Green Meadow Studios & Apartments

Just returned from a week in the Green Meadows. Great location, set away from main road, very quiet. This is also due to the pool bar not being open the whole week of our stay, which is not a bad thing. No music blasting out all day and who wants to sit around the pool all holiday. Great beaches just 10 minutes walk away and a regular bus service that runs every 20 mins and stops at all the resorts from Koukanaries to Skiathos Town. Only bad point about Troulos is the resturants - we had two good meals, one in the Green Meadows taverna itself (9 euros each for 3 courses with half a caraffe of red wine) and on the beach at the far right a little cafe run by the sunbed man that did fantastic meals and even better breakfasts. Other than that we travelled to Paraskevi on a night for a meal at the Kohili taverna which is only 3 stops and 1.80 euro on the bus each. Little price to pay for a nice meal that can make your holiday. Only bad point was on the last day of the holiday the gardener demanded a tip from me and my wife. When we pretended to look confused as to why we should pay him, he pulled a roll of 10 and 20 euro notes from his top pocket to state his point. The man had more money on him than we took on holiday! Well if you call lying on the sun beds all week smoking and sitting in the bushes smoking while watching my wife get ready to go out on a night - thats why he didn't get a tip. A Greek would never do that !! Also if you want a hot shower make sure its before 11am and before 6pm because the hot water was turned off between those times. The cleaner was in the room every day and did a great job - she did get a tip. When we spoke to other guests we found varying descriptions of their rooms. Some bungalows over a little bridge are much older and more tired so beware - not all guests were as satisfied as us.

The setting is fantastic five minute walk from the beach, bus stop opposite the entrance. All local amenities very close to hand.
The apartments are very spacious and clean but in the brochure it says there is a pool bar, this is not the case it has been closed down. So if you want an ice cream for the kids you have to walk to the local shop there is no food or drink available on site during the day.
I would recommend Skiathos for a visit the beaches of which there are many are the best I have seen and the scenery and views are magnificent but as for the green meadow I thought it was poor.
