Melia Tamarindos Hotel Reviews
" Firstly we didn't book this hotel, it... "
Submitted By: Ms K Redpath
Firstly we didn't book this hotel, it was arranged for my partner Darren for 3 weeks, through our travel insurers, while I was in the Clinica Roca Hospital 5 mins away, I stayed at the hotel for around 6 days in between hospital stays.
The hotel is absolutely amazing, as are the staff.
The grounds are very well kept, gardeners out early morning, the pool area is amazing, plenty of sunbeds.
Restaurant was very good, lots and lots of choice, from cereals, croissant's, fruit, wide range of meats, cheese, through to fried breakfasts and omelette's made to your liking, while you wait and a lot more, yum yum.
The rooms are very comfortable, you even get to choose the pillows that most suit you, maids are in daily, to change bedding/towels and to clean, ours was very helpful and happy.
There is a casino in the hotel but we didn't get to go.
I must compliment the reception staff as the best i have ever came across, they were constantly asking my boyfriend how I was doing in hospital, the reception staff even had flowers delivered to me in hospital, and a fruit basket put in our room in the hotel, they were the most thoughtful reception staff ever and nothing is a problem for them, they are all amazing.
Talking to others staying at this hotel it seems once you have stayed here you will never go anywhere else, you wouldn't want to, customers go back year after year, sometimes 3 times a year, that's how good this hotel and its staff are.
So take my advice and book this hotel if you want a quiet, relaxing and amazing holiday with amazing staff to cater for your every need.

When we first arrived at the airport we were immediately asked if we wanted a taxi. We said yes thinking that this was good service but beware! We were led past the legitimate white taxis with green lights to a dark corner where an unmarked car was parked. I felt a bit uneasy but as I was with my boyfriend felt confident we would be safe. When we got onto the sunny motorway we then noticed the huge crack running across the windscreen. So although we saved 5 euros on taxi fares, it meant travelling in an unsafe car.
When we arrived at the hotel our initial impressions were good. The hotel lobby seemed very plush and the reception staff were very friendly. However it was when we got to our room the problems started. I am very fussy about cleanliness, specifically hair so I was horrified to find long dark hair scattered about the bathroom. I cleaned up the mess and put it out of my mind however there was more to come.
Our main problems with the accommodation are as followed:
Room was unclean when we arrived. The decor was drab and dated, not in-keeping with what a 5 star should look like. The cushioned chairs on the balcony were so filthy that we had to put beach towels over them before we felt able to sit on them.
The sheets were not changed every day and the towels were only changed if you left them on the floor. We have stayed in 5 stars before, the best one being the Mediterranean Palace in Tenerife, and in no way was the Melia Tamarindos in keeping with the high standards it should have been. Having said that gardens and pool were nice.
We also encountered other problems within the resort.
San Agustin is a very quiet place to stay. My boyfriend and I like to go out for nice meals and a quiet drink, not clubbing, but it was too quiet even for us. There is not a lot of choice meaning that sometimes we felt very disappointed with our meals. However I can recommend the Greek Taverna in the shopping centre and the Chinese at the end of the shopping centre.
