This first class hotel is located towards the harbour end of Tolon on a steep hill, 200 metres or so from the main road with panoramic views over the village and surrounding area. With a large swimming pool and poolside bar, spacious lounge and inside bar, the King Minos offers air conditioned rooms with either sea, harbour or mountain view. A great hotel with friendly staff that can't do enough for you.
The hotel is a 5 min uphill walk up from the beach & shops. Being elevated you always have a nice breeze to cool you down in the hot summer months.
I would certainly recommend the King Minos for a great all round hotel in an ideal quiet location with a excellent pool & pool side bar.
We booked the hotel direct which was very straightforward and the taxi they organised to collect us from Athens airport was waiting for us when we arrived. The journey only took 90 min as opposed to 3 hours on a package holiday from Kalamata airport.

The King Minos is set high on the hill (so a little bit of a walk) but well worth it for the absolutely stunning views over the lovely beach and harbour. The rooms are immaculate with more than you need (even full size ironing board and Iron stored in cupboard). The balconies are the biggest I have ever seen so delightful for watching all the boats in the harbour.
All of the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. Breakfast is very good, served in the restaurant overlooking the swimming pool and bay. We booked direct with the hotel who sent a taxi for us to Athens. It was so easy and ran exactly as planned - we couldn't believe it! Don't bother with tour operators, it is so much easier and cheaper this way.
Tolon town itself is ideal with plenty of choice of tavernas and ouzeries, but still low key with good, authentic Greek cuisine. We did not have a bad meal while there. The beach and sea are lovely, and try hiring a boat from Telis from the beach. These are the yellow ones from outside Barbaressa. Telis and his wife Margaret are lovely and friendly and it is gorgeous sailing around Romvi Island. We did this many times taking a picnic and snorkelling off the boat.
Altogether a top holiday and will be booking again soon!
