Jul 2007, Miss S Adair

We all really enjoyed our stay in Kleoni apartments. The journey from kalamata airport to Tolon was very long, and after a three hour flight , very tiring.
The rooms were lovely and clean. The beds were very comfortable and we had the most fantastic view from the spacious balcony. There was also a separate kitchen area with microwave and small fridge. All the staff were delightful and did all they could to help you.
The pool was great although we spent most of the time in the sea.
The apartment was only a 2 min walk from the town and about 10 min walk to a brilliant sandy beach with banana boating and ringo-ing. Really great fun.
There is also a harbour nearby from which we took a boat trip around the islands. A brilliant day out .
There were many great restaurants around the town and lots of little shops for gifts. There is also a great t-shirt printing shop, perfect gift for friends and family.
Overall a great stay!

Jun 2007, Mrs S Shearer

Was very apprehensive about our holiday in Kleoni apts especially after reading some of comments. The bus journey from Kalamata was extremely tiring and not sure I'd like to do it again.
We arrived very tired and worried about the accommodation. I'm not sure the two holiday makers who gave very negative overviews of Kleoni Apts were staying the same Kleoni Apts as us!
Our room was basic but very clean. The bed was very comfortable, the shower clean and no-where was there a smell of damp or anything else for that matter - we took our own small kettle as most Greek sc apts give you the same thing to boil water as they do - a small pan ... I think this is perfectly acceptable.
The English lady owner Eve was marvellous ... I was surprised at the smoking comment from one person as it turns out the owner has never smoked! She was always available, nothing was too much trouble, even took me for a coffee to a friend to owned a taverna on the beach.
Her son Peter who helped in the bar was lovely ... his G & T's were extraordinarily strong ... just as I like them.
The village was lively without being boisterous, lots of archaeological sites and vineyards to visit in the locality. Nauplion must rate as the most beautiful town in Greece, recommend a visit.
Also recommend a trip to Epidaurus to the Theatre to hear a Greek play ... you might not understand a word but oh the atmosphere is to die for.
I heartily recommend Kleoni Apts, Tolon, and the Peloponese and have to thank Eve for making a really good holiday wonderful in fact I plan to return in August 2007.

May 2007, Miss N Kennedy

I love this place. We have been for 2 consecutive years and I intend to go again next year.
I will be having a baby this summer and am really going to miss the place.
The accommodation is clean and has all the basics for preparing cold meals and very basic hot meals (take a travel kettle though).
Its 'cheap and cheerful' and comparable to other holidays I have been on for the same price. The owners are so friendly and will do anything to help you out.
The resort itself has just about everything you could ask for and the restaurants are reasonably priced.
It is just a really friendly place, not many (dare I say) 'chavs' or louts going there for their hols which in my opinion, is the greatest appeal.

Oct 2006, Mr J Ahmed

My partner and I love Greece. We have traveled there for many years from the UK. We are both very hardworking individuals and therefore look forward to our holidays. This is the most appalling accommodation we have ever stayed in. I cannot express in words alone what a terrible waste of money and disappointment this holiday was. When we arrived at the airport in Kalamata, the journey to this accommodation is 3 hours. This was not mentioned to us at the time of booking and was stated no where in the literature to us. Therefore when you set of for your journey from Gatwick as we did, it takes 1 hour for us to get to airport, a further 2 hours booking in, a further 3 - 4 hours flying time and then a solid 3 hours traveling in a so called air conditioned coach. Total traveling time approximately door to door nine hours and your holiday has not begun. We were a stone throw away from the pool area seen in photo on site. The accommodation was very dirty indeed. I could not fathom out how some providers of accommodation such as the Kleoni Club could provide such appalling accommodation and expect humans to live in it. Dust everywhere on the bottom floor to include the couches! The bathroom was a cupboard with no ventilation. Hot water in the morning and cold water in the evening, sometimes we got lucky and had hot water in the evening prior to going out. Upstairs bedroom fit enough for miniature people in Lego land. No room to move about except balcony. No TV. No kettle. There is a sink and a "bench" to make a sandwich, this kitchen is directly opposite the cupboard bathroom. Place was damp and take mosquito repellant, use air conditioner, it helps a bit against the mozzies. We were not greeted when we arrived at accommodation, I was shortchanged at bar area and had to query it, and then got the proper change. Pool was murky and lots of noise from kids during day, which was not too bad if you had your own kids. Please save your money and book elsewhere, I cannot drive home the truth of this place strong enough. The owners could not care less when we complained about dust and water. We did not even get a sweep of the room or a wipe of the surfaces. I expect better treatment from my own when abroad, hah was I disappointed. The young lad in my opinion was running the place, the English wife sat about all day by the pool enjoying the temperature of the day and having a fag with her mates. Food was fantastic in town, some real bargains, take a cab home at night as roads do not have pavements and cab drivers have the need to do 70 miles per hour in a 20 zone on the same road you will be walking back in, beach is nice, warm water and clean. Tolon felt like it has had its time but still a nice place to get away from it all. Good for motorbike hire and they enjoy a haggle. Best of luck but not this place, believe me you are wasting your money big time!

Aug 2006, Mrs A Owen

We'd read one of the scathing reviews and were dubious about our visit to Kleoni Club. These doubts were totally unfounded and would like to add that we too had a fabulous time.
The owner Evie and her son Peter were friendly and extremely helpful, down to their son playing with our 6 year old daughter Alex in the swimming pool. We had several lunches there and enjoyed every one and Evie the owner gave us some valuable travel tips of places to visit etc.
The accommodation was great and we had fabulous views over the bay. Tolon had loads of great eating places and was a bustling but not an over busy place. It was a great base to visit the surrounding areas and we had a great holiday. Don't let the long transfer time from Kalamata to Tolon put you off, you won't be disappointed.
Thanks for a great holiday. P.S. Evie we can now make our own Frappes, thanks for the making instructions!

Aug 2006, Mrs D L May

After reading some of the negative comments on this site, we were a little dubious about what we were going to find. However we need not have worried because everything about this place was 100% 1st class!
Our accommodation was both clean & very homely with fantastic views of both the sea & pool, the owners were probably the most friendliest & nicest people you could wish to meet & nothing was ever too much trouble for them, in fact on occasion, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
For me & my children, this was definitely 1 of the best holidays we have had & have vowed to return. Tolon is very beautiful, has plenty of shops, tavernas etc & is within easy reach of places to visit. All in all a wonderful holiday & we are surprised this pretty little resort isn't more widely advertised. Well worth a visit!

Jan 2006, V Langstaff

We go to Greece every year and have been to most of the islands. We booked the Kleoni club through first choice believing it to be as described in the brochure - small, but clean and adequately furnished. How wrong we were. After a long journey we arrived to find that our studio was absolutely tiny and that it did not even really have a bathroom.
It was hard-boarded off in a corner of the studio, absolutely filthy and so small you could not sit on the toilet and shut the door. The whole floor of the studio was very stained and the walls were filthy with visible handprints from previous occupants. There was no sound insulation between apartments and we could hear every word of spoken conversations from other studios. We complained to the first choice rep and got no joy so we moved ourselves, after staying only one night, to the first class King Minos hotel. What a difference!
Although it did cost more money it was fabulous. The staff very friendly and helpful and the views were out of this world. We loved Tolon, it is a super place, but definitely not the Kleoni club and don't even bother trying to complain to first choice holidays on your return - save your breath!

When my wife and I arrived at airport...
3 / 10
Nov 2005, Mr Ab Beaucannon

When my wife and I arrived at airport (Kalamata) we were excited as we go to Greece every year. However the journey by coach from Kalamata airport was 3 - 3.5 hours - lots of traffic on roads especially nearer the various towns. This added alot more strain on the journey from the UK although the coach rider did stop for a 20 minute break to grab a quick pie and fizzy drink.
No owners met us at accommodation or asked us how we were for the full 14 days we were there. The rep showed us our room handed the keys to us and told us to enjoy the holiday but I noticed she opened all the windows downstairs as it was very damp in the room and it smelled as well. I was initially a bit disappointed but left it at that. Then I noticed the room downstairs was filthy - a cursory sweeping of the floor had taken place.
To get upstairs one has to go up a precarious stairwell - not safe at all as your feet could catch whilst going upstairs as no backs built to the stairs! When up the stairs the room is cosy but you have to look where you are walking as the staircase is a hole in the corner of the room. After a glass of wine stay upstairs as the stairs are tricky as my wife found out. The bathroom had no air vent and was tiny almost like a box cupboard. The pool was nice however occasionally the smell of refuse would drift up to our noses where nobody had bothered putting the refuse elsewhere. I could see the black bags near the restaurant and bar area. This happened quiet alot so I gave up using the pool. Drinks at the pool pricey as well.
Also you have to get out of the pool after 7 o clock in the evening - its off limits. I also complained to the owner (an English lady) about the cleanliness of the apartment and unfortunately she was very laxidase to my concerns but as we found out a cursory sweeping of the rooms took place after we complained. The balcony upstairs we had, the back one overlooking sea in distance was filthy and clearly had not been cleaned for a long time. Even the finish on the floor of the balcony is plain concrete with a dripping pipe which takes care of the air conditioning. Kitchen is good to make a sandwich or a cracker biscuit - its tiny and you will be disappointed with it. We had to boil water for cups of tea as no kettle and no TV either although a huge hulking bracket hangs of the wall above your head up the stairs with aerial socket for the invisible TV.
A plus was the beach is very close and the people in the town very friendly and the grub was value for money. We go to Greece every year but I can categorically say, - We will never go to Kleoni Club apartments again - HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED I am sorry to say. We could not wait to get out of the apartment mainly due to the cleanliness aspect. A waste of good British pounds I am afraid to say.

Getting to these apartments from the...

Sep 2005, Mr J Stankovic

Getting to these apartments from the airport is by taxi organised by the hotel which was great as no hassles at the airport.
We found the staff when we arrived friendly and attentive with no reasonable request too hard for them to do.
The rooms we found were roomy clean and tidy, the pool area was excellent to relax in and have a drink by after a full day of visiting the plentiful historic sites and attractions in the area.
If you want to go out for the evening their are many authentic Greek restaurants and Tavernas within easy walking distance from the hotel.
I found this hotel and area a great place to relax and will definitely be back again.

Sep 2005, Mr K R Bayne

A holiday with the personal touch.
Apartments are ideal; clean, tidy and well prepared with all the facilities you need at hand to make life easy.
The family who run the accommodation are really friendly adding the personal touch to a relaxing holiday. They are flexible and willing to assist whenever required. Didn’t know prior to arrival but they can arrange collection from the airport if you need it.
Will stay again and highly recommend these apartments to anyone staying in the area

Aug 2005, Mr M Landymore

We arrived at Athens airport to be met by a very nice taxi driver sent by Eve Iouannou the owner of Kleoni Apartments. The taxi ride takes about two hours. We were made to feel welcome from are arrival to departure. I have three kids and they had a great time at the pool and Eve also cooked all those meals only kids will eat, just a great place if you have kids. The room was a good size for the five of us and we were very happy with it. We had a great holiday here and hope to be back soon.
