Britannique Hotel

Stayed at Hotel Britannique 4 nights at end of June. Wonderful experience. Room was beautifully appointed, immaculate, and packed with amenities (hair dryer,A/C, safe, fridge, flat-screen TV, terry robe, beauty aids). Large window opened to street below w/window box of geraniums. Friendly, helpful, multi-lingual staff, convenient location, close to Metro Line #1. Room was small, but included queen size bed, and after all this was a "single". Would definitely stay there again, and recommend it highly.

The Hotel Britannique was great! It's a perfect sanctuary from the hot weather if you are traveling to Paris in the summer (like we did). The rooms are small, but very clean and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and had a great shower. You have to take stairs to go up to the rooms because the elevator is tiny and can only fit 3 people max. Staff was so helpful in everything we needed. Location was perfect. We were able to walk to the Louvre and Notre Dame easily. Really made our trip to Paris relaxing and enjoyable.

We just returned from a 15 day stay at the Britannique. It could not have been nicer. Our room had a small balcony from which you could see the Hotel de Ville. The breakfast which can be delivered to your room was very nice with even scramble eggs (available in the dining room) in addition to cereals, yogurt, hams, and lots of bread, brioche, croissants, fresh juices, coffee, etc. Our room #51 was a delight! My boyfriend and I stayed in a top floor room in March this year and had a lovely time. The hotel was very reasonably priced for a great central location and the room was sparkling clean (especially the gleaming bathroom). The rooms were not enormous but again, this IS Paris, yadda yadda. Breakfast was great value for money seeing it was unlimited cold meats, cheeses etc good quality and choice and better than getting ripped off for 9euros for a croissant and coffee at a cafe. Highly recommended!

Let's start with the negatives: Small room, furnished in a "my grandmother's attic guest room" style. Tiny bath, with a problematic shower. Squishy bed. Okay, that's over with. Why is the Hotel Britannique "above average"? Let's face it, any acceptable lodging one minute from the Ile de la Cite (Notre Dame, the Concergerie), ten minutes from the Louvre, five minutes from the Latin Quarter is something special. This was our third time to stay in the Hotel Britannique. We had a lovely room on the second floor; however, the noise level from other rooms was much higher than on previous trips. In the past the hotel rooms had fabric paneled walls that deadened sound. Those panels have been removed, and at times noise from adjacent rooms was too loud for sleeping. The hotel is in a perfect location that is convenient for walking or taking the metro. It would be hard to find anything in this price range that is better.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Britannique for 8 nights in mid-May, based on the reviews found here on TripAdvisor. We were in room 51, and we loved it! Yes, the room was somewhat small, but it had all the space we needed to be quite comfortable. If anything, the size only added to the coziness and charm. My partner and I have just returned from a two night stay at the Britannique, which I had booked directly with the hotel. Everything was exactly as descibed on the hotel's web-site, and more! The most comfortable pillows that I've ever had in any hotel! Fantastic location for exploring by foot, metro, bus or batobus. Excellent value for money. We feel that the only negative point about this hotel is the lack of Tea and Coffee making facilities in the rooms, and the lack of a hot drinks vending machine.

The hotel is small, clean, and characterful, ideal as a three-day stop-over to visit central tourist attractions on foot. The rooms are small but the beds capacious, comfortable and spotless. The smallness of the rooms might make a longer stay more of a problem. The buffet continental breakfast offered of fruit/cereals/croissants/toast is fine, though at €13 you may prefer at least once to have a couple of croissants and coffee a deal cheaper round the corner at the patisserie. I read the great reviews on Hotel Britannique and decided to try it - I am a French citizen living in London and visit Paris once a month, so am trying usually different hotels for variety when I do not stay with friends. The hotel is very well located, very central - one can walk easily to most major attractions of Paris. I was delighted to be able to walk back from Le Cabaret, on Place Royale, one of the best nightclubs in the early hours of Sunday morning.
