortable and the furniture dates from the 1970's. I will not stay here again until they remodel the place. The hotel is clean and friendly. The rooms are a decent size, but not nearly as fancy as an american hotel for that price. The concerige staff is excellent and the hotel is 1 block from the metro. The restaurant in the hotel is not worth the money, but Nellies bar is a great place to hang out for a drink or a coffee. There are several nice cafes on the same block in close walking distance.

The rooms were clean and the hotel was slightly one block from a metro stop. However, our best experience was with the concierge, where we received service that was above and beyond what could be expected. Specifically, his name was Ricardo, I believe. He planned a trip to Normandy for us that was incredible. He had to coordinate several difficult logistical arrangements to make this trip happen, and we were very impressed in his ability to deliver and his overall congeniality. My stay at this hotel was wonderful...from breakfast in the morning, to the helpfulness of the concierge, to its location...never been to Paris before, but would love to go back and stay here again. Everyone was extremely nice and we had a very nice room with a great view.

Extremely clean, pleasant hotel. Residential, but convenient location. Staff very polite, helpful, not at all stuffy. Breakfast buffet - more than expected, food fresh and plentiful.

We stayed here for 3 nights, and were very happy with the service from start to finish. Reception staff were helpful and polite, as were the waiting staff in the breakfast room and the porters. Breakfast was very good, wide choice of hot and cold food. Rooms were clean, warm and met our every requirement. Location excellent - 1 minute from the Metro station, and views from the 11th floor were fantastic. Would recommend this hotel.

The hotel has a good location. The staff at the concierge were very helpful. The room is moderately big. The shower room is very clean. It is very accessible to the metro.
