We arrived at this "hotel" early hours on 6th April...believe me If i could have got a flight straight home I would have!! The original room we were given was akin to a prison cell!! The next room we were given was above the bar where it was noisy!!! We've been to Goa... more

Arrived 14th October for 2 weeks. Travelled independently and went to Hampi for 4 days-you must go. The 'real' India. Did Spice plantation, Elephant ride, Anjuna and mapusa markets all independent of travel rep and saved around half the cost. Breakfast at the hotel is... more

Lui beach was absolute value for money, we stayed there for 3 weeks, and the staff and service were first class. The brochure said it was a "small & friendly" hotel and it definitely was. The rooms have everything you need, a big wardrobe and two single beds pushed... more

We stayed at the Lui Beach Resort for two weeks in February this year, and having read some of the other reviews about the hotel I felt I had to add my comments. When travelling in India you can either go 5* all the way and be molly coddled or you can pick a reasonable... more

The stay was pleasant and good. Though the name states that it is a beach resort it is like 250-300 meters away from the beach (Sinquerim beach). Water sports are good in this beach, cheaper and better than the Calangute beach. As the time which we went was the end of the... more

The Lui Beach Resort is situated in a beautiful part of Candolim, close enough to all the amenities and 2 min away from the beach. Unfortunately the hotel itself leaves a lot to be desired, the air conditioning in our room made us ill as it didn't work properly. The pool... more

A Great Base!
The Lui Beach is a great place to use as a base for your holiday. The hotel is clean, with towels and linen changed each day. The pool area is small but is cleaned every day and they also have 2 BBQ nights a week with entertainment. The rooms are basic (think Greek studio) but as it is advertised as a 2* hotel most guests know what to expect. Peter (the manager) is friendly and his staff are a great bunch of lads who work really hard to make your stay pleasurable. The only negative thing I'd say about the hotel is that the beach nearby is quite pebbly so we used to walk about 10-15 mins further up where there were fewer pebbles. Even though it is in the quiter area of Candolim, there are loads of nice restaurants nearby and the centre of the resort is only a 15 min walk away. When we were there fridges cost 500r per week, a safety deposit box was 300r per week and I think air con was 300r per night. Not all rooms have air con but all do have a ceiling fan.
very basic!!!
We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Candolim,Goa. We travelled with Thomas cook and i have to say, im very disappointed with them! The Lui Beach Hotel was not what you'd expect for the money we paid! Our room was dirty, the sheets were stained, the bathroom door was hanging off. We were charged £4.00 per night for the air conditioning and we were told we could only use it at night or the moter would burn out! We were charged 500 rupees per week for a fridge that leaked and we were not allowed to put anything in there that wasnt bought from the hotel. The room itself had frosted glass and felt like a prison cell! The swimming pool was tiny (but clean) and i found it rather off putting to have rats running around at breakfast!! I know of 2 other couples that also booked out of this hotel in the same week! We only stayed one night before booking into a different hotel at a cost of £700!! Peter the manager was a nice enough person and seemed helpful when we 1st arrived, his attitude changed very quickly when we approached him about the above and he was really off with us when we told him we werent happy so we'd be leaving! I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone wanting more than a 'backpacker' type of hotel.
Lui Beach
This was our first trip to India, after Candolim was highly recommended by a friend. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the Lui Beach. The hotel was basic as you would expect in India, but was kept extremely clean. From the moment we arrived, Peter, the manager and the rest of the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had the misfortune to arrive from the airport with an extremely rude family (the kind who make you embarrassed to be British!!) and the staff couldn’t have been politer! The rooms were kept clean and towels were changed everyday. The only complaint would be the beds and in particular the pillows were pretty uncomfortable but I believe this is the norm in Indian hotels and after a few nights you soon get used to it. Breakfast was basic, juice, toast, tea/coffee, but there was a full breakfast menu at a small cost if you wanted something a bit more substantial. We tended to eat breakfast (and lunch!) at one of the many beach shacks which were extremely cheap! We didn’t have any evening meals in the hotel as there are so many great restaurants in Candolim, but their menu seemed reasonably priced with lots on offer including fresh fish. The hotel is only a five minute walk from the beach, and about a 30 minute walk to the main beach road or if you're lazy like us there are plenty of taxi’s outside the hotel!! Taxi's were approx 100 rupees each way, or you could get a tuk tuk, which are great fun! Overall had a great time and would recommend Lui Beach and Candolim to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday!!

Easy Life
The Lui Beach Resort is located up a peaceful little lane away from the tooting and honking of the oft-times busy road that connects Candolim with Calangute, Anjuna and Baga. Stroll two minutes further along the lane and it narrows into a sandy path that leads to the beach and the soothing waters of the Arabian Sea. There you can choose your beach shack where you will enjoy cooling drinks, precious shade and delicious local food at rock bottom prices. We visited the friendly "Blue Waves" shack each afternoon we were there. Lovely. Getting back to the hotel, what should one expect in India? We wanted peace and simplicity, genteel service and not too many guests. We got this and more. It was authentic and locally owned. Our balconied room overlooked the spotless little pool and the tropical garden where you took breakfast or stayed up till midnight quaffing Kingfisher beer while chatting with other guests - none of them lager louts! Breakfast was a simple affair - fruit juice, freshly made tea and toast but you could have extras at little additional cost - such as bacon and egg, omelettes or even quirkily - hot porridge! All the staff - mostly young men - were extremely courteous and helpful. Our room somehow felt as a hotel room should in India - not some corporate Holiday Inn room with air conditioning and His and Hers bathrobes but a simple clean room with a big fan whirring quietly above you, a termite proof wardrobe and a wet room for showering - but watch the tiles - they could get dangerously slippery! Our room cleaner was able to "sculpt" an array of creatures from our towels - including two swans and bizarrely a giraffe which lay sprawled across the rather firm twin beds. Nearby were some excellent restaurants but to reach them you walk by the Wacky Races roadway without pavements and you run the gauntlet of a dozen Kashmiri traders wanting to sell you jewellery, carvings, pashminas or make you suits, dresses or shirts. They were expert at winning customers - they never forgot a face once they had made contact and were always exceedingly polite. A mouth watering Goan meal for two at the nearby and imaginatively named "Curry House" - including drinks and desserts would set you back about ten pounds or 800 rupees. This being our first time in India - The Lui Beach Resort was just perfect and that is after taking into consideration the cockerel that strutted his stuff at dawn each morning, the mango fruit that missed my head by inches when it fell and the occasional religious chanting that emerged from the little chapel across the lane. Although we visited the hotel as part of a "package", independent travellers could book a double room with breakfast for $20 a night in March or October, rising to $40 at peak season in December and January.
You get what you pay for
This hotel is in a good, relatively quiet location. Our room was quite large, had plenty of lighting and had a very good shower (unusual in Goa). All staff members were friendly and very helpful. If you can put up with chipped and cracked crockery and grey, stained sheets with holes, then this is a pretty good choice of hotel. Good value for money and would consider staying there again.
Great place
Lui Beach is friendly and well run. Joe and Peter look after you well. You have to accept that this is a 2 star hotel and not more. The rooms were cleaned every day and the bedding and towels changed. It is in a quiet area with easy access to beach and Candolim main road. The food is good as well. You will have to pay extra to rent a fridge and a locker, but only a nominal amount. Downside is the beds, they are bamboo base with a very thin mattress. You do get used to them, but uncomfy to start with. The showers are better than some 5 star hotels I've stayed in. Accept it's a 2 star and you'll love it. Don't take books, the hotel has hundreds. The only thing that spoiled it was the two couples who insisted on spending the fortnight sat at the bar drinking from 11am each morning, I'm no killjoy, nor am I a prude and each to their own, however listening to their foul mouths all day long was to much, and we like other residents chose to spend our time elsewhere. That was'nt the hotel's fault though, you get idiots wherever you go and we were just unlucky.
Basic but a good base.
A basic small hotel which is situated in a quiet area. We stayed for 2 weeks and upon arrival were given a room by the manager next to the main road which was too noisy. We then asked to change and were given a very dirty but large sized room which we stayed the first night in. The next morning the shower blew up and sent boiling water everywhere! Luckily we were not burnt and when we complained we were given a much nicer room. The staff were very nice except Peter the manager who fobbed us off and we did not like him due to the lack of service he gave us! Be careful...! However we had a great holiday!
loved it
been to this hotel a few times cannot fault it .very friendly staff and accommidation is basic but clean food is as good as any 5xxx going to this hotel again in november for a month .
lovely family run guest house
lui beach is a basic guesthouse of the no frills varity if you want five star go elsewere but i found the hotel itself spotless and the staff were exelent rooms were basic with a celing fan not air con candolim as a resort was great you get a taste of india it has got a almost european feel with its portugise influences but remains verry indian with cows wandering around streets it is a verry safe resort and it is only a short verry cheap taxi ride away from the more lively resorts of baga and canlingute overall i would not hesitate in returning back to lui beach
