Great location and very clean and comfortable
My wife and I stayed here in July 2004 and found it a great base. It's just off the Boulevard St Michel , in a quiet side street and with no traffic noise to speak of. It is only a couple of minutes walk from the Boulevard St Germain and the lovely Jardins du Luxembourg are only a 5 or 10 minute stroll up the road - a real oasis in the city. The Hotel room size seems to have attracted mixed comments . Our triple room ( we aslked for a bouble , but were given a 3 bedded room)was plenty big enough and the bathroom was well laid out ,... more
Fantastic Location/Large Bathrooms
A friend and I stayed here in March of 2004 for a "girls" art museum trip. The location was unbelievable, just two blocks from the intersection of St. Germain and St. Michel, yet it was on a very quiet street, from which we heard no noise during our entire stay. There was a cut through to the movie theater section at Odeon, and it was snap to get to all the Paris locations. If you like the Left Bank, this is a great place. The room was quite large and comfortable with plenty of closet space, and the bathroom was roomy enough to... more
Great location; wondeful staff!
We (wife, daughter, me) spent five nights at the Hotel Central Saint Germain in late June 2004. As other reviewers have noted, it is in a great location for sightseeing, starting right outside. The hotel is on a narrow one-block long street with (at least) four cinemas, some showing classic films. As the hotel is one block from the Sorbonne, the movie crowds contained an assortment of richly colorful characters, from serious young art students to graying professors on bicycles. Our room appeared to be recently refurbished and was... more
a lovely nice central place
It's a lovely little hotel! I stayed here in mid-April of 2004. It was very close to Nortre Dame and Metro Station. It was convenient and comfortable. The room is small but that is typical of Paris and a triple room. The shower is a bit tricky. We couldn't figure out how to take a shower without flooding the bathroom floor. There are plenty of restaurants and shops around the hotel. The front desk is very helpful most of time. The black lady is especially helpful and nice. I would definitely stay with them again.
Friendly and Helpful Hotel!
My wife and I stayed here from March 19-24th, 2004, and found the management, staff, and restaurant hosts to be caring, good-natured, and very helpful. They really made our stay in Paris an inviting and relaxing one. Breakfasts in the morning were fantastic--croissants, pain au chocolat, cafe, breads, jams, juice... Also, we enjoyed getting to know some of the staff and it was a wonderful opportunity to practice our French. I particularly needed a brushing up with the language and Abdel and staff were so willing to oblige. Don't worry... more
Wonderful find! Totally recommended for Paris sightseeing
This hotel is situated just off the Boulevard Saint Michelle and close to the Boulevard St Germain. It is within 200 yards of the metro/RER station and around 500 yards to the Ile de Cite and Notre Damme. I is next to a theatre, and just down a small cobbled lane from the Sorbonne. The rooms are very clean, well furnished and of a good size and the breakfast is served in a lovely room and is well recommended to start the day. The reception staff could not be more helpful and we had a wonderful stay! Highly recommend it.
Great Location
I stayed here in August for two nights and it was brilliant. The room was pretty tiny but very nicely decorated and the bathroom was quite big. It only had a shower though. 5 mins walk from Notre Dame and about a 2-3 min walk to the Metro station. Fantastic location, walking distance to Louvre as well as many other attractions. The only prob was the breakfast The first day was terible, all the croissants were gone and they were baking more from frozen and they took ages. Apart from that we just ate cereal. I'd suggest going out for... more
Excellent choice for Paris
We stayed at the Hotel Central St. Germain in June, 2003. What a quaint, comfortable hotel! The rooms are smaller than what we are used to in the States, but spotlessly clean and well appointed. The furnishings are first rate and the bathroom was sparkling. However, the most commendable thing about this hotel is the excellent staff. They were all very helpful and very anxious to please us in every way. We were expecting some French snobbiness and instead, got a very warm and inviting welcome. We hope to return to Paris and would absolutely... more
Bright spot in our rainy visit
We spent 5 days in Paris and now know why we were advised to avoid the rainy season! One of the bright spots in our visit was the Central Saint Germain Hotel. It was within walking distance of Notre Dame, the sights and restaurants of the Latin Quarter, and around the corner from a metro station. The daytime manager was especially delightful, and goodnaturedly assisted me with my attempts at high school French while speaking English. Our room was spotless, charming and had plenty of room for three adults. Breakfast (included) was... more
Great deal/good time.
We stayed at the Central St. Germain last August (2002). After a slight mix-up attributable to poor software construction, we were shown to a nice, large, attractively decorated room on the 5th floor. There were three adults in our family group. Everything was spotlessly clean and very attractive (newly decorated). The A/C was 1st rate, a good thing, as the weather was very hot! The hotel is located near the Sorbonne and we found the location very accesssible to everyting we wanted to do. It is on a weird, but quiet street and an ATM... more
