Location, location, location

The location of this Hotel is first class, literally, in the 1st district. Just at the Louvre, near the metro, the Seine, Place de la Concorde, etc, etc. I have stayed many times in Paris and without doubt this location is the best. Tourists whilst present are not prevalent, affluent Parisiens are the norm. The Hotel was chic, the rooms fashionable but very small. The breakfast was excellent, lots of to eat.
Great Location

My wife and I stayed for two nights in October 2005. We agree with other commentators that the rooms are small and the placing of the bath and toilet doors most peculiar. It is very well placed to walk to all the major attractions - though we would recommend buying museum tickets in advance. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel only because it was served in a small basement room which was fairly cramped. Behind the hotel is the Marche St-Honore which has a good selection of bars and restaurants (we had excellent breakfasts there watching the world go by). There are numerous restaurants near the hotel. There is a pleasant looking restaurant almost opposite the hotel in an atmospheric celler. It provided a first for us when we were asked to leave after politely complaining about the slow service and quality of food - and we were only responding to a request for feedback from the owner!
Great Location But ......

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in June 2005 in a small room on the top floor; it had an even smaller bathroom with a bizarre arrangement of doors. The location was perfect – the hotel is within easy walking distance of many of Paris’ attractions and the Tuileries Metro station. However, the air conditioning in our room was very noisy and ineffective – the outside temperature being over 30 deg C during our stay. To make matters worse water dripped from the ceiling when we switched it off; the Hotel didn’t manage to fix this during our stay. The breakfast was fine and was served by friendly and attentive staff, although the breakfast room is a bit cramped. We never discovered a fire escape route from our room!
Fantastic!

Not blown away by our stay - the hotel was fairly difficult to find (need a very detailed map book), and the staff had forgotten that we had booked a twin room. This necessitated the maid being called from her afternoon nap to pull the second bed out of a cupboard and make it up for us, with a great deal of huffing. Once the bed was down the room was tiny - only one person could walk at a time, the other had to sit on the bed, and it was not particularly clean. Bathroom was acceptable. Hotel staff as a whole did not speak english (not a complaint, just an observation - you are in paris after all). Location was nice and quiet, and there was a great little restaurant just around the corner with fantastic food.

A quiet hotel within easy reach of shops, L'Opera, the Louvre and Musee D'Orsay. Plenty of reasonable restaurants nearby. Staff were pleasant and efficient, room was clean and breakfast was fine. Recommended.
Excellent!

My husband and I just returned from a 3-day/2-night trip to Paris. We stayed here as part of an Expedia.com holiday package. We can't say enough positive things about Hotel des Tuileries. Our room, although small, was clean, well-equipped (plenty of towels and brilliant tolietries, such as Green Tea and Lemon soap, and bottles of bath salts), charming, and oh so very French. The windows opened up, so there was plenty of fresh air available and a lovely view of the red geranium window planters across the street. Nicely decorated, plenty of wardrobe space. Bed was roomy and comfortable. Only drawback was no hot water kettle for tea. :-( Our room choice from our package was Grand Confort. I emailed the hotel a few days prior to our departure, telling them that this trip was a "honeymoon" of sorts, and asked them - if at all possible - to assign us their prettiest Grand Confort room. When we arrived, we were informed that we had been given a DOUBLE UPGRADE, and in our room was a chilled bottle of champagne with a handwritten note of congratulations from the staff. ALL AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. Breakfast is served in the Breakfast Room every morning, but we did not eat there as it was not a part of our package deal. Staff were very friendly, and the location is superb. An easy walk from the Tuileries Metro ... and only blocks away from the Louvre and the best hot chocolate on the planet at Angelina's. :-) The room rates may be dear, but if you book it as part of a package deal, it is excellent value for money. --------------------------------------
A noisy "Silence hotel"
from Moby9
We stayed here for 3 nights for New Year 2003. The room and bed were OK but nothing special even though we paid extra for a higher than normal standard room (Grande Confort). Even though it's advertised as a 'Silence Hotel' we found it difficult to get one decent night's sleep which was very frustrating and prompted us to buy ear plugs and even with that it was still too noisy to sleep. The noise was not from the outside but the inside banging doors all night, no 'do not disturb signs' which meant that the maid came into the room three times one morning while we were trying to sleep, and the chandelier rattling overhead everytime someone in the room above us moved. Another thing we noticed was that although the hotel information given in the room said there was a mini-bar and 24 hour room service for hot beverages this was not the case and we could not even get a cup of tea in the hotel. One other complaint was that we were only left one towel in the bathroom. Basically for 190 Euro per night we were disappointed although the location was central and good with decent restaurants and bars only a short walk away.
Love L'Hotel Des Tuileries!

This really is a terrific little hotel. My family and I (and another family) stayed there in 2001, and my wife and I returned in 2002. The rooms are not large, but they are comfortable and they are very different from each other -- each has its own character. The hotel has the absolute perfect location on the Right Bank, very close to everything. It is on a quiet little street, though, so it is not loud. The proprietors are very, very friendly and they are very accommodating to Americans. I would strongly recommend this hotel as a relatively inexpensive lodging which is very enjoyable.

I haven't had the experience of staying there. I had booked this hotel a few years ago, changed at the last minute, we went to see it anyway. It is on a quiet side street in the first. Beautifully decorated, but rooms and bathrooms (I saw three sets) extremely small, hallways so narrow that two people couldn't pass each other. The day I was there the one tiny elevator was out of order; I dont know if that was a rare occurrence or not. For the price, which was relatively high for a small hotel, I was glad to stay elsewhere. However, it is highly recommended in the books Great Sleeps in Paris, Fodors Paris, and elsewhere. Has air conditioning.

This hotel is small but in a great location just a short street away from the Tuileries gardens and the Louvre. Walking from the hotel entrance to the nearest metro station you pass all the 'typical' French shops - a bar where people outside resting their wine on a large... more
