Stegna Star Studios & Apartments Reviews
" Stegna is a great place to stay to... "
Submitted By: Miss L Green
Stegna is a great place to stay to relax and get some sun. The Stegna Star apartments are loacted opposite the beach, and are clean, well-kept and myself and my partner had a lovely stay there.
We stayed in a self-catering apartment, which also had a sofa, TV in the bedroom, and a large balcony. The shower was also really good, which is quite surprising having stayed on various Greek islands and never really had a good shower before! If you are self-catering, would advise bringing or buying a washing sponge/washing up liquid, as this wasn't provided.
The maids were friendly (if a bit loud at 9am in the mornning shouting across to each other), and apartment was kept nice and clean.
With regards to Stegna itself, would say that if you are looking for a holiday with a varied menu, it may not be the best place. Pretty much all of the restaurants focus on the fish dishes, and obviously Greek salads! It was nice, but was getting a little dull by the last day. Also, beware that many do not accept cards at all, and there is no cash point in Stegna. However there is a tourist shop that will give you cash back (with a small charge)- our Cosmos rep told us about this.
Resturants we went to= Stegna Star Restaurant- definitely one of the nicest in Stegna, but we were keen not to eat in the same place we were staying every night (but would recommend the Greek night on Thursdays). Stegna Kozas- a fish restaurant on the corner of the beach as you drive into Stegna- great for fish and very friendly waiters- seems to atttract quite a few locals too. The Knights Castle- more of a touristy place, good to go to if you get bored of fish and Greek salad! Porto Vechio at the other end of the beach was OK- nice views across the beach. Also are a few others along the beach front which are pretty much the same kind of thing.
If you are looking for a bar to go to afterwards, would recommend Jacks Bar- they play a good selection of music and have good live music Tuesdays. Mercedes was also OK, though we avoided kareoke nights. Also a new club called Karnaggio- was absolutely dead when we went there! In fact, it was very quiet the whole time we were there and we were wondering why most of the restaurants seemed half-empty. We were told that there are only about 120 tourists there at any one time (most of them not the clubbing type!)
Weather was boiling hot the whole time we were there- no clouds at all. A bit too hot really, as between 11 and 3 couldn't really lie in sun without getting burnt (and I usually tan rather than burn), so slap on the sun cream.
Would also recommend taking snorkelling gear, as there are some pretty fish and plants to see just a little way out from the beach around some large rocks.
We also did a scuba trip to Kalithea- wasn't expecting it to be great, but was actually pretty cool- saw some nice fish and squid, and also went through some caverns/caves.
Overally lovely, relaxing holiday apart from the time of the flights home (7am, with 3:10am departure to airport!). We paid 30 Euros extra to move to another room until 3am, as otherwise would have been a nightmare!
Hope all that helps!

" just returned from a week staying at... "
Submitted By: Ms Lc Thomson Peat
just returned from a week staying at The Stegna Star Apartments - well what can i say - sun, sea and sand in abundance - excellent food in the Stegna Star's restaurant - brilliant service from all who worked there. An extremely friendly and enjoyable place to visit - quieter than a lot of greek holidays but ideal for those who want to relax and soak up the sun. The apartments are excellent with the rooms being cleaned daily by a lively character who is the life and soul of the Greek night held on Thursday nights. Charlie looks after the sun beds, and i believe owns Stegna Mare next door, is a mine of useful information and anecdotes. I cannot say more than it was one of the best holidays i can remember with quiet beaches and clear blue sea - snorkelling is a must by the way so many different fish to see (they love bread too). I will certainly go again as it is the perfect place to spend time relaxing in beautiful surroundings with excellent accomodation and food.
thank you to everyone who worked there for a really good holiday !!!!!

" Stegna is a exellent resort so... "
Submitted By: Miss R Harris
Stegna is a exellent resort so relaxed and friendly you really can not beat it. Me and my partner when for the first time and will def go back there. there is not one bad thing you can say about it. Nearly everyone we met there had been before and keeps returning.
The apartment its self is A* its clean and spacious everything you need. The beach is just across the road its fab golden sand crystal blue sea and does not get crowded at all. The sun beds and unbrella is 6 euros a day Charlie will come round and collect the money he is a very nice man will do any think to help.
The stegna star restarant is fab really nice food i recomend the sword fish its lovely. All the resturants are great did not have one bad meal. Marias is a lovely little cafe does not look much but the food is A*. you must try the gyros pita its the nicest thing you will try and is only 2 euros. some other great restarants are Antonios the shrimps are great, the knights castle and aroma. Air con is a must but it is expensive at 10 euros a day.
Go a ride into rhodes town it really nice and gives you the experience of old style greece. dont go on the planned trip its 25 euros and all they do it drop you of and pick u back u at a set time. so just catch the bus from out side the apartment at 8.30 am at just 3.00 euros each and its comes back around 2.30 pm just the same but at a fraction of the price. Dont leave without going to one of the icecream stalls they are soo nice, we wanted to go back just for the ice creams.
All round its a fab place to go A***. will be going again next year.

" Great apartments, basically equipped... "
Submitted By: Mr P Ivory
Great apartments, basically equipped but still more than adequate. Cleaned very frequently and towels renewed each day they were cleaned.
Great restaurant attached which was very welcoming and accommodating to our three kids. The beach was good - no need to use the pool available at an additional cost - and sun loungers easily available even if at a cost.
We would definitely holiday here again.

" What a superb place for a chill out... "
Submitted By: Miss J Thursfield-Emms
What a superb place for a chill out holiday. The apartments at Stegna Star were beautifully clean and well appointed.
Katerina and her staff, Mike, Panos, Maria, Zambekos were so friendly and made our stay very memorable and special.
The beach was just over the road with plenty sunbeds ably managed by Charlie and his lovely wife Zambeka, who was so friendly and talkative and couldn't do enough for us.
Also Wendy, the Kosmar rep was excellent, well informed, and friendly. So thank you Wendy.
All in all, if you want to escape from stress and just chill, then Stegna is the place to do, a step back in time.
Only don't tell everyone, it’s too nice a place to spoil.

" Stegna Star apartments and owners... "
Submitted By: Mr D Lennon
Stegna Star apartments and owners were excellent. The maid cleaned our room everyday, restaurant at the apartments was really good as were all the restaurants in the resort.
Special mention to Nikos the kebab man down from the Knights Castle, his kebabs were the best. Beach was lovely and the sea was excellent, great for the kids.
Entertainment at night had to be the one and only Mercedes Bar. Christos, Nikos, Jimmy and Mama Dora made all the family welcome and their hospitality was second to none.
We spent some great nights playing guitar and having a sing song with Christos. Definitely will be back. Sooner rather than later. Love to Stegna from the Scotland Crew man

" My friend and l had a wonderful... "
Submitted By: Mrs S Gettie
My friend and l had a wonderful holiday in Stegna all thanks to Katerina and her family who run the Stegna Star, they couldn’t do enough for us. The apartments were fab and the maid came every day. Stegna is the most idyllic place I’ve ever been and would certainly be going back very soon. My friend [LIZ] and l would recommend Stegna to anyone who is looking for a holiday just to chill out. Once again we want to thank Katrina for being so helpful and friendly to us. One of the other reasons we loved Stegna was that the beach was just across the road from the apartment as is with most of the accommodations in Stegna. The Mercedes bar was great fun and the staff are very friendly. So until the next time 10 out of 10 for Stegna.

" My partner & I stayed in Stegna... "
Submitted By: Mrs L Scott
My partner & I stayed in Stegna Star apartments for 2 weeks
in July '05 the apartments were excellent maid service every day.
After 6 previous Greek Island holidays they were amazing, full bathrooms bath & shower & shower curtain! (Normally unheard of). Very pleasant helpful staff 2 minutes from the beach, excellent Kosmar rep (Jean).
We are going back to Stegna Star in July '06.

Upon consulting our thoroughly inept rep, it transpired that we had paid for the day before we arrived (20 hours to be precise) and so still had to vacate our room. The option of staying in our room for a further six hours was offered at a rate of 20 euros but we couldn't find out if this was a definite and seemed to be down to the whim of the owner who couldn't tell us herself when we asked, she only berated us for leaving it too late (friday) to sort this out but as we had only managed to speak to our fairly absent rep on the thurs, it didn't seem to late for us. It seems that when you have a problem the people you need to speak to are mysteriously hard to find.
We ended up trawling our way through the other apartments in stegna on the friday and manged to get a room for the saturday night for 40 euros that allowed us to stay until our pick up early sunday morning.
So be warned that you may come away from what was otherwise a lovely holiday with a sour taste in your mouth and a sense of being ripped off and slightly out of pocket.
