A nice but rather pricey hotel which has the big disadvantage of being located some distance from the city centre which is not ideal on a short break sightseeing holiday.
Prague is a fascinating and diverse city which lots to see and the best way to get round is on foot.
The Jewish quarter was our number one stop followed by Prague Castle, the Old Town and the Funicular railway. Wenceslas Square was a major disappointment. The guided Ghost walk tour in the evening was full of surprises.
We only stayed for 4 days but an extra day would have been better to enable us to see everything, especially as we wasted time travelling back and forth to the hotel which, in our humble opinion was too far out.

The hotel has some lovely features, the dining room is a converted theatre hall and is very stunning. The food here was delicious but quite pricy compared to other restaurant prices in Prague.
The Hotel bar was small but modern and good for a quick drink before a night out.
Our room was very nice, clean and modern with plenty of space and a good view across Prague. The hotel had lots of amenities including Internet access in the main reception.
A point to note is that the hotel is a bit further out from the main centre - although the tram is very near by and it only takes 5 minutes to get into the centre. On foot would take about 20 minutes.

Prague , a city of culture, fine gothic architecture and a fantastic getaway for 2 nights.
Only 1hour 55 mins from Manchester and after clearing customs and getting your bag , only another 1 hour to reach the centre of the city. Once you arrive in the arrival hall, go to the city transportation desk and buy a public transport pass for as little as £5 (200 koruna) for a 3 day unlimited pass covering all of the bus routes ,metro and trams.
Bus no 119 will take you as far as it goes and then take a tram to your desired hotel. The airport staff in the information desk will locate your hotel and tell you the tram number you need to take. IF you decide not to buy a pass for the tram then the total cost of a short term transport ticket from the airport to the hotel can be as little as 30 pence, a huge saving on taxi fares.
BE AWARE that I have been told that fake Police officers are are asking tourists for ID and then taking your cash and credit cards from your wallet. It is best practice to keep your air tickets, passport and surplus cash in your hotel room safe so that if you happen to chance on these fakers and pickpockets , then you have not lost all your belongings and money.
The city is small enough to walk in and around the best sights in 1 day, however a strongly suggest taking a guided city tour which lasts 3 and 1 half hours costing approx £15 which gives you a quick guide to what you need to know without the hassle of reading a book.
You may happen to chance upon market traders off the Old Town square and these stall holders will haggle on the price of souvenirs, its worth a go as most souvenir shops in the alley ways off the the old town square will only sell at marked prices.
The hotel Teatrino although rather bland in its decor, is an excellent choice to reach the main city sights in no more than a 5 min tram ride. The trams are an excellent way of getting around the city and very cheap.
The choice of bars and places to eat is enormous and for those of you wanting a romantic time to celebrate that special occasion, then Prague is the best choice as you will often see kissing couples on the Charles Bridge indicating that Prague is that special city you will never forget and remember for all time.

Alcotel Teatrino is set in Zizkov approx 5 miles out of the centre of Prague and near the Zizkov tower. The area allows you to gain a greater insight into Prague life as it is in what used to be a Communist stronghold within Prague. The hotel is very clean, excellent value for money and only a short tram ride away from the city centre.
Zizkov also has some excellent local bars selling VERY cheap beer and wine.
I would recommend this holiday to anyone. Prague is such a beautiful city and still excellent value for money. For my wife and I it is a must visit location which ranks up there with Paris and New York.
I am yet to meet anyone who has visited and not fallen in love with the city.

Excellent - something for everyone in this beautiful city.
Prices are still cheap for everything - food, transport, beer, hotels.
I would suggest reading on-line travel guides for ideas "off the beaten track".
Visit Prague Castle via Charles Bridge - lovely walk and scenery is amazing - stop off on the way up the hill for a beer in a pavement cafe and watch the world go by.
After seeing the Castle and Cathedral, head for a bar and sample the local Goulash and dumplings (with another beer) before heading back to Wenceslas Square.
Best way to get around town is by tram (price is unbelievable!).

We have just returned from a short break in Prague. Our hotel, the Arcotel Teatrino, was in the Zizkov area which is the old communist stronghold of the city. The area is rather run down and grimy and had little to offer.
This coupled with the fact it was located some distance from the city centre (4 miles) made it a poor choice for us especially as we wasted a lot of time travelling back and forth to our accommodation.
The hotel itself was adequate but overpriced. It is probably idea if your main aim is trace the communist roots of Prague but otherwise had little else to recommend it. The centre of Prague itself was very interesting with lots to see. It is best seen on foot and we would recommend going on our of the conducted Ghosts walks from the Old Town square in the evening.
Also Prague castle was fascinating but you do need to spend a full day there. Avoid Taxis as they constantly overcharge and the public transport system is efficient and cheap.
Provided you avoid eating around the main square dining out is very reasonably priced especially if you find a small authentic Czech restaurant in the back streets. Sorry we cannot remember its name.
