We have been visiting Lesvos for the past 8 years but this was the first time we have stopped at the Marianthi what great appartments. T
he views are stunning and the peace and quiet were great. A two minute walk takes you to the Aphrodite Appts where Stratos and Maria (and family) cannot do enough for you. They made our holiday so special (as they always do). Thanks to everyone in Anaxos, We cannot wait to come back.
We hired a car from Costas and travelled round the Island and had some fantastic days out. I recommend the beach and tavernas at Malinda, its on the south of the island through Plomeri - About 1 and a half hours drive. I have left some laminated maps with Stratos at the Aphrodite so feel free to borrow them, but please return them, I will need them next year.
In Anaxos you must try Steves bar on the 2nd road down to the beach - I think he is still living in the 60,s. We enjoyed eating and drinking in all the Tavernas, I did not find a bad one. The meals at Costas on the main road were great, the portions were not too big and Alison (an ex Manos rep) is fantastic - A real wealth of knowledge and a great help.
All in all if you are after a relaxing break on a quiet but very diverse island you will not, in my opinion, find a better greek island.

We have just returned from 7 nights at the Marianthe and have had a fantastic time. The studio is basic Greek which was fine for us but what makes the Marianthe special are the views and the quiet atmosphere. wonderful sunrise over the mountains behind the property and sunset over the sea to the front, simply stunning!
If you fancy a dip in the pool nip across to the Aphrodite studios(2 minute walk) where you will be made very welcome by the owner Stratos and his family, pool and bar open from 9am. Wednesday is BBQ night at the Aphrodite and the food and wine was superb, lot's of music and some great Greek dancing from Stratos himself, best entertainment in Anaxos! The guests in the Aphrodite were Dutch and they were brilliant, very sociable folk top marks to them.
Anaxos town and beach was great (10 minute stroll) our favourite place to eat (and the kids) was Tony's Bar attached to the Anaxos Hotel, great menu and service.
A big hello to Margaret and Paul, thanks for all the laughter and a special thank you to Stratos and family for your hospitality.
We'll be back.

Very basic facilities in the apartments. Small shower/ toilet room plus a bedroom. Extremely small cooking stove, but no surface space to prepare food, and no table and chairs!
Remember that in such remoter parts of Greece you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilet. It must be stored in a bin adjacent to the toilet which is emptied daily.
Nice swimming pool. Because of the overall capacity of the apartments, the pool area was very civilized. You won't get families with young children here.
The apartments are based a good 1/2 hour walk to Molivos itself and about 45mins to the harbour restaurants. Many people got taxis. I preferred to walk the distance, though this could only be done safely after about 6.30pm when the sun was less intense. During the day we sat under a shade around the pool. Given the heat it is impossible to do much else. Wouldn't recommend spending more than a week here.
Given the limited availability of supermarkets, you'll find yourself eating out a lot. The food at the apartments is good quality and not too overpriced. The restaurants by the harbour were pretty disappointing, but then Greek food is pretty unremarkable anyway. Don't go to the Octopus- they tried overcharging us. Rather than going to the restaurants on the harbour itself where wild cats will pester you at the table, go to the restaurants on the hill overlooking the sea.
We paid about £130 each for a week with Kosmar and for the money, I cannot complain.
