STAVROLIA IS NOW RUSSIAN
8 / 10
Jan 2012, was123

I've stayed at Stavrolia for last 3 years and when I was there last October some of the rooms were occupied by Russians.Apartments have just undergone major refurbishment work and talking to Christos, he said owners wanted to go for the Russian market.Stavrolia does not appear to be available from anywhere in UK.It has even disappeared from the travel agents Travel Gazzeteer (the warts and all description of hotel accommodation). Hope this is helpful...

We where allocated apartment 67 next door to the reps,it was dark and smelly, the bathroom was full of flies which returned after we cleared them out.We did not unpack and asked Stavros for a change of apartment at whatever cost He said that they were full (where are all the people?)We saw the rep she had a word and Stavros came back and moved us upstairs to 71, newly painted, bright apartment with toaster!Heaven.Stavros made out it was all his idea saying he had guests who could not manage the stairs. Pool area & loungers all brand new with night lighting all excellent. Some apartments fully refurbished had new kitchens, ceramic hobs, microwaves, hairdryers & LCD tvs new Bathrooms with Shower cubicles or baths. We all paid the same low prices?

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Stavrolia Apts Ayia Napa, Run by two brothers very friendly lovely spacious rooms could do with a bit of a makeover, basic but clean. Quiet while we were there but could be noisey during peak season. 15 mins walk from a few bars and shops 45 mins from Ayia Napa centre. Would certainly go again .

My boyfriend and i stayed here on a lsat minute cheapy... so for the price we paid we were really not expecting much.
When we arrived we were impressed by the warm welcome from both brothers who own the hotel. (the older one slightly less friendly than the younger and soon we realised he doesnt like to smile much)
The pool is small but very clean.. the only thing we missed was the pool games and day time activities that we had been promised!
Food and drinks average price. but very nice and the service always welcoming.
Rooms were unbarable with the heat... so you will definately need to purchase air con. and make sure you highlight the fact that your paying for it right up until the last day your staying - apparantly we didnt.
the rooms were very clean, and sheets and towels changed every other day... although be careful while out on ur balcony - we locked outselves out on it by mistake by sliding the doors closed in the attempt to keep any bugs out.
Location was ideal - ayia napa (10-15min walk)
Restaurants and quiet bars that have live entertainment most nights (5 min stroll)
Nissi Beach (5 min stroll cross country) 10 minutes or more if you decide to walk the main road. the beach is definately worth a visit, gorgeous! and plenty of water sports and even bungee jumping was available!
i would definately recommend this accom to a friend

Arrived at the Stavrolia from the tour bus, and greeted in reception by one of the twin brothers who runs it (Stavros i think it was) who was very friendly from the start.
I would just like to point out that having read these reviews, and all the people complaining about racism and dirtyness, not once did i witness any of this. in fact everyone I spoke to was very happy! The accomodation is basic, but is what you would expect. There were no apparent ant infestations. yes you will see insects occasionally, this is because you are in a hot country.
Stavros and Christos are two of the funniest most welcoming people i have met and i will definately be returning to it again. If anyone is planning on going, take a tip: instead of finding the main road by going down the dirt track across the road, simply turn left out of the complex and you will soon reach a traffic light
intersection with the main road. Much lighter and quicker!
(Don't book with Olympic, they dont really do anything extraordinary)

I have just returned from a holiday in Cyprus and stayed at the Stavrolia Hotel apartments with 2 friends.
Apartments are basic but clean and considering we only slept there were perfectly good! The pool was lovely, clean and not too cold!
The apartments are very close to Nissi Beach, and there are some shops close by to get the basics such as water!
There is a strip of restaurants and bars about 10 mins walk away and 30 mins walk from the busy bars and clubs in Ayia Napa (5 mins in a taxi costs €7). so its close but not too close!
Overall the complex wasnt too busy or quiet - the owners - Stavros and his brother are lovely and very friendly!
Would definately go back!

The weather was fab, Stravros was funny like your grandad in away grumpy, but funny and a nice man. Although its was basic it had everything you needed....seriously ignore the bad reviews this place gets its amazing. We are defo going back to the place we met a couple there who were equally sad to leave and are going back to. Cyprus was lovely and this apartment was not bad either!!!!!

I have recently returned from staying at the stavrolia and can say there isnt a chance in hell i would return. The accomadation was disgusting the room was infested with ants the walls were full of mould and the shower and taps were salt water. The pool was very unclean and again salt water when we complained the rep didnt care she replied that all that area of cyprus used salt water wich was a lie as my friend stayed across the road and had clean fresh water. The owners were both very rude to us and didnt want to her anything we had to say when asked for a slice of orange in a drink we were told to go and pick it ourselves. we were a group of young girls very well behaved and treated disgustingly one of the owners raised there hand and put it in a 20 year old girls face cos she asked for air con this hotel should be shut down! Nissi beach was however gorgeous and where we spent most of our time and the night life was good it was just the hotel and olympic that let us down.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Agia Napa. We have visited Cyprus for 6 years and it is the first time we have stayed at the Stavrolia and found the apartments to be basic but adequate. We have read reviews on these pages about the owners being racist. Our party included 5 adults and 4 teenagers including mixed race people. We found Stavros and Christos to be welcoming and entertaining and concerned for the welfare and safety of all guests, they both want their guests to have a great holiday and also to respect traditional values. As usual in Agia Napa we witnessed groups of individuals receiving final warnings for being disrespectful towards other guests (regardless of race black or white). We asked a number of people if they had witnessed any racist behaviour, all responded in a similar manner to ourselves. However we did witness the race card being played on a couple of occasions by guests. We would definately return to the Stavrolia. Cypriot people have moral standards and can sometimes come across as agressive in the way they speak this can sometimes be misunderstood, however having visited Cyprus for 6 years we found 95% of the Cypriot people to be their usual friendly and helpful selves.

Overall my stay was good, however we had problems with the air conditioning however we soon had it sorted. Hot shower water is limited so its best to have one earlier at night, and it is also freshwater as all the mains are and tastes disgusting. We had no cockroaches or lizards, just an infestation of ants, however we had spray and they soon went. The maids came 4 times in 7 days, and only changes the towels once and that was at the start of the week which we thought was a bit pointless.
