Novotel Paris les Halles Hotel Reviews
Sep 2006, Miss A Reid
This hotel is very centrally located and easily accessible by metro from Gare du Nord (2 stops). It is 5 mins walk to La Louvre where you can pick up city tour buses which are very frequent. The hotel was the best I could find to book online that would offer rooms for... more

great hotel and great location
from mf2006
Very nice and Confortable hotel in a very convenient location. Delicious breakfast (Espresso coffee included) tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Lots of restaurants and cafes around in walking distance. Excellent choise for families.
a delightful and well-priced Parisian surprise
from Prima-Clementina
Stayed here with my fiance for a week in early May: Overall - I did not expect much (having been in small cramped hotels in Paris before), and this place was surprisingly wonderful. Location - it is a five minute walk from the modern art museum (Centre Pompidou), a seven minute walk from the Louvre, a ten minute walk from Notre Dame and the Ile de Cite, a two minute walk from an extensive metro stop where many of the lines stop as well as the RER lines that get you to/from the airport. Service - I emailed the hotel prior to arrival to get directions from CDG airport - the directions were sent promptly, in English, and were perfectly useful and helpful. Check-In & Out were smooth - kind service in English (they appreciated my attempts at French). They were also very helpful with the wireless/wired internet questions that we had (the hotel provides it at a cost). Overall - kind, considerate, helpful. Also, room service was nicely priced. Hooray for Priceline. Room - clean. very very clean. Big room (American standards). Lovely and comfortable big king-sized bed (not two connected twins!) with clean comfortable sheets. Nice couch - nice tv, nice desk & chair, little fridge (mini-bar) which we used to store the cheese we bought on the trip, nice view of a beautiful church (Eustache), quiet, comfortable, good AC. Bathroom - clean. nice deep tub (if you're a fan of baths - it's lovely). good pressure in the shower. Separate toilet - nice and clean. Safety - never felt unsafe. Very popular and good location near a big shopping mall - lots of restaurants, cafes, and shops - always busy (and yet the room was quiet). I highly recommend it for a mid-budget trip - especially since it's so comfortable.
Excellent value
from Az-2010
Stayed for 5 days in early July 06. This was a second trip to Paris, but the first with the children (9 and 15). Had 2 rooms, each with queen bed and sofa bed. Paid USD$130 per room through Priceline. Rooms were very clean (and spacious by Paris standards). Breakfast buffet was very good, but pricey at 16 Euros per adult (one child eats for free per paying adult so it can be a very good deal for families). Hotel staff was very accommodating. I had asked by email (in English) for adjoining rooms and for early check-in. I got a quick response saying that they had no adjoining rooms but could get us rooms next to each other, and they would try to accommodate us if we arrived before the regular check-in time. We were pleasantly surprised to get both of our rooms when we arrived from the airport at 9 AM. The location is great. Restaurants, grocery stores, fast food, and so on, are just around the corner. Louvre is a 10-minutes walk. Metro and RR just outside the lobby. Staff speaks English well and are very plesant. Most of the guests were from other European countries. Seemed to be popular with couples with children so late breakfast was quite crowded.
Comfortable hotel, centrally located

We stayed at the Novotel Les Halles in July 2006. We booked on the ACCOR website and got a rate of 175 euros for a deluxe room. We chose the hotel because of its proximity to the sights and ease of access from Gare Du Nord station, and weren't disappointed. It's only one stop on the RER from Gare Du Nord (5 mins), and there's a metro entrance right outside the hotel. If you follow the signs to Exit: Rue de la Ferronnerie and take the lift to ground level, you'll find yourself right in front of the hotel. It took us just half an hour from the moment our train pulled into Gare du Nord at 11:45 AM to the moment we entered the hotel's smart foyer. As such, we were too early for the usual check-in time of 3 PM but were told our room was ready and we could check-in immediately, which we were delighted about. Our room was on the fifth floor, overlooking the courtyard. The view wasn't much, but it meant the room was quiet, even with the windows wide open. There was a queensize bed, sofa, desk, flat screen TV, bathroom with full bath AND large shower cubicle, and a tiny separate toilet. We had a safe in the room, as well as a fridge/mini-bar and tea/coffee making facilities. There were lots of towels and a bathrobe in the bathroom. The room was reasonably spacious, with large windows, and the bed was comfortable. The design was fresh and modern, with square pillows on the bed and a jazzy sink & fittings in the bathroom. We found the staff to be very friendly, even when under pressure (the hotel seemed to be extremely busy that weekend). When we got up at 11:00 AM on Sunday morning to discover we'd run out of coffee, we walked outside the room and asked the maid who was cleaning the rooms on our corridor. She had no way to replenish our stock, but called room service for us, and additional sachets arrived within 10-15 minutes. The front desk were also kind enough to extend our check-out time by two hours, and they stored our luggage for us when we did check out. The area around the hotel is busy day and night, and there are no doubt some shady characters around. This is, after all, the inner-city. Having said this, we never felt unsafe and didn't witness anything that worried us. We did see one homeless person, but he was asleep and didn't seem the slightest bit threatening. Even when we walked back to our hotel at 2:30 AM after a night out we weren't worried. On the plus side, there are tons of good cafes and restaurants in Les Halles, the shops are open on Sunday, you're close to the Louvre, Beaubourg (stunning views from the rooftop), Notre Dame, Marais, Quartier Latin, St Germain, Rue de Rivoli and the iles. We didn't use the metro once all weekend. The park round the corner was busy with Parisians enjoying the sunshine during the weekend and St Eustache was well worth a visit. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but bought croque monsieurs from one of the nearby cafes at a fraction of the price. The hotel's restaurant and bar looked inviting, but if you prefer to explore the neighbourhood, you'll find plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from.
pretty good, I would definitely return
from yyzaz
Found a good deal over the internet..I went with my family, 3 kids and had a queen bed and pull out sofa, we all fit very comfortably and very clean. The hotel is modern, nice lobby and had a good restaurant, nice bar with internet computers, a really good deal overall. There's a supermarket just down the street..cheap, compared to buying at restaurants..we stocked up on water, pop, snacks..everything you would need for breakfast and lunch. Its in a great location..metro right at the door,( make sure you exit at Le Forrineau..I think that's how it spelled, if your coming from the airport) the Lourve and Notre Dame were 5 minutes away. The area at night right by the hotel can be a little seedy but very safe, a police station right around the corner and a block or two away its totally different..full of great restaurants and that Paris charm. We would definitely return.
Perfect for our family
from 5onthego
We spent 3 days in Paris and this hotel was perfect place to base ourselves from. It was easy train access from CDG airport. We could walk to so many places - Centre Pompideau, Louvre, Notre Dame.. Our rooms were very clean and contemporary, including the bathrooms. The air conditioning also worked very well which was essential since Paris was experiencing a heat wave. As a family of 5 we needed two rooms. Each room had a queen size bed and a pull out sofa so we were quite comfortable. We felt very safe even coming back after 10 pm on many nights. There are also many restaurants nearby. On a tiny side street near the hotel (across Rue St. Honore) there was a great little pizza place. Staff was very friendly. We would stay there again.
There is no pool - Dirty bathroom
from Jessica
This is not a four star hotel, more like 2.5*. Nice smart foyer good staff, but no pool, or gym. If you want location, it is very good location. They have a problem with cleaning at this hotel. We first found a dirty socks under the bed, which we thought was an oversight as the room and beds looked lovely and clean. The bathroom though is disgusting, I actually took photo of the shower cubicle, with green slimy stuff. We first thought it was condensation, it wasn't, they are just not cleaning it properly. How anyone can leave a bathroom like that is beyond me. You can lift some of the dirt with your finger. I reported it to the staff, they said they will try and get the maid to clean it better the following day. Still disgusting. My children refused to use it, and I had to clean it myself with one of their hand towels. The white towel was black and green afterwards. The breakfast buffet was okay, children eat free which is good. The bar downstairs is one of the best thing in the hotel. They have different pianists most evenings, and it is very good atmosphere. The manager is also very good and pleasant. Everyone in the hotel speaks good English. There is also free internet access near the bar. They also have a play station for children, but they don't change the game in the play station. Location is good as it is close to everything, however I wouldn't stay here again.
Great location
from joanjett
The location of the hotel was simply great – right in the middle of it all! We had twin daughters 7 years old despite which, we could walk down to Musee du Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, the Notre Dame Cathedral. On one pleasant day, we even managed Place du La Concorde. The Metro is steps away from the hotel and the hotel staff is helpful with the metro routes to take. You can manage Disneyland, Versailles, La Defense and Sacre Coeur very conveniently on the metro. The area around the hotel has umpteen cafes to try out and international fast food chains to depend on with a couple of great Indian restaurants as well. The breakfast at the hotel is good and the rooms were kept clean by the housekeeping. The hotel is undergoing some amount of renovation but does not disturb the general ambience. If we were to do Paris again, we would most probably stay here again.
expensive for a 3 star hotel
from Azzul
the neighborhood is not the best in paris but is near to the bargain fashion rivoli st and near to the louvre. the rooms are ok, no more than a 89 usd ramada , the good thing is, 20 usd for the breakfast buffet is very complete freshly made crepes and omeletts a lot of fruit and chesses, and since paris is a city to walk the buffet keep you satified until the lunch time. I also recomend st denis pizza at the corner of the hotel , european style pizzas and salads for about 16 usd (ham and mushrooms , sweet tomato with a sunny style egg in the middle)
Parfait!

The Novotel was absolutely perfect for our first trip to Europe. The rooms were super clean and the staff was very friendly. We arrived at the hotel before our room was ready and they stored our bags for us while we waited. The lobby is very clean and modern with nice comfortable chairs. Internet access was in the lobby- very easy and reasonably priced. Our room was spacious for a European room. In our room, we had two adults and two children and we fit very comfortably. We had a full size bed and a sofa sleeper, which was surprisingly very comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious with shower and tub. There was a separate toilet room. Our room had a courtyard view, which made it a quiet stay. We had a beautiful view and fresh air to open the windows to in the morning. Despite what other reviews say, we saw very little of homeless/bums around the hotel. We stayed for a week and every night we came back to the hotel around 11pm. Even at this time of night we felt safe with the kids. The area was perfect for our first trip to Paris. 5 minute walk to Notre Dame and Louvre. 10 minutes to Latin Quarter. Easy access to metro. We found everything we needed within a 5 minutes walk: pharmacy, grocery stores, hundreds of boulangeries, restuarants, outdoor markets, and shopping. My family was a bit scared for our first trip to Europe, especially after hearing horror stories of tiny and dirty hotel rooms. But we were pleasantly surprised and can't wait to go back to Paris and the Novotel Les Halles. This hotel not only lived up to American standards, it surpassed them.
