We have stayed here 5 times now and to be honest wouldn't stay anywhere else. The hotel is in a great location, close to the beach and a 15 min stroll to the old town, rooms are clean and spacious but what makes this hotel so special is the staff. The same staff are there... more

We arrived only to be told that there was no room as the hotel was overbooked. We later found out this was the same for most of the british people. We were transferred to the Hotel Lavita for the night which was supposedly a 3 star even though we had booked a 4 star. When... more

Second visit to Rhodes, first time Rhodes town. Very impressed with resort, hotel in excellent position for all amenities.
Staff very courteous and efficient, food varied and a very good standard. Rooms spotlessly clean. Would stay again.

Hotel was very clean and staff efficient and friendly. We had the same food for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 7 days - very repetitive. Men were expected to wear long trousers for dinner (which is not stated on the website), if you did not you would not be allowed in... more

We have stayed at the Petit Palais hotel for two weeks AI holidays. The hotel is rather NOT 4star, but certainly it is somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Hotel rooms are large, kept clean, comfortably furnished (don't expect orthopaedic beds), Aircon and fridge are... more

Clean hotel and room spacious with good decor. We were all inclusive and the food was fine although we tended to eat out in the evening as there are some lovely restaurants. I was a little unhappy that Diet Coke was not on the all inclusive list and that full sugar coke... more

A wonderfully clean hotel. Most of the staff were very cheerful and helpful. The food was good with plenty of choice, with the exception of snacks at the bar which consisted only of ham salad rolls. My only criticism is that it is the most disabled un-friendly hotel... more

Superb!
After reading some of the less exemplary reviews we were a little concerned before our holiday, however were extremely pleasantly surprised. Hotel was spotlessly clean and in an excellent location. The staff and especially the waiters were polite, helpful and very chatty. Food was fantastic with a great range - something for everyone. Our room was sizeable with a bath and shower ensuite, fridge, individual air conditioning, private balcony and very comfortable bed. Granted the pool is small - it will only accomodate 10-20 people comfortably and the hotel has a capacity of 600 odd. However, the Mitsis Grand over the road has a couple of pools which are large and you can use them free of charge if you want to. We preferred to spend most of our time by the sea which is approximately 50m away. Our balcony had a lovely sea view which the sun set over. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It thoroughly deserves its 4 star rating.
Petit Is certainly the word
The Pool and restaurant are not big enough for the amount of guests they have. The restaurant is so small people cannot move and the tables are so close together and aisles so narrow that you are often bumped in your seat. The food although good quality is poor in selection. At peak times you have to queue. The pool is big enough for a villa but every one in the hotel decided to visit they would all be crushed standing plus it looses the sun in the afternoon. You can use the Grand's pool which is a lot nicer. Beware if you leave your air con on whilst you take an evening stroll they will come in and switch you off!!
Very good city hotel
We have stayed at the Petit Palais hotel for two weeks AI holidays. The hotel is rather NOT 4star, but certainly it is somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Hotel rooms are large, kept clean, comfortably furnished (don't expect orthopedic beds), AirCon and fridge are advantage. Some rooms (as was the ours) overlook other balconies at the rear side and you can't really open the curtains and doors (didn't matter to us), but if you're lucky the front of the hotel has got nice balconies. Swimming pool is small and the area around as well, but comparable to other hotels and beaches are nearby (you can chose from two beaches, one with calm sea, the other one with waves). Not very suitable for children (very welcomed by us). Lovely sitting outside the bar from where you can sit, watch time passing by and observe what is going on. Staff is rude because customers are often rude to them. Little niceties and they smile back. The resort is smashing, within 20 min walk you can reach the walls of the Old town, or a harbour with excursion boats/ferries to many islands. Food was quite good, not too much fat, little bit repetitive, but we enjoyed it. Some dinner meals were exquisite. Considering the price we paid, we were very happy and if we find the same deal we will likely return to explore more from the island and the area around. Jeep Safari day excursion is cool.
Pleasantly Suprised
Before going I had read the other reviews and was ready for the worst BUT we were more than happy with the hotel. We have stayed in many good hotels and altho Petit is not a 4* by many standards it is pretty good for a greek hotel. It is very clean, modern and the rooms are larger than normal, having the fridge and air con was great. Yes the bathroom was pretty small but it has everything you need EXCEPT the shower head has no wall attachment, so its a hand held job. Instead of a shower I had a lovely long soak in the bath. The staff are very courteous, I agree with other reviews that the evening barman isnt the happiest or friendliest person there (I got the impression he doesnt really enjoy his work). We were on AI basis but because we got a bargian deal we ate out every night and only sampled their breakfast, which was adequate, but certainly not the worst I have had in Greece. AI guests do have a restricted bar menu. If you are eating out I highly reccommend the RED Restuarant which is just around the corner heading towards the Casino. We went there on our last night and the food was fabulous. Its a fusion of Greek and Italian, big portions and not too expensive. If you want advise on good greek wine (yes you can get them) speak to Julios, he was very helpful. My hubby had Sole in an orange sauce which was gorgeous and my Tirramasu was the best I've had. Finally, if we came to Rhodes again we would stay at the Petit Palais.
no way a 4*
We stayed at the Petit Palais for 1 week after being shipped across from the Grand because they were overbooked. The food was disgusting the air conditioning was faulty and although we complained daily when writing to our travel agent the hotel denied any knowledge except for the day of arrival when they put new batteries in the remote control. Obviously no one was booking this hotel so the Grand were overbooking to fill it. Will never stay in a Mitsis hotel again
Great hotel
This hotel was much more than I expected. Perfect location in Rhodes town, close to the beach (Eli beach approximately 50m from hotel, blue EU flag) and other attractions makes it even more appealing. Hotel has been recently renovated, rooms are spacious and clean, with A/C, balcony, TV, radio. Bathrooms are big enough, but without any ventilation so it may become like sauna after a shower. Food was excellent, mostly the same, but huge variety of dishes so it was good. For those who love spending time by the pool, it is true that pool area is a bit small, but it did not bother me since I love beaches. Staff is friendly and professional, especially those working in the restaurant. Overall, it was perfect and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to spend vacation on this beautiful island.
ALL INCLUSIVE
My husband and I arrived at the hotel at 2.00 a.m. Sunday 5th June 2005. The Reception we received was very good. The Breakfast was okay, but the lunchtime menu was very sparse. I am not able to eat bread, rice, pasta or potatoe's so the menu was very limited if you are on a special diet. The evening meals were very hit and miss. Sometimes it was okay but sometimes it was diabolical. There were snacks during the day in the bar, but these consisted of Pizza, sausage rolls and rolls. You were not allowed to have icecream as this was not allowed to be taken out of the restaurant. The drinks menu for All inclusive was not very large and we felt we were a second class citizen as the evening bar man seemed to serve the paying customers first. There was only evening entertainment twice weekly with a Karaoke on a Wednesday, which is not everyone's cup of tea and Greek Dancing on a Sunday, It was exactly the same dances every week. It is a shame because the decor was very pleasant and clean and the sheets and towels were changed every day and our room was cleaned every single day and the staff were very pleasant and friendly.
All inclusive Petit Palais
We arrived in Rhodes for the first visit June 2005 - the Petit Palais offered all inclusive - we were very pleasantly surprised by the standard of the room and the hotel. The staff and everyone we encountered in Rhodes were all polite, friendly and never rude. The only minor complaint would be that the food was not always piping hot - however the food was of good quality and the restaurant staff friendly and efficient. Everything was spotless in the hotel and a good standard of service was given. I would recommend both Rhodes and this hotel to anyone - the Old town was especially interesting and full of things to see and do. Well worth a visit or more. If you are in doubt as to where to stay in Rhodes Town, do consider the Petit Palais.
never again
stayed on ai deal ...there were more flies than guests in the restaurant....the table clothes were very dirty and the waiters very rude...the selection of meals was also limited...the barman was very friendly but night time was very boring as there was no entertainment...the only thing good about this hotel is that it is very central so at least you can escape it....nom way was it a four star...
chaotic mealtimes
We visited the PP in early Sept 2004 for a week on an all inclusive basis. First impressions of the hotel were of relief - very well maintained entrance and recetion foyer with efficient and friendly reception staff. The room was on the 6th floor with good sea views over the immediate town towards Turkey . Room had TV but no english speaking channels but otherwise very clean with modern bathroom and well maintained. The whole fabric of the hotel seemed to have been overhauled and modernised except for the 2 lifts which had all the appearances of being about 20 years old. The pool area was well maintained although a bit small for the number of guests at the hotel and no pool bar - a pain having to bring your drinks from the hotel bar. Watch the paving - very slippery when wet and potentially very dangerous for kids although there were few there when we stayed.. The meals were chaotic - all buffet based - as it seemed that there were either not eneogh tables or not eneogh staff to clear and reset. For a quieter time try and get a table in the covered side area. There was ample quantity and choice and breakfasts were ok but the evening meals were always like eating in a canteen not a 4 star hotel. The pizza chef however was excellent and produced a constant supply of differing pizzas - he never seemed to stop working all evening which is more than can be said of one guy behind the counter (I assume to be in charge) as he just stood and watched all evening. All inclusive at the bar was also a mixed experience - only 1 type of bottled beer and the soft drinks came out of a plastic bottle and were always flat! but the cocktails were plentiful and with large amounts of spirit. We spent a couple of days at the beach - the one at the Casino is far better and a lot less windy than the beach nearest the hotel . Very little entertainment in the hotel but the old town and Harbour are both within strolling distance and loads of bars etc in the streets surrounding . On a calm day the boat trip to Lindos is good value at 15ers each as opposed to the 30 ers the reps charge. Taxis cheap and very efficient. All in all we enjoyed our stay in Rhodes but a week was long eneogh with the constant buzz of scooters and mopeds in the Town.
