Hotel Academie top hotel for price and location
from A TripAdvisor Member
This was a really nice hotel and good value. Rooms were not huge, but certainly adequate and clean. Bathrooms were clean and decent-sized. Both bathroom and bedroom were quite bright with large windows overlooking the street. Noise was not a problem during the sweltering heat because of double-glazing and the great air-conditioning system. Beds were comfortable. The staff was unbelievably hospitable and helpful. I would definitely stay here again given the great location at this price. I highly recommend it.
Great Hotel--DO NOT Believe the Lies on This Page
from A TripAdvisor Member
The rooms in the Hotel de 'l Academie are small, even by Paris standards, but we found the entire hotel very charming, very clean, and EXTRAORDINARILY accommodating and helpful. After we checked out, the Hotel de 'l Academie allowed us to leave our luggage all day until very late at night with absolutely no attitude. When we returned, in the middle of a fierce rainstorm, the kind gentleman at the desk, negotiated a special night rate (20 euro off) for a taxi directly to Orly airport on our behalf. This man talked with us for a...

Great location
from bbjones94102
My wife and I stayed here in March of 2003. The room was very small, in fact the bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom. The room was clean and the desk help very helpful. The location is what makes this Hotel. When we go to Paris again, we would stay in the same area, but definitely a different Hotel. Internet access in the lobby was very convenient. I wish we had checked TripAdvisor before we booked. We are going to Rome this year and TripAdvisor has been very helpful in helping us find a room.
Disappointing
from JBFChicago
I wish that I had read previous Trip Advisor reviews before I had booked. Everyone's review on Trip Advisor had the same comments that we experienced - very well worn room and smelly, needs new paint job and bathroom tiles. We had a double deluxe room - had to rearrange furniture to even close the bathroom door, no toilet paper supplied on 2 separate days, nasty extra blankets not even folded but shoved in closet, couldn't even open closet fully due to furniture in way, night tables about to fall apart (didn't even have a bottom in its...

Don't do it....
from Kätzchen
In the years until about 1991 we stayed in this "lovely" inn every year for the French agricultural fair and came back because of the great service etc.....well I realise the time span is great but our first trip in years and last trip in 2004 was a disaster. Overbooked for the first night so they sent us to their dependance out no-where in the middle of the night (late arrival at 10pm - which was noted there also), then the next morning out early because business associates were arriving early, the rooms both not finished, then finally the...

Web Page Photo's R Deceiving - Not Friendly to Americans
from dddenise
Stayed Dec. 26th - Dec 31st 2004 To start off, the pictures on the web are deceiving. I have been to Europe many times and I know what to expect from European hotels. The hotel furnishings are ran down and a bit dirty. We had a toilet that was hard to flush and had trouble with the five nights we stayed. After the room was cleaned we were left one towel and sheets not changed, not toilet paper, no klenex and the cleaning staff smelt very bad with B.O. The man on duty that night (George), was informed of the problems. Everything was...

Got what I paid for
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed here in October. I'd echo a lot of what has been said, smallish rooms, sketchy carpets, tax charge even though supposedly inclusive. Location is good. I did not try the food. You get what you pay for and not a Euro more. We did switch rooms and if you have the chance I'd ask to see a choice. There is a lot of variation in size, location and condition. Street is busy so stay at least on the 3rd floor or off the front or it will be noisy. For a 3-Star it seems there may be better choices further toward the Latin Quarter. Where...

Terrible, unproffessional service
from A TripAdvisor Member
Arrived to find our room, the junior suite (the only room advised booking in this hotel) had been booked out to the previous occupants who decided to stay a bit longer. Were given a standard room which was extremely small. No discount, no apologies, no nothing. So extremely dissapointed and upset by the treatment we were given. Recommend you do not stay in this hotel.
Great Location-Nasty Carpets...Not Recommended!
from A TripAdvisor Member
Ok.My beloved and i got this hotel room at an absolute bargain basement internet price so i'll be kind but if we'd actually paid the full tariff i think we'd be pretty damn miffed.Romantic boudoir en Paris....non.Rather shabby and triste...oui.Don't get me wrong, the linen and the bathroom while fairly tired were spankingly clean however the carpet probably had more life than the Pigalle and was as black a painting by Soulanges. The room was also achingly gloomy, however unlike other reviewers we didn't find the noise levels to be a problem...

Good location, OK accommodations, awful service
from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I stayed at the hotel in May 2004. We had traveled quite a bit and had stayed in numerous hotels. This was our worst hotel experience. The hotel is located in a central area with easy access to all the attractions. Restaurants in the neighborhood are rather pricy, but some of them are quite good. Breakfast in the hotel is even more expensive. However, there is a very nice supermarket nearby which has an excellent bakery. Other than the location, there are not a lot of things going for the hotel. The rooms are small,...
