Pavillon Louvre Rivoli Hotel

Just a word of warning about this hotel: as previous reviewers have experienced, the hotel was overbooked - again - and I was moved to the extremely disappointing and down-right crap Normandy Hotel (you may want to read reviews of this property before booking the Pavillon Louvre Rivoli, as it certainly appears as if this overbooking procedure is indeed very common at the Pavillon.) I would like to add that I in fact faxed the hotel a reconfirmation (as if this should be necessary!) the day prior to my stay. Of course they never replied... more

Stayed here over the Easter Weekend for a romantic break with the girlfriend following positive comments from others. Hotel situated in narrow and quiet road 2 minutes walk from the Louvre entrance and 5 minutes from two metro stops. Usual Paris sized hotel room with small bathroom. Stayed room 111 which is in the back with balcony on central courtyard - ok but no views to write home about. For a place to sleep at night when sightseeing, cannot go wrong!

Back to the Louvre Rivoli again after my August 2002 review. Still much the same - small, clean, friendly and perfectly located. But - prices are creeping up and breakfast is not always included. If you can get a room at or under US$150 with breakfast included this is still a very, very fine choice. Over $150 and $15 or more each for breakfast? I would be inclined to look elsewhere.

The Louvre Rivoli rooms are small by US standards but it's on a quiet and charming street, located close to tourist attractions like the Louvre and the Notre Dame. Would definitely stay here again!

This is the perfect spot for an exploration of Paris, but you need to have no delusions of grandeur. The rooms are small, but clean, ok beds, great shower and in room bathroom, and with organization, you actually can move around. We stacked our two suitcases, and essentially only use the room to sleep. The desk staff all speak English, are young and very friendly. None of them are French, but are knowlegable about the city. We booked this hotel for a long girl's weekend in Paris and selected it because of it's promise to have THREE single beds in the triple room. When we got there - lo and behold - the triple room was "flooded" and they would put us in a quad room (sounds good, but really 2 double beds) and move us in the morning. It was a bit annoying, but survivable. The triple room we were moved into was perfect for us. Three single beds, one bathroom. All was quite clean and comfortable. I stayed at the Louvre Rivioli for two days last week for the cost of about $400 for a double through utell. It was defiantly not worth $200 a night, maybe $100. The room was small, smaller than the 2 hotels we stayed in London. The beds were completely shot. The bathroom was small and moldy. Do not take a room facing the street, the garbage comes every morning around 7:00. There was construction going on in the room opposite of us and hammering started at 8:00. I recently had a similar experience to the previous reviewer at this hotel, although at least the hotel staff were honest in telling them that the hotel was overbooked. When we arrived for our 3 night stay we were told there was a 'technical fault ' - that old chestnut the flood that has been mentioned on this site previously in relation to Parisian hotels. After reading the current reviews I arrived at this hotel with a fully pre-paid, four night, reservation and high expectations. The location was good. The staff was kind. But they had overbooked the hotel and I had to spend the first two nights of my short Paris stay in the rundown Hotel Normandy (where they carried my bags and left me to check in.) I took my Mother-in-Law away to Paris for a weekend at the beginning of February as she has always dreamed of going there. The hotel was just right, the position was great and we could organise our sightseeing with breaks back at the hotel inbetween. It was immaculately clean, in fact cleaner than a recent 5* hotel I stayed in in England. The breakfast was lovely - and they now do chocolate croissants too (reference to an earlier review).
