New Hotel Roblin

It was my first trip to Paris so I was expecting very little for a lot of money. While it was a lot of money, we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. I stayed there with my wife and two kids. We brought an air matress for the kids and it worked out great. Everything is nice and recently renovated -- the room had a separate hallway with bath / toilet / closet and we had plenty of room. Family of 3 travelling. We bookedand paid in full through Octupus Travel for this hotel in March and confirmation given,on arrival we were told that the hotel was overbooked and we were then escorted to another hotel of lesser value. While this may not be the Hotels fault entirely it does serve to warn other travellers that prepayment does not guarentee accomodation is availbale on arrival.

Have just returned from a wonderful trip to Paris with my sisters. Hotel Roblin was ideally situated for all the sights of the City. Room was pretty decent and of a very good size for the three of us. Staff were extremely friendly and courteous and always had a greeting and smile for us. Breakfast was very nice and also had a lovely meal in the restaurant one night although was a little pricey. Plan to return to Paris in August and will definitely book the Roblin again.

We have just returned from a 3 day stay at the New Hotel Roblin. We had booked a superior room but were disappointed with the room we were given even though the receptioist insisted it was superior.We were given another room which was better but nothing like the photos on the web site. It was next to the staircase & lift & the constant noise was horrendous. We were told that the Hotel was full & could not be moved elsewhere. A very pleasant hotel in an excellent, central location. Our room was large and clean, although with rather eccentric decoration and colour scheme. Beds were comfortable and extra pillows provided as soon as we asked for them. The only thing missing in the room was tea/coffee making facilities, which are fairly scarce in French hotels. The staff were efficient and child-friendly. Breakfast was reasonable - though rather over-priced. A cosy bar for evening drinks. I also had one of the oval rooms and was quite pleased until check out. I was charged for breakfast every day even though I only had it once in a six nite stay. I was even charged for the day I was checking out even though I was checking out earler than breakfast started! I was also charged for a bar bill that was not mine. The desk clerk took off only the last breakfast even though I pointed out I had signed for the bills I did have and he couldn't provide any bill for the other dates. The location was perfect and centrally located. I really liked the neighborhood--not touristy. The metro is nearby, as are 2 gourmet food shops (if you are into that), and a Starbucks. The staff was helpful, but not overly friendly. There was one staff member that was very nice and helpful. He definitely stood out as one of the nicest people we met in Paris. I stayed at the New Hotel Roblin for 4 nights in Feb 2004. I thought the hotel was very nice - both the lobby and the hotel were very clean. I shared a room with a friend and it was spacious. We had 2 single beds, a separate room for the toilet and another room for a doulbe sink/shower. The hotel location was great. It is about 1 min walk from the metro, 2 min from Place de La Concorde, 2 min from the Jardins des Tuileries and 7 min to the Louvre Museum. Overall, it was very nice. Last week we spent 3 days in Paris - we found the lobby/restauant to be **** stars, but the room was old, tired and definately not of the same rating. I would rate it a tarnished 3 star- not 4 star as the books claimed. the location is great- room was sub-standard...the mattress indescribable.

We got a super package deal from Eurostar.. so did not pay full price for the room. Initrially, I inquired with the hotel about an upgrade from the "standard" room. I was granted a complimentary upgrade to a "Chambre Prestige"... never hurts to ask! Also requested non-smoking room. Upon check-in, we were dissapointed with the courtesy at the front desk (the receptionist was less than hospitable), and also with the quality of the "Chambre Prestige": Small, old-looking, tacky decor, uncomfortable foam mattres on beds... and, it smelled... more
