Having lived in Prague in the late 70s for three years, this was a form of homecoming for us. However, with two other couples in tow who had never visited Prague this was a true holiday. Prague is brighter, cleaner yet still remarkably cheap. Our hotel was within 10 minutes walk of the National museum on the top of Wenceslas Square, and less than 5 minutes away from the excellent tram and metro links across the city. The Hotel was small, very friendly and perfectly adequate for our needs, which were basically, a good breakfast and a good kip. The most important aspect of the hotel though was the small basement piano/guitar bar right next door.
This was a wonderful place for a nightcap after the theatre and a meal in town.
Prague is magnificent and Americans who stayed at our hotel as part of their European tour expressed the belief that Prague was more beautiful than Paris. I concur.
It was a wonderful hot reminiscence for my wife and I to revisit non-communist Prague. For young and old, Prague has much of interest and the Czechs are remarkably friendly.
Heske Ceske!!
