Wish I'd read the reviews before...
3 / 10
Jun 2007, Ms D Davies

Wish I'd read the reviews before going. The outside of the hotel looks ok, but the inside is a big disappointment, particularly when having travelled for 11 hours and expecting 3 star accommodation.
We were on the first floor end room next to the child's slide - this was the quiet side of the hotel apparently, but we were bombarded all night with music from our own hotel and next door's hotel.
The first floor corridor had a faded rumpled blue rug which was a trip hazard. The door next to ours had a punch hole through it. The patio doors were difficult to open and close; the patio furniture was cracked and broken. The sofa was dirty looking and had a large hole in it.
The hot tap in the kitchen was fitted too close to the wall to be able to actually turn it on. The very basic crockery provided (2 cups, 2 glasses, 2 plates) were all a mismatch.
The only other utensils provided were 2 knives, 2 forks, 1 blunt large knife, a cooking ring, a kettle, a chopping board and one pan, not even spoons or a bottle opener! The bedroom curtain fell off its rail every time you opened or closed it.
The towels were as old as the hotel, thin, frayed, and grey. The walls were definitely in need of a coat of paint with smears of dirt, blood, and grime on them. The shower doors didn't shut properly so there was a permanent pool of water in the shower.
The shower head was twisted and difficult to get it to stay up - it would occasionally fall off the wall onto your head whilst showering. The taps to the sink did not turn off so water ran all night and day and the toilet cistern filled with water all day too.
I would not recommend this hotel to any females without male company.
There are about 8 waiters/bar staff and the restaurant/bar is located on the poolside. In the day they will come and talk to you one after the other at intervals of 15 minutes - they drove us completely mad!
On the positive side the maid kept the room immaculately clean and even made swan shapes and heart shapes with the towels.
Turkey is very beautiful and I can thoroughly recommend "Talk of the Town" drag act - hilarious from start to finish. Part way through the week we looked at two other 3 star apartments one of which was also operated by gold trail.
What a difference these rooms were - not only clean but they were also far more in keeping with what one would expect of 3 star accommodation.
We made the best of our holiday but were not sorry to leave Club Happy Days behind and certainly won't be returning there.

Mar 2007, Mrs Ann Furlong

Went to club happy days, we thought it looked very nice it looked nice and clean we were pleased with the room but we went to make something to eat.
There were no pots and pans so we asked and they gave us a pan. I wouldn’t let my dog drink out of it was black, then into about the fourth day of are holiday we were sitting by the pool and one of the staff came over to ask if we would go to the Turkish night so we said yes. The next day my husbsnd said I think we will leave the Turkish night, there’s a match on.
So this man came up to my husband for the money and we said we had changed are mind so he got very angry and said shame on you my husband said we might come next week and he said don’t bother we were fuming.
We were sitting by the pool again and went to the shop inside for a bottle of coke, we were told to take it to our room we couldn’t drink it by the pool. They were unreal, we have been to turkey ten times and we love it but club happy days was the pits.

Dec 2006, Mrs P Lumsden

My daughter booked the holiday as a surprise for me and her dad to club happy days but I was dreading it as I had read several bad reviews.
When my daughter, husband and I opened our apartment door I was so relieved to see everything was clean and continued that way for the whole week we had a brilliant holiday thanks to all the hard work of the staff who were very friendly. The entertainment was good fun.
This was our first time in turkey what a lovely place with friendly people looking forward to returning.

Hi I have had the opportunity to...
5 / 10
Nov 2006, Miss D Thompson

Hi I have had the opportunity to experience Club Happy Days on 2 occasions, but both only for 1 day. The first time was in September where the room was on the 3rd floor and was nice and clean. The sink area was spotless with all equipment and the bathroom was large and clean also with hair drier and a shower. (Well a section of the bathroom was designated to being the shower with a sloping floor but no enclosure). The double bedroom was small but very cozy with a telephone. I was quite impressed.
But the second time was in October when we (myself and 2 children) had been kicked out of our hotel room at midday on our last day with nowhere to go until 11:30pm that evening when our transfer came to pick us up. So we went over to Club Happy Days and got a room on the 2nd floor for a £10. (Room 207) Walking into the room it looked large, but then wanting a drink I walked over to the kitchenette and was surprisingly disgusted. The sink area was filthy, with only a hob which was rusting. The fridge was also filthy. There were no other kitchen equipment. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, no towels, no hairdryer, the bathroom sink was also filthy. The bedroom looked ok but the telephone was so dusty, I couldn't even bear to touch it. This room looked as if it had not been lived in or cleaned for about 6 months.
I did not get to see the hotel's other facilities, but this place will definitely not be seeing me again.
It is a 10 - 15 minute walk straight down the road to Marmaris High Street and the beach. There are a few restaurants and bars a couple of minutes at the top of the road.
I only give it a 5 rating because of my first visit, but the standard should be kept overall not just for specific rooms.

Having been to Marmaris before and...
6 / 10
Oct 2006, Mr T Price

Having been to Marmaris before and last time had a small brill hotel called Swans 1, I was looking forward to being in Marmaris again and the resort itself did not disappoint. We had a really excellent time. Many thanks to the Royal Oak and its staff, Ender, Mustafa, Mehmet and Ritchie (really great and friendly staff).
Places to go and excursions recommended are The Royal Oak Fun Pub, Uncle Sam’s for great food, Lazy Days boat trip, Turkish Night.
Be careful where you book your excursions, we booked two with Azun Travel and were picked up for the Turkish Night in a big jeep and had an excellent time but where supposed to be picked up for return to hotel at midnight and no-one showed up and had to walk and this was not easy as we where well oiled and the hotel was far away.
Now to Club Happy Days, when we arrived (early morning) the hotel looked good from outside. To say this was a 3 star hotel is just not true more like a 1 star. The only good thing about our room was the large king size bed. As with other reviews, no pots, pans, kettle and only a few bits of cutlery and cups. Other problems with the room were a rock hard settee, toilet that was always filling all day and night, toilet roll holder that dropped of wall, lights that did not work, lack of hot water (we only had 1 day of it), maid service came twice to empty rubbish but left toilet bin full, bed linen changed only once and the room only cleaned (if you can call it that) once.
If you go to Club Happy Days, don't expect much of a room then you won't be disappointed. Some people may think I am nit picking but considering the excellent Swans 1 hotel I stayed at before, the room (605) in Club Happy Days was poor. An urgent overhaul of the rooms is required and should have been done some time ago.

Me and my friend decided to stay at...
9 / 10
Oct 2006, Miss Z Brusell

Me and my friend decided to stay at Club Happy Days in Marmaris this year. We were both 18 and had been to Turkey the year before.
When we arrived at the apartments, we were showed our room and to our surprise it was very good. I had read some reviews before I went and was a little nervous about what I might find. But they were clean, spacious and had a good view of the pool and bar. We were in the side block with the pool slide.
The bathroom could have been better and the tap would not stop dripping. We discovered later that we had been given no pans to cook and one day we had no towels at all. So we asked for some and we started hoarding them so we had at least 4 towels everyday.
After we had unpacked everything we decided to get to no the staff and so we went to the pool bar. That is where we got to no most of the staff and where we spent a lot of our nights. I got to know Hassan quite well and developed a little crush and my friend liked the barman Mathew. And we started a little holiday romance with them.
Jake the DJ is also a barrel of laughs. As is Alex, Tiger, Baran, Curly and the rest (whose names I cant remember).
I do recommend the Bar crawls with the reps as they are wild. We went on the first night and you get picked up from the New York restaurant and dropped off on bar street and you go to 5 different clubs like Crazy Daisy, Greenhouse and B52, you get a free drink in each one, you play lots of fun games like limbo and dressing the men up in the women’s clothes. It really is a great night out.
We also went to the Turkish night at the pool which was the best night of the holiday. Especially went Hassan, Harkan and this other tall man do their dance to 'this aint nothing but a summer jam'. I nearly fainted.
There are some good restaurants around the hotel, we liked Red Rose and Shara's. I don’t recommend Sonny's as they were very rude and flirty which me and my friend did not appreciate. Overall this holiday was very good and I would definitely go back to Club Happy Days, to see Hassan.

Marmaris is a beautiful area of...

Oct 2006, Mr Toon

Marmaris is a beautiful area of Turkey. I have traveled to previously over 10 years ago to Altinkum. If I thought the rooms were basic then they have got worse.
I know we did get a relatively cheap holiday and was expecting basic as detailed in previous comments but this place in an out and out dump.
All the manager was interested in doing was selling us a locker for the week. After 12 hours traveling the first night all we wanted to do was get some rest, not possible on the 1st floor. The apartment was basic but tolerable, but the noise is something else. It took me the week to realise, but what you are exposed to is a 3 way competition of discos, the bar, the pool and next door blocks pool. It is incredible.
We asked to move rooms and as it turns out was very lucky to get moved to the top floor, the next day.
It turned out other people had to wait over a week to move, this room at first seemed better, but that wasn’t to last. We had to take the kettle from the old room to the new, had to keep asking for room cleaning and towel change. The beds never got changed until we went and got our own sheets.
The maids call but only take rubbish. The toilet broke and wouldn’t fill so only limited use, 5 flights of stairs to use toilet. Luckily it didn’t completely ruin the holiday but it could well have done.
Unless you can cope with very, very basic, nonchalant staff and non existent reps, then don’t use this apartment block.
I don’t blame the reps, as I never really find them any use so tend to avoid, but I would be very interested to read what Goldtrail expect from its apartment complexes when it recommends them.

Never ever been to such a dirty hotel...

Oct 2006, Not Specified

Never ever been to such a dirty hotel as this one holes in the wall. Bathroom disgusting. We had no kettle pots pans we had were filthy in the kitchen the sink was held up with two pieces of wood plugs hanging off the wall we had only one cup.
Reception smelly and dirty. Rep complete waste of time. The best part of the hotel was the door on the way out we stayed thirty mins top moved to another hotel at our own expense.
I thought the flight was bad enough with all the delays until we got to the hotel that was the last straw never again to club happy days.

Went to Marmaris with my girlfriend...
10 / 10
Oct 2006, Mr J Squibb

Went to Marmaris with my girlfriend who is 18 and myself 22, really enjoyed. It was our first time visiting Marmaris and we both didn’t know what to expect but when we left we couldn't wait until we went back. Marmaris has every thing you could possibly want and more. Sadly a week isn't enough. Club Happy days is a lovely, friendly clean hotel and haven't got a bad word to say about it. Yes you had to buy your own toilet roll but so what. Smokers beware don't buy fags in the hotel they have a horrible taste and make you feel sick. Genuine fags have a blue sticker on the back and when you put a flame to it, it will turn white. We recommend Pallets just around the corner along with Uncle Sam's for a lovely meal and very cheap. We booked all our day trips with the guys who are right next to Uncle Sam's because we got told not to go to OJ near Amsterdam. Keep an eye out for happy hours lots of buy one get one free well worth the money ha. All and all brilliant trip and can't wait till we go back but next time for 2 weeks so we can make the most of this wonderful place.

Overall a very good holiday. Hotel...

Oct 2006, Mr K Wallace

Overall a very good holiday. Hotel was basic but clean and just what was required. Seemed like the side of the hotel with the kids slide was better than then other one talking to other holiday makers.
The staff were generally nice, but needed to be put into their place now and again when being rude or annoying. They will always try to act up in front of females, but I found if you show them who is the boss they learn to behave.
I wouldn’t recommend and trips or excursions from Goldtrail, as we were on a first time couples holiday we took 3 trips and were disappointed by them all. Turkey was very cheap and offered some great bargains. There is a Turkish delight factor on the main street, it is more expensive, but is real Turkish delight and tastes great. Most shop owners are very pushy, but a firm no will stop them. Always haggle a price as they will soon drop the price, offer something ridiculously low and let them lower to something you find acceptable.

Haci`s near the hotel is a great place to eat, no hassle and the staff are very nice. There are lots of nice restaurants near the boats on the docks. They generally open a little later at night but are well worth the wait.
Beware when at airport do not buy anything when you arrive as they charge a fortune, 5 quid a bottle of water, you will be able to buy on the buss. Same goes for when the bus stops for its comfort stop this shop is also hugely overpriced. Do not leave shopping for duty free as everything is in euros and is very expensive as is the food 10 quid for a big mac meal!

Oct 2006, Miss C Warrington

I have been going to this apartment for the last couple of years and during my stays I’ve had the best time in my life. All the workers are great to get on with.
I go with my family and friends and we have such a laugh when we are there. Well I was staying there for 2weeks I helped out behind the bar with the bar staff they was top that’s curly and Matthew. Then we had the party starter Jake the Snake.
Well I’ll be going back next year its the best place I’ve been not just for a laugh the apartments are very clean the cleaners are working all day long and food is great i recommend families and people just looking for a laugh to go because its a definitely 10-10 thanks to happy days.

When we arrived at club happy days...

Oct 2006, Miss Lm Cox

When we arrived at club happy days the sink in our apartment was falling off the wall there was a hole in the sofa bed the toilet was making a funny noise and when we reported it we were told by the staff they couldn’t do anything about it.
Then when we were due to go home on Monday morning at 3am in the morning the hotel told us that they wanted us out on the Sunday at 12 o’clock in the afternoon we had to pay £15 pound to keep our bags in our room and so our little boy had somewhere to sleep while we waited for our coach.
We will not be using Goldtrail again or returning to club happy days we were very disappointed with our holiday.
