Lovely location - terrible hotel

Such a pity. A beautiful setting, one of the few hotels in Mallorca almost directly on the beach. The hotel initially looks lovely, has extensive grounds and a glamorous air. Then you get to your extremely expensive room, that was incredibly hard to reserve, and it is a closet. A closet with a view of the parking lot. That is the first dissapointment, the second is the amazingly bad and surly service, from check in to wait staff, to, well, everybody. Clearly whoever owns this hotel doesn't care. Please Aman Resorts or someone, take over this...

lovely setting, tired hotel

Hotel Formentor is the only place to sleep or eat on this peninsular, which is 20 minutes of hairpin track from the nearest resort of Porto Pollensa. The setting is beautiful, though the hotel itself is a plush barrack. Prices for everything are at least twice what you would pay elsewhere. There are no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms. Water from the minibar is one choice; a 40 minute treck to the nearest shop is the other. So plan ahead. Rooms are plain, not large and not particularly comfortable. If you can't get a sea-facing...

A hotel trading on its past "glories". A lovely setting with pretty gardens and right by the beach. However, the rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are the smallest we have ever seen. The food is OK at best and very expensive compared to what is on offer on the rest of Mallorca, €50 for paella when a much better paella was available in Pollenca for just €15! The worst thing about the Formentor is the surly attitude of the staff who are bordering on the unhelpful. We went in August and would not go back again. For those looking for a really...

This hotel is located in heven with truely amazing views and really is the best hotel in Majorca. The staff are very friendly but tend to argue allot in public places in spanish which is a bit off putting for such a top drawer hotel particually when the clients do not speak Spanish. The food was really very good on 4 nights and only ok 2 of the nights(nothing really to complain but just ok). Be aware that they charge for everything including sitting at the beach and for paddle boats which is very off putting when it costs nearly $3500 a...
