I totally agree with the rating of the last person. Went last week and yes the weather was terrible but that did not stop the sunbed's being covered in towels from about 6 in the morning even though it says in the hotel brochure that this is not allowed. The food was... more

Despite the hotel only being 3stars, It was up to a very high standard in many places. The rooms were all very clean, so was the swimming pool. Great kids club and entertainment at night, staff all very helpful. There was a good choice of food every day and you could see the chefs cooking the food. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This will be our 3rd Christmas and I cant wait. The hotel is very comfortable and the rooms are a good size and spotless. The food is excellent and the Chefs go out of their way to provide top class food. Great for kids and adults alike. Guests from all over Europe all very friendly.

We stayed here last 2 weeks in June, 2010. It is true that the hotel contained a majority of Germans who never spoke (unlike one lady who thought I was German and tried to discuss the toasting machine with me).We all know that the majority of Germans can speak English but... more

great value for money
Bear in mind that this is only a three star hotel and geared around self service and you won’t be disappointed. Whilst it is better than many of the four star hotels in PDI it doesn’t offer waiter service. The rooms are fine although a little tight if a third childs bed were needed, basic but spotless. The pool area was good with plenty of loungers but the sun does move around and you need to keep moving and no pool towels are provided so take your own. Bars were good with very little queuing which is unusual in an all... more
Brilliant
I could not fault this hotel. Very clean and staff so pleasant. Food good and very impressed by management, who were always about the place and had an open office door should you wish to speak with them. I celebrated my birthday whilst there, and received a basket of fruit from management, an animal towel arrangement with a couple of chocs., from chambermaid, and at dinner a candle at my table, and a visit from the manager and head waiter to congratulate me. Very impressed more
Excellent hotel
My boyfriend & I stayed at the riu waikiki for a week in December & we couldnt fault the hotel at all. All of the staff were friendly & nothing was too much for them. The meals were outstanding. Such a wide selection of foods for every taste, even the most picky eaters like myself! An extra bonus was the singing chef!! Breakfasts consisted of a selection of cereals, fruit, cooked & cold meats. Lunch was either a wide choice of salads, meat, pasta, potatoes, fish, pizza & for pudding fruit, ice cream & sweets. Main meal was the same as... more
We didn't want to leave
14 of us have just got back yesterday from the Riu Waikiki. The ages were mixed a 4 year old, teenagers twentys, thirtys, fourtys, and fiftys and we all loved it. The food was fantastic. It was varied usually fish, pork and chicken or beef, always pasta, salads and a good choice of vegetables. There was always three different icecreams and lots of different little cakes, fresh fruit mangos, bananas, apples melons etc. Breakfast again was very varied, I have never seen so many types of bread. Cereals, cold meats, yogurt and fruit and english... more
Excellent place to stay
Stayed at this hotel 10 - 17 October 2005. Although disappointed there were not many English people staying there at that time of year, there was nothing we could really fault. Food was excellent and plenty of choice at all meals, staff most friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and would do anything that was asked. Maid service every day in the room, which was absolutely spotless. Noisy but not too busy road at the back of the hotel but with double glazing and a ceiling fan this was not a problem. Will definitely visit again. more
Friendly & helpful staff/ great hotel/ but very lousy food
We booked a 2 wk stay at this resort, all incl. very disappointing, food although had a varied and extensive range was of extremely poor and questionable standard, quite often appeared stale and and left unattended for some time, though the staff were friendly and extremely helpful at all times, poolside was unfortunately of poor hygiene, cigarette ends, discarded food and broken glass became an almost familar sight on a daily basis but was always attended to when mentioned to staff members a.s.a.p.. Hotel rooms were spotlessly clean and... more
Looked at these reviews - wasn't disappointed!
Stayed as a couple for 10 nights in Oct 04. Read reviews on this site and took the plunge - good move! I've had four all inc. holidays now and this is as good as any. Food was excellent, and there was always a choice buffet style from cooked meals to salads. Cleanliness at this hotel was second to none and the rooms were at the top end of three star, although a puny fan was no match for the sad omission of an air conditioning unit. The restuarant was ran military style, with two sittings in the evening of which you had to book at the start... more
fantastic hotel and location
We have just returned from 2 weeks atthis hotel and could not fault it. My husband and I took our 6 year old son and had a great time. The food is excellent with a huge choice for everyone - even kids. The snack bar( included) also serves a late breakfast - useful! and toasties, burgers, hotdogs pizza salad etc as well as lunch being in the main restaurant. Staff are SUPERB and rooms spotless. we stayed in block A on 5th floor which was near the bar but could hear little noise at all. maid service daily and a free bus to beach which is great... more
Excellent holiday
My mom and I went to stay at the Rui Wakiki we went there some years ago while it was still half board but when we booked for this year we found it was all-inclusive. We had an superb time and enjoyed every minute. The entertainment was excellent as were the entertainment staff. They were very good and friendly, there was a swedish man and a belgian man who were both very good at speaking English. The entertainment program was very good at night time and the daytime progamme including bingo, exercises, water aerobics and fashion shows. more
superb hotel
Just returned from a fantastic week at the riu waikiki in Gran Canaria, with my wife 2 children aged 5&6 years and the inlaws. First impressions are that the staff were very friendly and the place was clean, this didnt change throughout the hotel. Food was excellent a wide variety of choice, if you miss a meal there is a food service at the pool bar. The hotel staff really make you feel welcome as long as you can say "hola" to the chambermaid they give you a big smile and the rooms are spotless!! Only problem with... more
