Monsenor Apartments Reviews
" We visited March 2007
The apartments themselves are quite basic - we were told we would have washing machine, microwave, iron and board, but none of these were available.
We didn’t even have a kettle or toaster! We did ask many times at reception, but the staff, to be honest, couldn’t have cared less!
The shops at the bottom of the hill are really really good. The Irish Brogue Bar is fantastic, Louise and Mic made us very welcome and the other restaurants there are 1st class - excellent food and great prices.
The large Spar there is very well stocked and again, very friendly staff. But be warned... the lifts don’t always work!
All in all - it’s a fab place and the apartments have a huge balcony and an amazing view!

" Hello, I’ve never done anything... "
Submitted By: Mr M HenmanThe Monsenor Apartments have no tour operators there anymore. They pulled out about two years ago so the bars and restaurants are no longer open and most of the apartments are private owned.
If you want a drink and something to eat there are a couple of bars and restaurants at the bottom of the hill, the bar we used was the Irish brogue and it served one of the best pints of carling I’ve ever found.
If its food you want try bistro 22 as its food is some of the best I’ve tasted, especially the steak. It was cooked to perfection every time and the people in both couldn’t do enough for you.

Monsenor is a large complex, with some apartments privately owned and some rented to tourists. All have nice balconies though and are decent size. There are two swimming pools, one by the reception and another one on the upper level but as we went in Feb water was freezing - should be ok in the summer though. No restaurants on site, only small shop but three minutes down the hill are some nice bistros (great tapas!) and large supermarket.
Our apartment was very clean, no insects whatsoever, towels and sheets changed when needed.
Amazing view from the balcony gets sun in the morning. Furniture has seen better days and coin operated TV had only two channels - but didn't mind as it was not what we came for to Gran Canaria!
Bottom line: good location and a great value for money. Perfect as a base for exploring Gran Canaria. Not for someone looking to spend time between bed, hotel restaurant and swimming pool.
