Sep 2006, Miss C  Ray

We arrived at half eight at night, rather hungry, the two people at reception were charming and looked after our cases whilst we went off for a bit to eat. The food was fabulous, Something there for everyone! The languages of the hotel was wonderful, French, Spanish, English and German, and all the reps at the hotel really made an effort to make sure everyone was understanding.
The entertainment was great, the daytime activities are not to be missed!! A real good laugh and an opportunity to make friends. With a real variety of night time entertainment there is something there for every taste.
Having a complementary bus to the beach was a real hand, and the beach was lovely, warm, but with a lovely breeze, and so easy to pick up a tan!
The nightlife at the nearby Yumbo centre, was absolutely no to be missed, the best night we al enjoyed was at the cafe l' belle which is a family friendly drag show, charming and very funny, and also free!
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, there is something for everyone, as our party ranged from 14 to 60. I really did enjoy myself and hope to go back very soon!!

Sep 2006, Miss Emily

Just got back from riu waikiki and I have to say, it was fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious, something for everyone from fresh meats with veg, to pizza, chips, burgers, and the food is to a very high standard!
The rooms are a good size, big enough for myself and my friend, maids are very keen and keep the room spotless! It didn’t get too hot either for saying there was only a ceiling fan to keep you cool. All staff are excellent really friendly and always keen to help, pool bar was especially good so you could just help yourself to beer, wine, soft drinks, and hot drinks.
There’s a miniclub for kids and a small pool by it, so there weren’t many screaming kids around the main pool. The only problem was the pool, it was freezing! Took a while to get in but once your in your fine. Took a trip to the beach in a taxi, there’s a free bus that runs but there were too many people waiting to fit on so we went in a taxi which was only €2 anyway, didn’t stay for long though as it was really windy and the sand was just blowing everywhere.
Night life is amazing, loads of night clubs and bars, if you do go its worth taking a trip to Wemblys, all English if you have enough of the many different nationalities that stay, its good fun. Overall its definitely worth going if you enjoy just relaxing by the pool, eating, and having a good time!

Aug 2006, Mrs J L  Marshalll

We arrived at Rui Waikiki and the 1st thoughts were that we had was we had arrived at Colditz. Well the feeling never left us for the whole 2 week duration.
The rooms are very small and like a prison cell, not that I have ever been in a prison but they were very very small. We never had our bedding changed for the whole 2 weeks.
The population of the hotel is 95% foreign, not got a problem with that but do think we should have been warned of this before we went. The entertainment was very poor as well, we have been to this island 4 times now and would not recommend this hotel again,
The food was 100% all the time, very repetitive but excellent quality. The location is set back form the major buzzing places so not too noisy, the Wembley bar is a fab nite out, had lots of English beer as well.
Also if Leonie is reading this please leave your email address and Whitney will contact you asap.

Jun 2006, Miss K Rowntree

We arrived at half past one in the morning and after checking in the receptionist told us that we could go and have something to eat and drink and gave us the key for the dining room. It was only salad, cold meats and bread, and beer and wine of course, but it was more than we expected.
We found the rooms to be exceptionally clean, with a daily maid service and bed linen changed once during the week we were there. Breakfast and lunch you can sit anywhere but at dinner time the first day you have to choose between the 6.30pm and 8.30pm sitting.
You are allocated the same sitting and table for the rest of your stay. In regards to the food, you'd have to be a really fussy eater if you couldn't find something you liked, there was a great choice. I'd recommend putting a towel on a sun bed before you go to breakfast as you might be stuck in a shady corner otherwise. The raised terrace was great for all day sun. The entertainment is a bit slow, as everything is done in half a dozen languages, but they really make an effort.
Try the sangria making by the pool bar, yummy. If you miss that, the pina coladas are worth a dabble. A fridge in the room would've been nice, but all in all the place is great. I would most definitely go back.

Have just come back from a very...

Apr 2006, Mrs L Eglington

Have just come back from a very enjoyable week at this hotel. As reported by others, the hotel is very clean and welcoming, and the food is of a good standard. Drink measures are vast. We found the bedroom rather on the small size for the three of us (me, my husband and 9 year old daughter), but saying that we only used it to sleep in and all the usual stuff.
The maid kept the room spotless and was very prompt each morning. We enjoyed the evening entertainment and would say that it is of a higher standard than we are used to (usually in 4 or 5 star rated hotels). The hotel is certainly popular with the German guests, and there were very few Brits indeed, but this wasn't a problem for us, all the staff spoke good English and the entertainment was of an international flavour. As a family we do not participate in the daytime activities and my daughter is not interested in the kiddy club at her age.
We found lots to do as a family, we were close to the beach and dunes, we love to shop (and it's so cheap compared to the other Canary Islands), we went to Sioux City and my husband and daughter went to Aqualand - thoroughly enjoyable. Tips for Aqualand - do take something to throw on your feet between slides as the pavements get really hot and are quite rough on the feet, do take a taxi instead of a bus and get a discount voucher off their website (the saving pays for the taxi!). Sioux City was an enjoyable evening although the barbeque was rather basic. A good evening was had by all.
Would certainly recommend the Hard Rock Cafe for a change, it's only a ten minute stroll away. We would certainly come again to Gran Canaria and would like to see more of this lush island. Would use the hotel again.

Excellent Hotel. Ideal location, close to everything you need. The cleanest hotel I have stayed in. The entertainment was better then the usual standards of all inclusive hotels. We even went out for a drink with the entertainment staff, had great fun. Good for couples and families.
The food was great, lots of choice and you can even see it being cooked and ask for how you prefer your meat to be.
Overall a great hotel, I will definitely be going back.

The room was fine had everything you need very clean and tidy. the food was very good not great for the waist line as there is so much choice. The staff there was very friendly. The only thing I wasn’t happy about the Thomson rep wasn’t there to meet you at the airport and the only time I saw him was at the welcome meeting, didn’t tell much about the bars in the area. There was a free bus to beach which was good. I walked as it wasn’t that far. There was many Germans there which is fine if you speak German lol.
I didn’t go to entertainment as it didn’t seem very good. The pool was a good size. When you get there you are given a map of the area which came in handy. I went on a spirit of the sea tour where you go on a boat ride to look dolphins which was really good I did see some and it was amazing.

Returned 30/10/05 from Riu Waikiki...

Nov 2005, Mr S Oshodi

Returned 30/10/05 from Riu Waikiki and i must say i will certainly be back again food was 10/10 accommodation 9/10 but entertainment a lowly 5/10 especially for kids, if your child can speak German it rises to7/10.There is a wide food selection of both hot freshly prepared foods plus all sorts of salads etc, in the morning even if you are up late i.e. 10 am you will find breakfast is available at the pool bar and for the rest of the day toasted sandwiches chips etc will help you to keep the waistline down.
They have lagers, soft drinks available for you on a self service basis so watch those kids and cocktails, sangria and wine will be serve by the helpful bar staff. If you are thinking of going to the Waikiki you will not be disappointed as long as you don’t have very demanding children.

Jun 2005, Mrs P Shipman

My husband, 14yr old daughter and I stayed here for 2 weeks, it is very friendly, very clean, the food served at this hotel is some of the best we have had while on an all inclusive holiday, the chefs actually cook the food in front of you. It is not left on hot plates.
The rooms are basic but comfortable, there is a ceiling fan to use when you wish. A cleaning lady comes in every day to empty bins, make the beds etc. The bedding is exchanged twice a week.
Wine, beer and soft drinks are self service. WOW. Waiters serve only spirits and cocktails, rapidly. The entertainment is what you would expect local acts or the hotel animation team, but there is plenty of nightlife close by if preferred. There is a pool bar (open till 12pm) and a terrace with no entertainment, unless provide by the guests.
It is a multi national hotel but all the staff talk very good English. I would have no hesitation recommending this one to my friends and family. I haven’t given this a 10/10 but its not far off two things lets it down there is no laundrette on site and the bars shuts at 12. Enjoy

Gorgeous hotel with brilliant food....

Jul 2004, Miss J Irvine

Gorgeous hotel with brilliant food. Could not fault the hotel or staff! The hotel was cleaned very frequently and done so to a very high standard. The pool looks better than the pictures, as does the food. The food was amazing, massive array of choice everyday all cooked in front of your eyes. If you want to guarantee good food on a half board basis, then this hotel is a must. Bar and pool service was very efficient with excellent food and cocktails. There was lots of free entertainment at the hotel such as bingo with cocktails, t-shirts, hats and ice creams to be won. Night entertainment also available, however there are so many brilliant bars, clubs and other entertainment near by your spoilt for choice. The beach is nearby with a regular bus service from the hotel during the day, however taxis are so cheap if you miss the bus and don’t feel like walking your not stuck.
All together one of the best holidays that I have ever had. Very very highly recommended.
