A Very Welcoming Hotel
from shedbuilder123
Hotel: Marinda Gardens, Cala'n'Bosch Date: Sept 30 2006 This hotel was a very warm & welcoming hotel, the Staff were always helpful & very pleasant, Rooms are adequate & comfortable but to be honest we spent very little time in it as we were on a All Inclusive Basis. The food was very good with plenty of choice but beware at the poolside bar, although very good with excellent service, if you require food from the bar it is not included in the All Inclusive package, you will have pay half price as all food for All Inclusive guests is available from the restaurant which as i said before was excellent. The poolside at High season i would think could be a bit noisy as there is a waterpark & Go-Kart track at the side of the complex, all in all myself & my wife had an excellent time & wouldn't hesitate at returning to the Marinda Gardens which we highly recommend.
Relaxing break
from JDT21
Just back from a week self-catering here (2 adults--myself and grown-up daughter). Apartment absolutely fine for 2 (though there were only 7 clothes hangers so you might want to take some of your own), also well designed so that, despite the very hot weather we barely needed to touch the (very good) air conditioning. Always plenty of hot water, excellent maid service (would change towels daily if you wanted), very clean pool with lots of sun beds, very helpful staff on reception with loads of useful information in folders as well as to give out (like copies of bus timetables). Didn't try Marinda's food (daughter with IBS and other food allergies), but we were assured that there were always plenty of fish, salad and fruit options. Very pleasant laid-back small resort with lots of good shops and restaurants (two of those we tried were especially willing and helpful in dealing with food allergies--try Mr Jaume, who were amazingly caring, and El Pato--both on the marina). Small sandy beach a short walk away (gets a bit crowded, though). Supermarkets have soya milk, but if you have wheat allergies and you're expecting to cater for yourself, take your own wheat-free products. Streets ahead of the UK in terms of recycling--plastic, glass and paper recycling bins all around the Marinda complex, with others for cartons, cardboard and cans at various locations in Cala en Bosc itself (so there's no excuse!). Unless you can use the one-hand type of can opener, though, if you buy any non ring-pull tins, you'll need to buy a can opener (as we did) or take your own! TV less good for non-German speakers, with German MTV (showing occasional reality-TV shows in English), one of the Eurosport channels (with some football and motorsport, but also lots of things like volleyball and weighlifting), and all other channels German showing either German-language programmes or others dubbed into German--guess Marinda have more German than UK tourists! Also, though the water is perfectly drinkable, it makes a thickish syrupy tasting cup of tea or coffee--I recommend you use bottled water for making hot drinks.
Good location, shame about the hotel
from RLNJ
We went to this hotel with my son & his girlfriend. We had two 1 bedroomed apartments. Bad bits: Ours was the worst of the 2 with obvious signs of damp in the walls and ceiling. The whole apartment smelt musty and the beds and linen felt damp the whole time. The tiles in the bathroom were chipped with large chunks missing. The sealant round the bath was either missing or brown. The whole apartment was dark because if you opened the shutters you looked straight into someone elses apartment. The 'terraces' with all the 1 bed apartments are extremley small (approx four and a half by six and a half feet!) a struggle to sit on the 2 plastic patio chairs (no table) and had no privacy. The walls were paper thin (very interesting at times!!). The electric fusebox buzzed all the time. The kitchen sink taps swivelled when turning the taps! Unfortunately the hotel was full so we could not swap rooms however our sons was only marginally better anyway! Good bits: Great location, friendly staff, good range of amenities, quiet after 11.30pm. Cala'n Bosch itself is lovely with lots of good eating places and generally had a great 'buzz' about it especially in the evening. We would come back to the resort but definitley not to the Marinda Gardens!
A good family hotel
from Splog
Great hotel for families, but younger rather than older. My 7 year old daughter loved the entertainment, but 10 year old son hated it. The entertainment from Thomas Cook was awful. Only one of the 3 girls could sing, and boy, did she know it! Other entertainment from outside was ok, usually on a Saturday. Thomas Cook did 3 nights, the rest being Italian or German. Pool was clean and even though it was very busy on some days, always enough room. Didn't ever get up too early for a sunbed and most days if we didn't get there till later, there were always a couple spare. Did not eat in hotel, apart from pool snack bar which was good, but made the mistake of going too late one day, 5 minutes before they closed for food and got turned away! So beware! Ate out at the harbour most nights - loads to choose from and always good. Ate in some nights, but used the supermarket at the top of the harbour as a much better selection, as the shop in the hotel didn't have much choice. Apartment was adequate if a little on the small side. We were downstairs and seemed to be on a main route, but the nights were quiet. Only groan was when someone had an early flight from upstairs, the maid was in there at 6am moving all the beds, chairs etc to clean. The beach was nice, and only 10 minutes walk. We went on a few trips, a boat trip to beach with paella (which was disgusting!). This was very enjoyable, especially in the afternoon jumping off the back of the boat. Highly recommend the Catamaran trip - brilliant day - although it's a coach trip right back to Mahon. And the Thomas Cook reps night was good for a laugh, but drink that free beer quick. Water park next door good, but go at 3pm for half price entry. Over all, nice clean friendly hotel. Entertainment poor.....would we go back? No, too many other places to visit!
Just the Ticket
from MikeVG
If you have kids in the age range 2-16 this is such a great place. The accommodation I felt was better than expected. My only criticisms being - noisy beds, totally inadequate lighting in both the bedroom and lounge / kitchen, also the bathroom was very small. The Hotel Restaurant food was much better than expected. Presentation poor but tasted great. Indeed we found many who eat at the nearby harbour in the 1st week and decided to pay for meals in the Hotel Restaurant as they considered these not just better value but also better taste. We tried 5 restaurants in the harbour and agree wholeheartedly! The pool area had plenty of sun chairs although at times it was difficult to find chairs together if you arrived late morning or early afternoon. The site supermarket was for most things as cheap as the local ones. Cala 'n Bosch is somewhat purpose built but very welcoming especially for families. Prices of everything except soft drinks were very reasonable. In my opinion Menorca has little to set your heart racing but the climate is lovely and a place I don't doubt I will visit again. If my kids have their way they will have us going back there next year!
Wonderful family holiday at the Marinda Gardens
from debs31268
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Marinda Gardens with our children aged 7 & 5 and we had a fantastic time! The apartment we had was in block 4 on the perimeter of the complex and from what I could see of others, ours was bigger and quieter. The accommodation was fairly spacious and spotlessly clean but with very little kitchen space if you were self-catering, however the airconditioning was wonderful (individually controlled) and very welcome in the scorching August heat! We were booked all-inclusive which proved to be a great option as drinks and meals nearby were quite expensive. Our option included breakfast, lunch and dinner in the spacious and airy restaurant, all drinks from 10am to midnight and half-price ice-creams and snacks at the poolside bar. The food was fabulous, different at every mealtime and lots of choice for even the pickiest eaters (including our children!) The pools were lovely, plenty of sunloungers and the three entertainment teams were just great - keeping both children and adults occupied and entertained all day and night. All the staff were friendly and courteous and I could not find fault with anything or anyone at the Marinda Gardens - and I am very picky when it comes to hotel accommodation!!! There was a bus stop right outside the complex to go to Cuitadella and the Marina & beach was about a 5-10 minute walk and very pretty and safe. Well worth a visit for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
Nice hotel, rooms a bit on the small side
from betterthanwork
We found the accommodation on the small side for 2 adults and our 15 year old son. We did in fact, change rooms first day due to having been allocated an apartment smaller than advertised (only 1 sofa bed and even smaller rooms!). Good maid service and the air con was essential. Can't fault the hotel in general - pools were nice, ample sunbeds and parasols, well stocked on-site supermarket (self-catering), nice cosmopolitan feel with German and Italian guests. Only 5-6 mins to the marina and 10 to the beach. All inclusive food and/or drinks upgrades were available upon arrival, but we chose to stock up the fridge with our choices from the shop. Our second stay in this resort, so we knew how good it would be. The lovely beach can get busy, so we visited late afternoon to enjoy a swim in the clear blue sea. In the evenings, we enjoyed eating out at the many well-priced restaurants around the marina. We will definitely return to the resort, but will perhaps look for a 4 star with bigger rooms
Nice Apartments
from Steven01
Steve & Linda ....59 / 54...Booked holiday independently The Marinda Garden apartments were excellent,we stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment on the ground floor, they are very clean and every thing you require was there and in working order including the much needed air conditioning. My only moan about these apartments is if you are on the ground floor the terrace/balcony is not private and everyone walks past . Although we seemed to be on the main route and were just behind the entertainment stage we found it to be really peaceful , no noise during the day or after 11:30pm so we had a good nights sleep every night. Hotel was mainly full of familys with young children and all nationalitys got on really well with each other which gave the hotel a friendly atmosphere . Didn't really stay in the hotel much so cannot comment on food / drink as we eat out every night , did see some entertainment and I must say it was really bad but the kids seemed to like it. Calan Bosch itself is an excellent resort loads of resturants too many to mention , if you like chinese theres one next door to hotel called Hong Kong , it looks a bit shaby and may not have many people eating there but don't be put off the food which was a buffet was really excellent and you could eat as much as you like for 6:95euros ( £4:50 ) Wen to the beach every day ( swimming pool at hotel was good but can get too nosiey for us older people ) about 10min walk or to the beach at Son xoriguer which was 30min walk The beach at son Xoriguer was the best out of the two. This years holiday at Marinda Gardens was really good with the apartments being better than expected, next year we hope to return to Calan Bosch but to a different hotel as Marinda Garden is mainly for familys so have found a quieter Hotel for couples. t
Good Family Hotel
from Hazelizzy
I took my 2 teenage sons to see my daughter who was working as a TC Entertainer. The Bungalows are okay for 2 adults and a child but are a little small for 3 adults. They are not really good for cooking meals in but are okay for snacks. Thye are airconditioned, and the rooms are very clean and tidy, the maids are excellent and leave you cean towells every day. If you go self catering the drinks and food are quite expensive in the hotel but there is a supermarket quite near and the marina is in hsort walking distance and has good restaurants, cafes and bars to eat in. There is plenty going on for the the children during the day and evening and lots of sunbeds so no need to put your towel out at 6 in the morning. The beach is lovely but I can imagine at peak season it will get very busy and that is about a 15 min walk. Overall we had a lovely holiday the weather was beautiful for May and we would definately return.
Loved Marinda Garden
from Hannah.M.
I wanted to write a review to benefit anybody considering booking a holiday to Marinda Garden Cala'n Bosch, Menorca. My partner, two and a half year old son and myself have just returned from a week there and it was fantastic. Firstly it is only a 45 minute or so drive from the airport and the complex is spotlessly clean. We had a one bedroom apartment which was perfectly adequate for us. There was a double sized bedroom and two sofa beds in the lounge area. We just took one of the matresses off the sofa bed and put it on the floor in our bedroom for our little boy. The bathroom had all the facilities you need and the kitchen was small and basic but again adequate. My only fault with the apartment was that there was not an electric kettle, just one to sit on the hob. The staff on the site (and the whole area in fact) were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a kids disco every night usually followed by an entertainment programme for adults/kids. We didn't eat in the restaurant on the site only at the poolside snack bar which was lovely for lunchtimes sat around the pool. The swimming pool was huge with a small pool for toddlers and young children. During the day entertainment staff hosted quizzes by the pool and water polo etc. My only criticism when it comes to the site itself is that it sits very close to a water park and within the water park is a go-karting area which could be a bit noisy at times when relaxing by the pool. Plently of sun loungers though! The town of Cala'n Bosch is literally a two or three minute walk away where there is an array or restaurants and a very pretty marina. The nearest beach is about a 10 minutewalk away. All in all I would completely recommend this place especially to families.
