We visited the Le Royal Hammamet hotel for one week during August 2008. The staff and hotel were excellent. In fact we had a problem during the week which was not directly connected to the hotel and they helped us to solve it.
Food: a great variety, but a little boring after five or six days. It may be better to have fewer options and slightly better quality
Swimming Pool: there are two, and they are pristine clean and well maintained
Beach: the beach adjoins the hotel and is just a 30 metre walk from the hotel. The beach is beautiful and comes with beach lounge chairs and towels, all included in the price. The beach was our biggest gripe, The Lounge chairs are all neatly laid out in rows, each with its own parasol. The hotel has a man in charge of arranging the chairs and cleaning the area. This man puts various objects on the first 3 lines of chairs every morning, and sells the chairs to people who are willing to pay. If you don’t pay you don’t stay, you are relegated to the back rows where there is little wind and a poor view. On a few occasions we had to leave the beach area because there were no chairs although there were many vacancies on the first three rows. He also sells places to people from outside the hotel. We reckoned that he earns about 2000€ per month selling places.
Another gripe(s), There are many young people using quads, jet skies, camels, horses, parachute skiing, windsurfing, and catamarans in the area. A pity because it’s a beautiful place with lots of beach, apart from the complaints it’s one of the best hotels in the area

Fantastic apartments, maids very friendly cleaned every day to high standard.
Only thing I would recommend is that you bring a kettle as apartments don’t supply them. You have the use of facilities at the sister hotel Le Hammamet so have the choice of two swimming pools. Panorama reps very helpful. Short walk to beautiful sandy beach that never got crowded. Plenty to do in resort for three very rambunctious children. I would thoroughly recommend Tunisia to both families and singles.
Beautiful food, fantastic weather and the Tunisian people are very friendly. You must try bartering at the Old Medina it is certainly an experience not to be missed.

Best described as apartments rather than hotel rooms The Royale Residence is a great place to chill out & get away from the stresses of modern living. The one bedroom apartment we had was kept spotlessly clean by the daily maid. The loung area was spacious with a balcony as did the bedroom. The kitchenette was little more than a couple of electric rings & a fridge hardly sufficient for cordon blue cooking. However we were on half board which meant we ate at the adjoining sister hotel Le Hammamet. Anyone expecting a full English breakfast would be very disappointed the only cooked item being scrambled or fried eggs alternating daily. Those wanting a continental style breakfast however are well catered for. Evening meals were much better with a good variety of meat & at least one fish dish daily & a variety of vegetables cooked in different styles. There was also a cafeteria at the Royale which had a very good menu from mid-day to late evening catering for light meals. The evening entertainment was a amateurish consisting mainly of a group of dancers & a musical duo. The sandy beach is a short walk through the hotel grounds & a tree lined passage. An area is reserved for hotel guests & is serviced by a snack bar, a small charge is levied for a sunbed & parasol. The surrounding shops mainly require you to bargain apart from a few near the hotel where you can buy water or souvenirs. Incidently the hotel bans guests from bringing water into the hotel, expecting you to buy their own overpriced product, but nobody takes any notice of the ban. The new area of Yasmine Hammamet is a cheap taxi ride away & is well worth a visit. The old town of Hammamet also a short taxi ride away & if you are interested in the Tunisian way of life is worth a visit, but the constant harassment of vendors can become tiresome. I would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a restful break. Anyone expecting a lively night life would be well advised to go elsewhere.
