We had 10 lovely days of a 14 day holiday until disaster struck! To start with we had a lovely room, not in the main part of the hotel but in a little block of bungalows. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean. The location was a bit out of the way but there were a... more

Excellent Holiday
This hotel is really lovely, both the pools are a good size and the rooms were also very nice. We were put in the incorrect room for the first night which had a balcony to the back of the hotel but it was facing the mountains behind so it didn't matter that there was no sea view. The friendly staff took care of all the luggage in the move and we were moved to a lovely apartment style room with a nice garden seperating the patio and pool. There is a small shingle beach with a lovely jetty and sunbeds for the guests and just round the corner is a lovely white beach where we went most days. The food here is also excellent and i would also reccomend booking a table at the pool bar for a change to the normal restaurant. Breakfast on the terrace is a must as it is so nice. There is entertainment each night which is varied but a good laugh at times. If you prefer things a bit lively then a short trip into Hersonissos should do the trick and make sure you get your free drink/shots on entry to each place! All together an excellent holiday and i wouldn't hesitate to go back.
good hotel but worst beach I have ever seen
Just arrived home from the Serita Beach hotel, they should drop the word Beach as there is none. What there is are 10 sunbeds situated on what looked like a builders yard with rubbish and dangerous rocks as your view. The only way one could get into the sea was to jump off a jetty, I was not brave enough although I've dived and snorkelled off boats around the world. Second thing about the Serita that was very disappointing are the drinks, they were so bad we were afraid to drink anything other than beer. I asked for a glass of wine from the bar which was off, cloudy and a strong vinigar smell although wine in the restaurant was drinkable (just). Thirdly there is a substance added to the salt water pools, my husband was almost blinded after swimming under water, as were so many others, oh yes and the very slippery tiles around the pools. The hotel itself was very pretty with wonderful gardens and the rooms were freshly painted and comfortable, food good, especially lunch in the Taverna. If this hotel was on a good, clean, safe beach and the drinks were drinkable we would return but that's not going to happen.
Perfect Location
Perfect Location Having read the reviews before my husband and I went to Serita Beach I must admit I was a bit concerned, but I can honestly say that we had a lovely week the food was good and plenty of it and the hotel was so clean too. The staff where so friendly especially the guys around the pool side bar. The hotel is located right on the beach which is just perfect. The location of the hotel is just perfect not too busy and not too quite. The tiles around the pool are very slippery so be careful. We would definately go back.
loved it great holiday
went here in july. my husband my 2 children 18 and 14 years. had one of the best holidays I have ever had. met some great people. my son met 4 lads his age and they went out everynight after the bar closed to anisaris 7 euros in a taxi. my daughter met girls her age and this left me and my husband to have a relaxing holiday. the hotel was very clean. staff very friendly and helpful. it is very slippy near the pool and caution needs to be taken. the two lads who work the pool bar were excellent making our holiday. the entertainment was okay but as everybody met we made our own entertainment chatting whilst the girls watched the entertainment. angel best dancer I ahve ever seen. captains bar down the road serves excellent steaks and there were a couple of bars you could get a nice relaxing drink. we were able to leave our children and enjouy some quality time of our own. the reps do sell bing o tickets but if you dont want to buy you simply say no. this goes for any of the activities. food was okay. it was very hot whilst we were there so watch the time of year you go. thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
Great family holiday
This hotel has had some bad reviews which i do not think are justified. I went with my partner & two children 11 & 14. I agree that the tiles around the pool area are very slippy when wet. You do have to be very careful! The hotel staff work very hard! The hotel was very clean at all times. Main Restaurant is nicely located with an area with views overlooking the sea. The food is average but fresh and plenty. I would particulary recommend the pool side restaurant. This was very nice serving fresh pizza/ salads/meats/ fresh bread etc. The pizzas and bread are made fresh there & then for you. (You do have to reserve a table from the main reception.) The best part of the beach is about 5-10 mins walk that's all. Go out at the pool-side exit and turn left. 5 min -10 mins walk and your there. The animation team are absolutely fantastic! They work extremely hard. They put on shows every night. They do like you to get involved in the shows and go around in the day looking for volunteers. I was involved in two shows and would recommend it. It's great fun and who cares your on holiday. (Let your inhibitions go.) There is water gym, water polo, darts and many other activities through-out the day. The only complaint i had was with my intial rooms when i arrived which were by the pool-side. These were soon changed for me and had a nice suite in the hotel complex. I would recommend this hotel for families with children, it's not paradise but doesn't claim it is. Oh, go to the Aqua Plus water park it's brill. Open till 18.00 hrs. It's about 10km away 15 euros for adults and 11 euros for children. It's cheaper after 14.00pm. Taxi costs about 11 euros.
If you value your health, stay away
me , my wife , 2 kids(3 &6) and their grand parents visited the serita beach on a 2 weeks, all inclusive break.on arrival the receptionists were slow, our room was spotless and with a few minor complaints (which were never solved or even addressed) which, i weren't going to let spoil our holiday, we unpacked and made our way to the pool. This was our main complaint about the hotel. The pool was only physically cleaned once in 6 days and at 7pm chemicals were thrown into it, this became a problem for a number of swimmers the next day with temperary blindness which needed rapid first aid.The long grate around the edge was insufficiently covered with a plastic grill and we witnessed many foot injuries. The water itself developed "scum" on the surface and a thick "scum" rim on the inside pool tiles. The surrounding pool tiles, footpaths and steps were EXTREMELEY hazardous so much so that during our 2 weeks there were 2 broken ankles and 4 broken arms amongst the kids and elderley. The food got a little monotonous but fresh. The small eatery and pool bar were excellent. The room maids and waiting on teams were brill. The evenings were very typical of this type of holiday but just bearable. Please, if youve got kids, approach this one with extreme caution.
Friendly and clean
My family consisting of my husband, two girls aged 9 & 7 and my parents in their early 70's had a lovely time at Serita Beach. The rooms were cleaned daily although they were looking a little worn and tired in parts. The staff were first class, from the maids to the seior restaurant staff. All were very friendly and very helpfull. My one complaint is the very slippery pool area. There were signs warning of the danger around the large pool but not around the smaller pool where our room overlooked, which we used daily. We also saw a number of accidents of children slipping and I had to constantly watch our girls to make sure they didn't run around the pool area at all. One young teenager badley cut her toe open because not all the grids around the pool were fixed securely and she caught it in one of the larger gaps. Another lady slipped down the steps and broke a couple of toes in the process. There were many walking around with arms and legs in plaster due to falling. My Mum also slipped the day before we left and badly cut open her leg. We also noted the pool attendant throwing raw chlorine in the pool at night and it still sitting in the bottom of the pool the next morning. Not good. The food did lack a little imagination but we never went hungry. There was always something there that you could eat and the desserts were to die for. I would also like to make a personal mention to the boys working in the pool bar, who were great. Always smiling and teasing the kids. And an especially, big thank you to Theadora the waitress in the main bar who was the most hard working happiest person I met there and they all worked hard and made you feel special. The animation team were great for the kids but not for us I'm afraid but then we always go all inclusive and we know what the entertainment is going to be like so it wasn't dissappointing just what we expected. The animation team did come around selling bingo tickets every night but all you had to do is say no and they never tried pressuring you. If you wanted to take part you could but if you wanted, like us, to just sit outside and watch the world go by, then you could do that too. Not much here for a family with teenagers though. If you like to get out and see the real Crete, hire a car for a few days there are some stunning coast line to travel along which will bring you upon the most beautiful beaches and mountain backdrops. Wouldn't stay at the Serita again but then we have never stayed anywhere twice as there is so much more in the world to see and do but we will definately go back to Crete one day.
blinded by the pool
we were pleasantly greated, on arrival, despite losing a suitcase en-route,the accommodation was what we expected and our first impressions were favourable. The food and drink were plentyful, but lacked imagination when it came to poolside snacks as there were only popcorn, crisps, ices from the top bar and a few filled rolls;- very limited. The area around the swimming pool and the footpaths between the accommodation blocks were very slippery, as every nihgt the grass gets a watering, and this spills onto the tiles and the tiles become very slippery.Whilst we were there 2 of our party had falls, as luck has it they were not serious, but whilst I was waiting in reception. one day, a little Dutch girl was being escorted to hospital with what looked like a broken arm!! I saw another lady departing the hotel on crutches!! There were no signs to warn anybody of the slippery state of the tiles....I fealt that this was a big failing. when I dived into the pool and swam under water, on coming up for air I opened my eyes and was in so much pain and actually blinded for 45 mins.It took a nurse, who was on holidays to guide me tto rinse out the salt water with fresh water. The pain was unbearable and I suffered the next day.I also witnessed another little girl suffer the same effects of the salty pool, she was in hysterics and her father had to hold her under a shower to relieve her anguish.......once again there were no warnings!! As a family we enjoyed the food, morning noon and night but the entertainment is something to behold.......talk about childish, the animation team took the biscuit. The entertainment was appalling. The best nights, in my oppinion, were when the audience were involved i.e. Karaoke and Mr+Mrs. T animation team pestering you to buy bingo tickets and raffle tickets were, to be honest, a pain in the arse!! The brochure states that the hotel is 3 Km from the resort centre.Well Hersonissos is more like 10 Km away, as it took me about one and a half hours to walk one way! There are a few bars nearby, but still quite a fair walk and they were under construction whilst we were there. I would go back to the Serita Beach, as we enjoyed the hotel for all its faults. The rooms were cleaned every day, we enjoyed the food and the bar/waiting staff were some of the friendliest we have ever met. Nigel Williams, Rhondda, South Wales.
Lovely clean hotel
On arriving at the hotel it was very clean and inviting. A porter took our luggage to our room. We had a beautiful room overlooking the pool and sea. The rooms had air conditioning, hairdryers, etc and were cleaned every day. The hotel is situated in a quiet resort, but only 7 euros in taxi to hersonissos. Annisaras is very friendly, nice and unspoilt. The entertainment is fantastic for families with children - ours are 10 and 8 years and they loved it. The Animation team as they are known involve the children and adults all day long in activities such as table tennis, pool games, fishing and in the evening there was a kids disco. The food is european and was good - fish, pasta, salad, bread, pizza, meat dishes, etc. The desserts were lovely and the drinks were not watered down. Overall a lovely clean hotel, good entertainment, polite and helpful staff, but still keeping it's greek characteristics, ie not Butlins. More suited to families with children. Donna - Mexborough, South Yorkshire
Eary Season has Benefits!!
Fantastic! One of the best holidays yet and especially for the money. If you stay at the end of the season, as did the reviewer from UK, then expect tired staff, buildings, environment, etc. But of course, most of us know that!! If you go in May then expect: freshly painted buildings, manicured gardens, interested and well dressed staff (lots of them), 60% occupancy (so no fighting for loungers!!), no queues at the bar or restaurant, etc, etc. We had a 'spot the cloud' competition but after 6 days nobody won. Located at the end of a tarmac road (not dusty track) this hotel offered 5* service and attitude. It was a €7 taxi ride into town or a 50 minute walk along empty lanes. Lots to do - if you knew where to look and Reception very helpful. Food was plentiful and with lots of choice. I calculated my hotel charges would have been about €22 pppn to the hotel and for that we got unlimited food, coffee (ask for 'from the machine' and not the urn), drinks, fruit, etc. I just couldn't work out how they could do it for the money. If you go to Cyprus in their 'start of season' in cooler April then you can pay double the money and get much less. If you go to Greece then expect to eat local as that is exactly what the hotel can deliver at lowest cost. If you don't like olive oil, etc then best go for self catering on the Costa Brava and eat English fish and chips ;-) Overall - very good hotel and holiday. I would not consider July/August for double the cost and higher temperatures - our were 28 by day and a cool 19 at night (jumper needed). Finally, Heraklion 'Airport' on a Tuesday is a huge cattle shed with twice the number of passengers than seats - stay cool and consider taking rations with you to help suffer the waiting.
