We are a couple in our 20's and we stayed at Paschalis for 2 weeks. The climb is a bit of a chore in the mid-day heat but after 2 mins you have forgotten all about it! The views from the apartments are stunning. The pool area is clean and tidy as well as relaxed and peaceful and there are more than enough sunbeds. The owners are helpful, approachable and friendly. Room and balcony was very clean and tidy and bedding and towels were changed 4 times during our stay.
Troulos is lovely!!!
The Beach
The sun beds in front of the Troulos Bay hotel are better as they are more spaced out and are a euro cheaper! The sea is lovely and clean.
Trips Out
A boat trip deaprts from Troulos Beach (10 Euros) - Lazy Day Bat Trips. The man and his wife who run the trips are brilliant and tell you stories and information about the Skiathos coast as you travel around. It was a lovely day.
We went on a thomas cook organised boat trip to Skopelos and Alonossis whic again we enjoyed - we got to see dolphins too. 2 hours at each town - enough time to wonder around at leisure and perhaps enjoy a crepe and a beer!
We hired a quad bike and drove around the island which was a great day. We hired a 50cc bike from Victoria (bus stop 19) and took our time driving around the island. It was lovely to go inland and drive through the hilly mountains and along the coastal roads. Would hire a quad again or a jeep but wouldn't recommend the scooters unless you only want to travel along the main road on the south of the island.
We used the bus a lot during our stay and went to Skiathos town - bus service is superb and quite an experience! Skiathos town a bit livelier and nice for a change of scenery!
Tavernas and Bars
Places we would recommened to eat are Troulos Bay Hotel, Nectar and Ambrosia, Victoria Bar, Yamas and the taverna opposite Yamas with all the hanging lights (can't remember the name!!) Personally for an evening meal I would avoid the taverna on the beach with the red table cloths. The Frog bar and Victoria Bar in Troulos are brilliant for cocktails and drinks! All lovely relaxed atmospheres and the people who run them are friendly and couldn't make you feel more welcome. Plakes in Skiathos town is superb(views across the bay are stunning) as are some of the restaurants on the sea front along the 'club strip'.
We would definitly go back to Skiathos again staying in Troulos and at Paschalis. We had an absolutely brilliant 2 weeks holiday.

Aug 2008, Mr M Scott

My wife and I are ust back from a weeks stay at Paschalis and wish we were back there! Troulos has abit of a cosmopolitan feel about it, particularly on the superb sandy beach which is only 5/10 mins walk from the apartments. The sea is crystal clear and safe for kids. There are a couple of tavernas on the beach, both seem to specialise in abrupt service but the food is always good, so just grin a bear it! Yes the appartments have no frills but they are clean with a good shower room and the basics to keep yourself fed and watered; what else do you need? Our room also had a most breath taking view across the bay. Talking of breath taking the hill up from the road is a bit of task but it helps to burn off all the souvalaki, gyros, kleftico and myriad treats on offer at the various tavernas only a short walk from the appartments. You soon get used to it and the view once you get to the top is to die for (although at times you may feel you actually have). The pool area is good, the air conditioning is great and the bar honour system works well. Also do use the buses, they are great and Skiathos town is only about 20mins and very vibrant at night. We would stay at Paschalis aagain without a second thought as we had a fantasticly relaxing holiday there.

We had a nice time at Paschalis, and the walk really isn't that bad! However we did have a few reservations. The towels provided were tiny and paint splattered which seemed ridiculous and the kitchen equipment was totally minimal with only one knife provided between two people for both eating and chopping! The cleaning service was also very basic with no change of sheets in a week and no washing up. However, the apartments had a beautiful view and were very peaceful, with a nice pool. They are also in a great location, close to the beach, Frog Bar and tavernas. The beach is lovely, but avoid the taverna with the red tablecloths! The blue bay (blue tablecloths) provide much better service and food.

Very clean, well maintained apartments. Except for the climb from the main road, the apartments are situated about 100 ft up the hillside, the stay was excellent although it would not be a problem for any reasonably fit person. A dip in the pool after the climb was always welcome. Beautiful views from the apartments.l The pool bar operates an honesty system, take what you want, mark it in the book, and then pay at the end of the week. NOBODY ABUSES THE SYSTEM. The owners go out of their way to make sure everybody is happy.Troulos itself is beautiful, situated in a wooded area. The bus service which runs down one side of the Island is a must to try.Its better to experience the trip than have it described.
The apartments are about 300 yards from the beach which is sandy and gentlely shelves into the sea. A small bar, supermarket, and 4 little restaurants are on the 200yard track from the main road to the beach. No noisy music or boom boom bars in the area. Appeals to all age groups who want a peaceful holiday.

I had the misfortune of reeading Mr K WYNN's comments a week before heading off to stay at the Paschalis for a fortnight so I had some reservations before we had even arrived...however, that being said we had a highly enjoyable time and would certainly return! Whenever I saw Panios he was busy working and we never had a problem with any noise. Panios and the other staff are always happy to help and to echo another user's comments the cleaner works very hard, seemingly 7 days a week.
The pool area is great and often provided welcome relief after walking up to the apartments in the heat of the day. There are more than enough sunbeds/parasols and we too had the place to ourselves on occasion.
The only reason I'm not giving the Paschalis 10/10 is because of how basic the accommodation is - if you do attempt to cook it is a bit of a challenge due to the lack of equipment (one knife between 2 people?!) and the 'cooker' consisting of two electric hobs - we even had to borrow a chopping board from the apartment next to ours at one point (thanks girls!).
We too visited the Nectar and Ambrosia restaurant which is about 5-10 minutes walk up towards Troulous and absolutely loved it - the service is great and the food is fabulous - by far the best Kleftiko in Skiathos!
The proximity to the beach, tavernas, supermarket and the friendly surroundings of the Frog Bar make the Paschalis a great place to stay.
If you see a mottled tortoiseshell white cat pottering about the apartments give her a bowl of water and some scraps of food and you'll have a friend for life, or at least the duration of your stay....

Jun 2008, Miss C THOMPSON

just returned from troulos and had a lovely time at the appts, they were clean, quiet and on an incline which meant the view from the top was amazing.. ( i thought i needed some kind of mountain equipement from the previous reviews i read) yes, it was steep but took a total of 2 minutes to climb from the steep bit to the top, nothing that bad if you are fairly fit, a man on crutches seemed to manage it ok!!
to be able to look out of your balcony on a morning and look at the mountain and sea views and then the sunset on an evening made 2 minutes of pain well worth it...
the pool was clean and the appts spacious, there were a few ants and mosquit0s but thats what to expect when you visit a hot country, just be equipped with sprays and mosquito plugs and you will be fine...on some days we had the pool to ourselves, it was like having our own holiday appts. skiathos is lovely and if i did return i would stay here again...(for 4 girls between 30 - 36 wanting a relaxing peacful holiday it was just perfect...) the air con was needed and cost only 35 euro for a week for 2 people which was worth every penny with temperatures of 37 degrees...troulos was quiet on an evening(visit the nectar and ambrosia restaurant which was excellent) skiathos town is only a bus ride away, keep away from the harbour bars which charge £7.00 for a drink, take a map to skiathos, there are a lot of winding streets and we did not even manage to find bar street the first time we went which is the main area to visit on an evening....

Famlies with young children or older...

Jun 2008, Mr K WYNN

Famlies with young children or older people do not book these apartments !!!
Skiathos is a fantastic place but these apartments are up a massive hill so you need a Jeep (cost approx 190 euros a week) and the walls are paper thin so couples coming in at 4am you get to hear them being sick or laughing or just having a chat, depending on their night, or in our case you then get them complaing to the rep because your children (5 & 3 year old`s) are getting up at 8am and disturbing their hangeover !! we paid nearly £1600 for a fortnight plus it cost us £200 for a jeep for 10 days what a rip off (thomas cook) i`ve been to 10 greek resorts so i know what to expect but their air-CON 140 EUROS ! for 2 units when it worked , to be fair he gave us 30 euros back,he fitted a new unit then that packed in (we gave up in the end) other problems shower head flew off with the water pressure and smacked me in the head, ant`s ant`s & more ant`s in the room (gave us some spray) kitchen tap snapped off (repaired 2nd last day.Towels the size of a tea towel, not good and only replaced twice in 10 days then twice in 4 days (only when we mentioned it to rep) and bed linen changed 3 times in 2 weeks, and beware when coming up from the pool near room 1 my wife smacked her head and cut it on a air-con outdoor unit when carrying our little un up from the pool. They have since dangled an old tea towel from it (it needs heightened urgently) don`t use the blankets on top of your wardrobe they smell awfull, as someone else mentioned the maid is a star and works her butt off but Panioni the son just walks round with his top off looking stoned, the pool looks great but at times didn`t look very clean with all sorts of bugs and slime floating in it and you have to see the state of the sharp tiles on the steps into the pool, the bar`s been mentioned before and nobody goes there until a couple of panionis UK female friends turned up MUSIC BLASTING !!!!!!
till 2am i then went down to have a word and he`s getting a private table top dance off them. But as i said Skiathos is great and we did have a great holiday but kept away from the Paschalis as much as posb, check out some great beaches (Mandraki) & the very busy Koukanaries and the best food in Trolous just down the road at the Ambrose and Nectar not cheap or quick service but very good or Blue Bay (blue tables) on the great beach in Troulos the other one`s not so good (red tables) both owned by feuding brother`s and the one with the kids play area, near the Victoria car hire (can`t remember the name) and to many to mention in Skiathos Town,

Our party of 2 adults and 2 children...

Sep 2007, Mr J Wakefield

Our party of 2 adults and 2 children disembarked the transfer coach from Airport to be greeted by Panios at the foot of the hill leading to the Paschalis Apartment.
Panios takes your luggage up the steep hill to the apartments in his van.
First time up the hill is not too hard going but once you see the view from the pool terrace or balcony; it's worth it!
Apartments are basic but very clean with a good maid service every 2 days!
Pool area is spotless and is fantastic to relax around, our two children loved it!
There is a very relaxed atmosphere at the Paschalis, you help yourself to the drinks at the pool bar and write in a book, settling the bill is at your convenience if you manage to catch Panios or his parents.
We recommend the Taverna Varelli up at the road junction in Troulos, turn right at the end of the drive and walk along main road (Past Green Meadow also Excellent) and past petrol station up to junction, Varelli is in far left corner, George and his english wife Rosa are fantastic, get in before eight to secure a table! Food is out of this world and very reasonable.
Overall our relaxing two week stay in Skiathos was fantastic, we hired a jeep from Magda who runs Mustang car hire in Koukounaries (Bus stop 23) this made accessing the various beaches easier!
Troulos beach 5 mins from Paschalis is excellent, clear water and sandy beach, great for snorkeling.
We are returning next year but will stay in the Atrium hotel in Plantanias.

My partner and I found these...

Jul 2007, Miss M Davis

My partner and I found these apartments to be superb. There is quite a strenuous walk from the main road to reach them but the tranquillity and the views make it all worthwhile.
The studios are kept very clean. Although it was remarked that the maid and the owners don't speak much English, we did not find this to be a problem. After all we were on foreign shores and I find it pompous that British people expect everyone to speak English. In fact it gave us a reason to practice the little Greek that we knew and we learnt some more useful phrases. The locals will appreciate the attempts you make at their language.
The family were very hospitable and we spent many an evening chatting with them whilst watching the sunset. Sofia the maid was very amenable and would often join me in the pool for an impromptu game of water polo. We intend to go back next year to see our new friends.
All in all these apartments were great value for money and we couldn't have wished for more.

Stayed at Paschalis self-catering...

Jul 2007, skoda321

Stayed at Paschalis self-catering apartments in Troulos for one week with my teenage daughter. Very much enjoyed our stay.
Skiathos overall is well suited to those with young families or who want peace and quiet, although is very hilly so would be worth considering hiring a jeep or car to get around and explore the rest of the island which isn't served by the one route bus service.
Our apartment was basic, but was cleaned almost every day and sheets changed twice during our stay. Lovely swimming pool for chilling out.
Was also able to buy water and drinks from bar to put on bill and settle before leaving, which was useful as the access route to the apartments is up a steep hill, so saved having to carry from shop.
Would have been useful to purchase snacks as well, but there are plenty of shops nearby. You just have to make sure you can carry it back uphill!

Jul 2007, Mr D Broyd

We visited this small island with no idea of what to expect and found, what we all agreed to be, a small slice of heaven. If you like the sun, sand and a reasonably quiet life this could be your perfect break.
Yes, the hill was hard work in the heat of the day, the rooms basic and the facilities very standard but for value for money and stunning views in a relaxed environment meant the apartments and, most importantly, the whole island was lovely.
We could recommend several tavernas, though not on the beach front as we had a very "bad" experience on our first night there (several other guests agreed with us when we discussed this). The only problem is that after several litres of good, very cheap, wine at each meal we couldn't exactly remember their names, sorry!
I can tell you that the 2 tavernas either side of the junction of the road to Byzantium apartments near bus stop 18 were good value and very tasty and so was the small restaurant next door to Victoria supermarket almost opposite Byzantium.
All in all we had a very relaxing and pleasant stay made most enjoyable by the helpful people, good food, booze and sun. Please try this one but don't expect too much and you will be made up - trust me.
It was perfect for us with our 7 year old daughter and the holiday makers we met while we were there.

Jul 2007, Mr M Evans

A basic self catering apartment with sea view and air con, run by a friendly Greek family.
This is a no frills holiday for the more adventurous person who does not expect too much. The apartments are above sea level with a five minute walk uphill which is quite demanding in mid afternoon with the temperature 40+.
There is a regular bus service but a car or jeep is recommended if you wish to take the opportunity to explore the full splendour of the Island and visit some out of the way taverns.
