I travelled with Xl and Kosmar to Lesvos the end of August, who are now defunct. Anaxos itself is a lovely, peaceful place and I really enjoyed the holiday. Just a few negative points about Chrisoula- firstly the apartments consisted of a small charmless room, there was a damp smell as well when we first arrived. I appreciate that Greek accomodation is more basic and traditional, but they really could have done a little more with the apartments to make them comfortable. We were given only 1 towel each and these were only changed once in the week. The sheets on the bed were not changed at all during the week. No blanket/bedspread was provided, I had to use my beachtowel at night when I got cold. For some reason our room was NOT cleaned regularly, in fact only twice in the week and we ended having to take the rubbish out ourselves on two occasions. The owner was rude and positively agressive to me on the last day, I still have no idea why!! Some positives: great location, clean pool, good food, nice balcony off apartment. I would return to Anaxos most definitely but would stay in cleaner more comfortable accomodation with an owner that didn't give you the evil eye every time you passed him!

Just back from anaxos and had a great holiday. Anaxos is a small resort with a good range of bars and restaurants, enough mini markets and trashy souvenier shops and not really much else. All our meals were good or excellent and Villa Nikki is to be highly reccomended (very traditional greek taverna, great food and also the cheapest bill of the week).
The beach at anaxos is OK, the sand isnt the nicest (grainy gravelly type sand that isnt very comfortable to walk on) but very clean both on the beach and in the water. The sea gets quite steep quite quickly so probably not the best for kids. Lots of sunbeds (about 5 euros for a pair) but you can get most of them for free if you eat or drink in their restaurants.
The rooms at Chrisoulla were fine by Greek standards, not the best but not the worst ive experienced. Rooms were clean and serviced a couple of times a week and kitchens had basic equipment to cook with if wed had wanted. Bathrooms were small with the usual greek shower in the middle of the room but did the job for us.
The pool was nice and clean, again not the biggest but enough space and sunloungers for the guests. The bar does some snacks (chips, toasties, greek salads etc) and drinks are well priced. The owners of were fairly tempremental in their hospitality, the sun was always helpful and friendly but the parents could be moody and unhelpful if you caught them at the wrong moment. The Kosmar rep was also helpful and a nice suprise was that she wasnt too desperate to sell us her 'trips'!
From what we saw of it (not much really) lesvos is a very pretty island, very green even in mid july. Its very mountinous so I wouldnt be particularly confident in hiring a car (too many hairpin bends and crazy greek drivers). This kind of limited how much we could explore the island but we did get out to molivos which is definitley worth a visit. The buses run a good service between anaxos, petra and molivos and appeared to be reliable.
The transfer from the airport is on the long side although it is a pretty and interesting drive through the mountains, unless you suffer with travel sickness. Took us about 1 1/2 hours each way.
So, I would recomend this holiday and studios if you want a good value location from which to spend a quiet holiday (pool, beach, eat, drink etc..). Dont expect too much luxury as this is greece and you wont be dissapointed!

I recently went on a vacation to Greece we had paid to stay in the Chrisoula Studios. we finally arrived on the 3rd July after a long delay at the Airport.
I went on holiday with my Partner we had been segregated from all the other guests on arrival and moved to another Apartment near by - straight away i found this very strange. we arrived at the other appartments which seemed to be in the middle of a building ground. - this was not acceptable for paying guests.
I was informed by our REP from kosmar that they had over booked our stay with 11 rooms in the Chrisouls Studios and 12 guests coming to stay. this was not our problem they had over booked and we got punished for the BIG MISTAKE.
As i have been to Greece many times before i know that the rooms are very basic.......The room we had been moved to had NO air condition, and no safe as
guaranteed on arrival. The windows did not lock. and the room was infested with insects. the room was cleaned once in the whole week we stayed, we also had to change the bed sheets ourselves as they had been left in a bag outside our front door. We were the only ones staying at these appartments and felt very unsafe.
The Rep was rude and aggressive towards us, she refused to help us or move us hotels. This really ruined our holiday i will never book again through Kosmar i am very disappointed.

Have just recently returned from this accomodation and dont know what Paul S. was talking about as we actually stayed in room 2 after moving ourselves there from Anaxos Gardens which 0 out of 10 is overated. The owners could not have been more helpful the accomodation was spotless sheets and towels changed and rooms cleaned on regular basis fully working air con, fridge and cooking rings if you really wanted to cook but why bother the bar food is excellent and very well priced. Lovely clean pool wth ample amount of sun loungers sea views from room 2 would say to anyone it is nice clean and friendly place and would stay there again without any hesitation.

I read Mr Paul Stallebrass' review after I had booked our holiday and I was dreading what we would find once we reached Anaxos. I can now only assume that Mr Stallebrass has never been to Greece before. The studios were completely typical of those found anywhere in Greece not just on Lesvos and were perfectly adequate, spotlessly clean with plenty of room. Most people go to Greece to sample the local tavernas etc and not to cook a three course meal in their room so the basic cooking facilities were perfectly acceptable. There was also an electric kettle which I have never encountered in any other accomodation I have stayed in on the Greek Islands - normally you would boil water in a small saucepan. The bathroom was fine - maybe slightly small but clean and functional with a great flush on the toilet. The shower was normal for Greece i.e. no shower curtain or tray but a perfectly good drainage system in the floor. The fridge was clean and worked well - especially the ice box and there was adequate crockery and cutlery and even a tea towel (although we took our own anyway). We had two balconies one of which overlooked the swimming pool. The pool itself was lovely - a good size and spotless with enough sunbeds for everyone in the studios - also good shower and WC facilities. The pool bar was also good serving a good selection of snacks and soft and alcoholic drinks - excellent iced coffee!! We were only 1 minute from the beach and 2 mins from the nearest taverna so the location was excellent.
Our Kosmar rep Laura Davison was excellent - great fun and very helpful. She helped overcome any language difficulties with the owners of the studios. Takis spoke very good English and was helpful and polite. Chrisoula and his wife were friendly but didn't speak much English. We would definitely recommend these studios and will probably return again in the next year or two.
Anaxos itself is a beautiful resort - peaceful without being dull and enough bars and tavernas for you not to have to go to the same place every night. The food is all good and very traditionally Greek - definitely recommend Villa Niki. The beach is long and a mixture of sand and shingle - we would advise wearing shoes in the sea to enable you to get in and out more easily. There are plenty of sunbeds most of which you can get free if you use various tavernas and bars.
This is about the 15th time we have used Kosmar and as usual they didn't let us down. We would highly recommend Lesvos and Anaxos in particular to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday and wanting to experience a more traditional side of Greece.

We have read recent reviews of the Chrisoula Apartments in Anaxos and feel that we must, as regular travellers to Greece, give our view of this accommodation.
Our first impression of our room was that the furniture and fittings could have done with a little upgrading, bearing in mind that it was the end of the season, and the balconies were a little on the small side. The room was spotless and bedding and towels changed every 3 days. Although the kitchen area was small, everything was provided to prepare basic meals, but no Sunday roasts!!
The pool area and bar was immaculately kept by the owners, who took great pride in this. The owner, Stephen, although a little reserved, couldn't do enough to help in any way he could (we found at the end of our holiday that he was going into hospital for some tests, we both hope he is fit and well).
Overall, we would recommend the Chrisoula Apartments to anyone who appreciates a quiet and peaceful holiday away from everything and who truly wants to experience the 'real Greece'.

Arrived at the Chisoula Studios on 4th October. Initially very concerned as we unloaded our baggage some 3 km from the accommodation to be assured by our rep that someone would be along to pick it up shortly (apparently the coach couldn't get down to the accommodation). After being dropped of in a central point in Anaxos we were frog marched down a hill to the Chrisoula Studios.
The room that we were initially given (No 2) had not been prepared at all and was visibly dirty and shabby; we were told that room 4 had been "prepared" for us as a replacement. Room 4 was no better, the place was barely clean, smelt of either cigarettes or livestock, we could not be sure, and incredibly small. The door to the apartment opened onto the foot of one of the beds!
The toilet had soiled paper waste in the bowl and the shower consisted of a twin tap with showerhead sited about 1 metre up the wall, there was no shower tray or curtain and to take a shower would have invariably flooded not only the room but most of the apartment. As it was there was no way of attaching the shower head at a height whereby a shower could normally be taken. The kitchen area consisted of a single bowl and drainer that came complete with its own sorry looking dirty cleaning sponge. Catering was to be achieved by utilising a single 1 ring cooker that had clearly seen better days and a small travel type kettle with barely the capacity to boil enough water to make two cups of tea. A saucepan and frying pan were the only cooking pots of any description and we never bothered to check the cleanliness of the crockery and cutlery.
When we immediately complained to our rep who had by now beaten a hasty retreat we were informed that the Studios were not untypical of those to be found in Lesvos and that in his opinion they were perfectly acceptable accommodation. Our stay at the Chrisoula Studios lasted no longer than our conversations with the rep. By now our cases had thankfully arrived and we walked across the road to the Anaxos Hotel and checked in there for the week at our own cost. Again on our departure our cases were whistled away from us and we were picked up in a central location.
I do not know how we could honestly state at the airport how we could be sure that our cases had remained in our sight and had not been tampered with by a third party.
Would we stay at the Chrisoula Studios again? Well, we didn't stay the first time!
Would we recommend the Chrisoula Studios? No.
Would we recommend Kosmar Holidays? Not on the strength of the reps help.

We have stayed at the Chrisoula appartments many times and have always found the owners Stratos, Chrisoula & their son Takis to be extremely helpful & friendly with an excellent sense of humour. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are always clean and the pool is also very clean & well maintained - a joy to use.
We are always greeted back each time like old friends, which after all these years is what we are.
The biggest decision to make each day is shall we stay by the pool or go to the beach - which is just across the road. Hard decisions!
