wasp invasion
from carriclaire
blue bay was a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds, the staff were friendly but unfortunatley i had no luck with the first choice reps. our room was like a rabbit hutch and when we asked to change we were told we got what we paid for even though the place was half empty, the food was good, something for everyone, the night time entertainment was dire even though they tried hard. anybody going next year should beware! there are millions of wasps and mosquitos and my 14 yr old daughter was bitten alive 49 mossie bites but she really loved it as she made some great friends namely holly, shannon, ashley, mike and connor
excellent holiday

this was our fist holiday abroad with my partners daughter age 4. the hotel was just what we needed. all inclusive facilities were great. plenty of choice of food. first choice kids club absolutely brilliant. the 4 year old wanted to spend more time there than with us!!! this hotel is great for a family holiday, or those who like quiet nights. probably not the best choice for young couples as the night time entertainment is limited to the hotel. the hotel was very clean and well presented.
If you like to go back to nature this is the place for you

After a very stressful year myself and my finance wanted a quite week in the sun to relax and re-charge the batteries. That is certainly what we got!!!!! The hotel is quite and very peaceful, too peaceful at times. The hotel provides you with a shuttle bus service to the two local villages, Kassiopi and Arcarivi. Although the hotel provides this service you are limited to a two hour stay in either village. You can get a taxi back to the hotle but be warned you will not get a taxi on a monday or a friday as all the taxis are on airport runs. Kassiopi is a lovely place but there is nothing to do there. There is a man in a boat on the harbour who will take you to the blue caves for 15 euros, which is a lot cheeper than the reps. If you fancy a night away from the resort and the food there is a resturant just off the square in Kassiopi called Castellos which serves lovely greek food - much nicer than the hotel. The food in the hotel is ok. Although there is choice the food becomes very repetative. You are provided with the same choice of breakfast every day. Lunch and dinner are similar every time and on some occassions i felt as if i was eating the previous days left overs, but presented differentley. The snacks provided at the pool are a choice of either a hotdog or a pizza, would recommend the pizza every time!!!!!!! The drinks are provided all day but you can only get them at the pool bar and then the main bar opens at 6pm. The evening enterainment is a joke. The only good night is the reps night and even then it seems to be directed at the children. There is a disco every night for the children and this seems to run into the evening adult entertainment. Although there are alot of children, they are quite durring the day and run riot in the evening. Alot of the entertainment is provided by people from outside the hotel, accept for the entertainment staff, who called themselves the dj's. Women please be aware that they are leeches and i was made to feel very uncomfortable on the first night, so for the rest of the holiday i was constantly looking over my shoulder. The rest of the staff including the bar staff and the reps went out of their way to make our stay as pleasurable as pos. Please take mosquito spray with you. i never normally get biten but within the first 24 hours i was eaten alive. Sitting here at home i home i have just counted over 50 bites on my legs. If you do get bitten then in the shop outside in the resort you can by an extra strong bite stick which really worked. We also got some candels even for when we were siting by the pool bar in the evening which seemed to help. If you want a quite time in the middle of no where then this is the place for you.
Just returned from an excellent relaxing week at the blue bay resort!

Just returned for a week at the hotel, We had an excellent time, there was 4 people in our party ranging from 21 - 30 ( 2 couples) The hotel was very clean & everything was in top condition as the hotel is only 4 years old, The staff are very polite & helpfull, The rooms were very big & very clean, towels were changed dailey & room cleaned. We were at the hotel all inclusice but never made breakfast so i carnt coment on that. Food was very good, Somthing there for everyone, good range of drinks, i think we had our moneys worth of beer & drinks never mind anything else!! Entertaintment at nigh was good, Not much to do at night but thats what we wanted a nice relaxing holiday, weather was 28 - 30 degrees everday, we hired a car for 3 days too see the island, many many beatifull things to see, Only problem were the wasps & mosiys but thats nothing at all to do with the hotel, the whole island is the same. Really couldnt fault the hotel, stunning views, Not ideal for people who are after a really lively night life but ideal if you wana relax & chill out!!!!
Mislead, not a 4star

Stayed here for a week on a all inclusive basis. Five of us, ages ranged from 16-23. Booked our holiday with first choice as a lastminute holiday. Service was ok. Transfer from the airport to the hotel took around 1hour. For five of us we had to book two cabs, as no more than four passengers were allowed. This cost us 47 euors per cab. Once we arrived we were booked in quickly to our apartments and our suitcases were drove to the apartments.. APARTMENTS: they were spacious, we had two bedrooms for the five of us and two bathrooms. This was not of a four star standard. Tha bathroom was covered in mould, the toilet had a strong urine smell and also toilet paper was NOT allowed to be placed in the toilet. Maids cleaned the room everyday, or so they say as the sheets were not changed for the week we werethere!! FOOD: Breakfast and dinner was served in the main restaurant. Food ok but within three days we were getting bored of the same thing. Served as a buffet style. Lunch was served near the pool... Beware of the wasps they surround you when eating, drinking, sunbathing...etc!! Also plenty of stray cats and dogs suround the area!! LOCATION: very secluded there was nothing around apart from two beaches. The one on the right is not a good beach and ofthen empty. The one on the left was where many people go to. Water very clear and sand ok. Sunbeds and parasols are charged 3euros each til the end of the day. There are shops that sell snacks and fruits and gifts. Take a taxi to the main part where there are plenty of shops and restaurants, takes around 10minutes. ENTERTAINMENT: there was entertainment every night and it was not bad but after 11pm there was not much to do unless we left the area. WEATHER: we went durin the begginnig of september so be prepared and bring jackets and jeans as it does get cold on the resort and also rained occassionally. OVERALL I have been to a four star hotel in spain, tunisia and turkey and in comparison this hotel was much more like a 3star. Greece is such a nice place, i would come back, but not to this hotel!! The best thing about this place is the scenery, definately!
EXCELLENT VFM : An "Out of season 'must'

GENERAL Just back from Blue Bay - this was excellent value for money (a one week all inclusive break for two @ £750 incl all flights transfers etc - how could anyone go wrong). HOTEL The apartments are clean and well tended as are the surrounding hotel grounds. The interior of the Blue Bay Hotel is spotless - the army of cleaning staff takes a real pride in their work and keeps the place to a very high standard. FOOD & STAFF As far as buffet type food is concerned, the meals are excellent, varied and served to a very high standard, the soup is especially good. The staff are polite and efficient and appear to work quite long hours - praise doesn't cost anything and as long a you make an effort to be cheerful and friendly, the same will come back to you ten-fold. GOOD & BAD POINTS The good points are too many to mention - we couldn't really fault anything apart from the continual swam of wasps around the swimming pool (talking to other holiday makers on the return coach, I understand that this is a general seasonal problem throughout Corfu (?). The only other negative comment would be the high number of cats throughout the complex (if you like cats maybe it’s OK but they beg around the swimming pool food tables and were encouraged by many guests continually feeding them and petting them) As I mentioned in the title, if you go out of season you can be sure of a superb week in this lovely hotel and I would have no hesitation in recommending it. I would think that any bad review may be directed at peak season visits as I would expect this venue is very popular with families (which I add are well catered for) TOP TIP For a peaceful and beautiful beach, exit the complex from the bottom gate, turn left and follow the small road that runs parallel with the beach, cross over the wooden bridge (note the fish!) Enter the nature reserve area and follow the track up a slight incline for approx 700m then take the first right turn down the small track - 300 m further on you will arrive at the most beautiful safe and sandy beach where we spent most of time, The swimming is excellent the water crystal clear . At any one time, we only saw 2 or 3 other couples at the same time we were on the beach. Finally a 'hello' to all the great people we met on holiday, Holiday time is valuable, we all work hard and quality time is at a premium - we were fortunate to spend our week with some great characters : Kirsty & Kyle from Bonnie Scotland. Anne and Roy from Wales, Jen and Adam from Leamington Spa, Jill & Richard (Delilah) from Stoke and Bas and friends - top guys all of you !! Very good for the money...

My girlfriend and I were looking for a week away to chill out in the sun. What a perfect place this was. The room was a lot bigger than we expected and would have slept a family on the additional single sofas. The main bedroom was separated from the living room which had a dining table, sink, fridge, kettle. Was well equipped. We travelled with first choice who I must say were perfect, they were the best priced and we would definitely travel with them again. They try to sell the packages and trips as they have to but whatever you do please don't buy them, there is a shop 300m away where they are 10/15 Euros cheaper per person. Apart from the welcome meeting we had no need to speak to the reps at all although they were around all the time with the kids club looking like they were having a good time. The food was ok although a week was more than enough for us. We are not overly fussy and will eat/try most things but anything can get repetitive after a week. The guests were 70% english so there was plenty of people to talk to. There were quite a few kids but not so many it was a problem and seemed like thwere was plenty for them to do in what was a family friendly hotel complex, The staff were helpful and there was no problem there at all. We read mostly good reviews on here before we went and we have to agree. All in all for the money very reasonable. Would not return, but only becaue there is so much more out there to see. So would recommend it to a friend definitely...
loved it

If you like routines then yes hotel is for you. Food very bland. Very little choice. All inclusive drinks are weak beer and vinegar tasting wine. Anything else have to pay for. Nothing around hotel and the free bus allows you to visit nearby towns for maximum of hour and a half !!!!! Good points the rooms are very clean and spacious. Entertainment is awful. pool can never get a sunbed. Warning if you are taking your teenage girls the staff tend to be attracted to them so be careful

What a fantastic Resort. Food fabulous, entertainment was great. Albert and the team were great. Lots to keep the kids entertained. Mini disco at night and then bingo and then some adult entertainment which was really funny. Have never been to a cleaner resort. It was spotless. Mozzies and wasps were there but no more than being anywhere else. We did get some bites the first couple of days, then they left us alone. Take your sprays and citronella candles and it keeps them at bay. We just lit them on the table at night. The staff were very friendly and where good to the kids. Very quiet place, we didnt hear any noise at night. The Beaches were good the bigger one to left out of the gate was better for the kids. There are a couple of bars and restraunts out of the gate at the bottom by the pool. Would definately return to this resort as we had fantastic time.
just returned from this hotel what a good hotel wide mix of people here from young to disabled and every thing in between very clean and good food pool great and entertainment every evening the only down side is its very remote with nothing apart from a bar by the small... more
