Libertel Touraine Opera Hotel

This is a great hotel for shoppers - Galeries Lafayette is a 5 minute walk away with fantastic shopping, particuarly in the sales! However, our room stank of smoke. We couldnt open the windows due to scaffolding so it was quite overpowering. The staff were friendly, good sized rooms and good location. Just ask for a non smoking room!

My husband and I stayed at the hotel on 20.-23.7.2008. What we did not know was that there was a construction work going on in the building at the same time. All the rooms expect the few where some hotel guests stayed were restored at that time. Bath rooms had already been renovated and they were clean and nice. We stayed here and all enjoyed the friendly staff and clean and comfortable rooms. There was some renovation going on but it didn't really bother us. The location is great. Lots of great restaurants, bars and shopping within walking distance. Got a bus to the Eifel Tower from a bus stop just minutes from the hotel. If you want value for money, a good location and a warm welcome - this is the place. i went this year to this hotel and i have only today read the reviews on trip advisor. its not as bad as its made out to be, i found it in easy reach of the opera and the main shopping area which means that there are plenty of metro stations and buses etc to get you around paris. the reception staff kept themselves to themselves but the breakfast room staff were more than friendly. it is a very basic hotel but you pay for what you get, i didnt pay that much for my stay in paris and got what i expected for my money! i... more

Between our group, we had 3 rooms and all 3 rooms had problems. I had a problem with the shower flooding the bathroom floor, one of the other rooms had a problem with air conditioning and the other had a problem with the toilet. Breakfast Bar was a joke - they had a large group staying there at the same time as us and they ran out of breakfast. We did not even go down to the dungeon breakfast bar that late either. I have booked this hotel through Superbreak,hotel is horrible as undergroun passes all hotel shaking as well as building work next door disturbs early morning. Room was very dark and dirty,we stay 3 nights and agreed to not open bathroom door at all,beacuse of dirtywater smells.Probobly they didnt clean shower tiles at least last 6 months because of that shower smell horrible,it was impossible to get in to bathroom,lucky enough toilet was sparet. Surprised at the few and negative reviews. Yes , rooms are a little dark but thats more to do with the old building then anything else. Nice lounge area and very good buffet breakfast. Located close to the opera. Seemed to be quite a quiet location - but I was at the back of the hotel. Decoration generally very good - as you would expect from a Libertel

noisy location by road traffic. rooms very dark and small. situatin in quartier coud be better: no metro, bars and restaurants within close distance. advantage: discount rates for € 75. Officialprices (€ 140 for a double are a just joke). Other hotels for little more a much more pleasant.

We got this hotel via Priceline, and after this I won't be using Priceline ever again! The hotel was in very sad shape for a 3 star. The ceiling of the lobby was crumbling, our room was dark, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, and the bed linens were stained. On top of that, the shower was barely warm. We were told that if everyone in the hotel showers around the same time, this is what happens. You can find much better 2 stars in Paris!

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a three night stay at the Touraine Opera. We were very impressed indeed by this lovely hotel and would definitely stay there again. The staff were always friendly and helpful and because it's quite a small hotel we felt we had very personal service. The room was not lavish, but it was very clean with a small wardrobe and a TV with many channels including CNN and MTV. The bathroom was ok, again not beautifully decorated but always clean and everything you'd want from a three star hotel. Perhaps... more
