A nice enough hotel - But definitely not 5 star. It's important to note when travelling to Prague, that hotels set their own star ratings - this one is definitely exaggerating a bit.
Staff were friendly enough, but not 5 star service at all - not even basic hotel features, such as an iron in the room were included - and all their double beds appear to be two singles pushed together - with two separate single sheets! - Not an awful hotel, but not a top one either, making it expensive for what it is, not a genuine 5 star hotel, probably should be more a high 3.

I found this hotel generally hard to fault - easily worth the disputed 5* rating. The decor was excellent - particularly the bar area (overpriced but you would expect that in such a nice setting).
True I didn't have a double bed - it was more king-size and definitely not two beds pushed together. The room was one of the best I have stayed in. Location is excellent if you are looking to be near Wencelas Square.
Admittedly the Old Quarter is by far the more picturesque and there is much there that you will need to see on your trip, but the shopping facilities, night life, casinos (very costly) and bars/restaurants were excellent. Staff were very friendly - simply couldn't do enough for you.
I am a very well travelled individual with many years experience in the travel industry who has stayed in many 5* and many 'so-called' 5*. Whilst you would be foolish to expect the standard of the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, this is a very good mid-range 5* with ridiculously cheap rates for the standard you get.
Would recommend the hotel and the city wholeheartedly to anyone who will listen. Don't be put off by any bad reviews you read you will not be disappointed.
