A group of about 12 stayed at the Riverside last year.
MOst of us are regular Goa travellers, but had never really heard of this place, apart from passing it to go over the iron bridge.
The hotel was clean, tidy, the staff were very nice and the restaurant was run by a man from North India, cant think of the State, so the restaurant has a Chinese theme. The food was excellent.
The rooms arent big, and some of us had 3 in a room - the down side was the 3rd bed was just a camp bed, but for the price, so what!
The pool is nice and in a sunny position. You can walk to Baga Beach in just a few mins (but why you would want to go to Baga beach I dont know!.
As with most places in India, take a torch for the short cut back to the hotel from the Baga side.
- Advice: Awful! The water smells and tastes of fuel from the boats and jet skis etc
- Activities: Shining Star Beach Shack is great, shame its in Baga mind
- Good For: Beach

My Hubby and I visited actually in 2000. we love this quiet little guest-house and the setting, and if we go back to Goa it will be to stay here.
It was basic, clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The owners were available on site at all times with good advice on where to go and eat.
The settings was very quiet and tranquil and it was lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. I still remember the smell of the lovely bright pink flowers just across the road and on the entrance to the guest-house.
This is an ideal place to unwind.

My husband and I and 2 friends stayed at the Riverside guesthouse for Xmas and New Year.
We were hoping for a relaxing quiet holiday but was disappointed, as they decided to demolish the bridge which was situated right outside the guesthouse.
This was very noisy, dirty and it went on from 7.30 until 22.30 every day. We did not relax all holiday and we didn’t spend any time by the pool at all.
We were not informed before we went so if anyone is travelling, check it out before you leave as it is very noisy.
But must say what all the staff at the guesthouse were very helpful and pleasant they tried really hard to make us comfortable and I must thank them all.
The guesthouse was clean but basic. If getting taxi ask for John, nice guy, he will look after you. Food was cheap and also drink cheap.
All the best to the Riverside Guesthouse, hope it’s not still too noisy for you.

This hotel is more like a guesthouse, no TV or radio in the room, so very basic but room was large and kept fairly clean with big balcony overlooking the river and we spent very little time during the day in the room so it suited us fine. It has a nice swimming pool that was hardly used by clients so it was sometime nice to relax away from the hustle & bustle of baga or calungute beach. The hotel is probably in one of the nicest places along the river and it was fun to watch a king fisher swoop down and catch a fish while eating our breakfast. The hotel is next to the river bridge and in a 15 min. Walk to the saturdaynight baazar to see all the old hippies from the 60's.
The beach is about 400yards away over a dirt track although this is used by cars and bikes alike. We felt safe at night to walk this track with a torch (highly recommended) although you can use a tuk tuk or taxi to get back to the hotel. At the end of the track is also the bus terminus and it is only 4rupee (5pence) to go to callengute taxi is 80to 100 or tuk tuk 50-70 rupee depending on your negotiating skill. Eating places try any and you find that most are good to very good with the odd one only average.

9 of us stayed in 3 rooms of this hotel on recommandation of someone.
we paid full in advance , and at night when asked for the matress for 3 rd person hotel guy asked us to pay 100 rs extra he said the hotel thought we will be accomodating 3 person on double BED.
there is no TV,no intercom,no room service. when we asked for drinking water, hotel guys said all the guest bring water along with them and you dont intent then you can get it from TAP which is in toilet.we were shocked and stunned to here this .
we were suppose to get a complementory breakfast but again they gave this facility to only 2 members in each room. free breakfast includes 2 bread slices and butter JAM.TEA was cold.
rooms had lizards, and 2 frogs in bath room can you beleive this ,No!!! but its true.
they did not clean the rooms for 2 days,no new towels were given, when asked for soap the reception guy said we give only 1 soap. trust me he wanted 3 of us to use that 3-4 rupee soap for 3 days.
this is the worst hotel me or my freinds ever visited in our entire life.
