My partner 4 friends and I stayed at The Cavala for 2 weeks in late November early December. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay so much so that we have all booked to return for three weeks this year.
The hotel is built of traditional Goan brick and is very charming with beautiful gardens and pool area. The rooms are simply furnished but very clean and the staff are very friendly and courteous.
The food is also excellent and the breakfast is wonderful. The bar has genuine character and is well frequented by other people in the area who enjoy the very good live music and jazz nights.
On the whole TOP MARKS We cannot fault the place at all!

Stayed at Cavala many times. Rooms very basic and would recommend getting some bleach and toilet cleaner from little shop on arrival and clean the room before you unpack. The staff are brilliant which has alway's made me want to return.
This is a very noisy hotel, horns beeping till early hours and the bus horns very early in the mornings outside the hotel. The dogs are now a real problem and run aound at night in packs and bark nearly all night every night, so do not expect much sleep here. The food is good at the hotel and the kitchen has just had a re-fit and they ar making improvements to the pool bar and restuarant areas, I hope they extend these to the guest rooms. Even though I bleached and used disinfectant every day the cockroach family just would not stop visting my room, so I recommend a spray called HIT, spray and leave the room for at leaset two hours before returning. Unfortunatly, I will not be retuning soon to Baga.
The police chucked us all off the sunbeds outside the shacks more than once, the hygeine has never been great but you do not expect it, instead of upping thier game they have got complacent and it is dirtier than I have seen it in the last 5yrs.
Most of us at the Cavala suffered sickness on more than one occasion, which was a first for me. I would not put that down to the hotel, as speaking to people from other hotels who have been going for years, also suffered very bad stomachs.
There did seem to be alot of people with the same opinion that north Goa has had its day for the British holiday maker, which is sad, as me, my family and friends have had great memorable times there. I would not advise not to visit as it is worth the once, but you can get much better holidays for your pound.
