Fomithea Studios Apartments

Totally agree with the comments below. We was aprehensive after reading other reviews on other websites about talk of small dark dungeon type rooms but for the price we paid (£265 for a week), we was more than happy. We had a large ground floor room which on tiptoes you could see the sea and the morning sunrise. But here comes the word of warning for anyone who's staying at Fomithea, DO NOT use the adjoining pool next door at the Selina Hotel. We used their pool and met some great people. We didn't realise we wasn't allowed to use the pool as the hotels are very closely linked by a footpath. On the 5th day the rude and leering owner (ogled the girls all day long), then make a spectactle and embarassed us greatly by shouting in greek and telling anyone who would listen we was from the hotel next door and that we shouldn't be in his pool (same star hotel!). He spoilt a good week and wasn't a great advertisement for the greeks!..But apart from that, Fomithea is a gem of a bargain and Maria the owner is a good advertisement for the greeks!

Our holiday booked via Direct Line Holidays (tour operator Kosmar) could not have run more smoothly. Thankfully no delays going out meant that we could settle into our apartment on the Tuesday afternoon and be on the beach to soak up a few late afternoon rays after a leisurely lunch.
Fomithea apartments were very reasonably priced and more than adequate. The complex is run by a lovely woman named Maria, to whom all the guests seemed to warm - so much so that some of them never actually left the complex as it has a gerat pool, music and snack bar etc. Rooms are cleaned on a daily basis and one linen change half-way through the week. My bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on in a holiday resort! Fomithea is also close to the beach and bus stop if you wish to venture even further afield. Oia is an absolute MUST to visit.
On our last day, as we had the whole day to entertain ourselves after checking out of the room at 10am, we were able to rent another room so that we could shower, leave bags in etc but this was not strictly necessary as you could leave luggage in the breakfast room and there is a shower there too for guest use.
Santorini also had some of the best food I have ever experienced anywhere in Greece. Kamari has arguably the friendliest and funkiest bar too, called Albatross. Very friendly people everywhere you go. We shall definitely be going back again!
