" Fabulous!! "

Arrived back to a dreary Devon from a fabulous week in the beautiful Greek Island of Kos last weekend. I had originally booked the holiday for just myself and even though a friend came with me, the hospitality and the people working and staying at the Zeus would've kept me entertained.
The hotel is absolutely ideal for anyone wanting to either chill out, venture out and about, and explore the island. Myself and my friend had just gone to chill out and relax, and the hotel was just the ticket. Its spotlessly clean and tidy, it was quiet, its an ideal spot away from the bars and restaurants (the walking distance was not far at all). The owners most definately take pride in this little hotel. The pool is cleaned every day and there were always sun beds available. The owners are very helpful and of course the son Nikolas was very entertaining for all the guests who were in the bar in the evening (or even if you had spotted him in a bar elsewhere!!). Even when you trundled in at silly a'clock with a knee pouring with blood, Tony was on hand with the plasters and of course bottles of water and crisps... the essentials for a first aid kit.
Breakfasts were basic, with the roll and jam, which were absolutely fine but we tended to venture over to T 4 2 every other day for the breakfasts there after a night on the pop - the place is run by an English couple and they were quite happy for us to have the 'childrens breakfast'!! All very reasonably priced.
Our evenings were spent in the restaurents (Rainbow, Waves, Hippocrates), again all very reasonable with fantastic staff and fantastic food. Then onto the bars, we only tended to favour the bars at our end rather than going to the harbour side - especially after a tip off from our 'reps' stating Sydneys was a good night out on a Friday. They were wrong and we had not gone on holiday to do a quiz at 10pm in a bar ??!!!! We enjoyed 'Players' with the lovely Manilos and his brother, with their very friendly staff and DJ. After the music was turned down and our dancing feet needed to take us elsewhere, we usually ended up in Sebastian 2 where we could just sit and chill and meet lots of different people.
We also ventured to the Greek Night up in the village of Zia which was awesome, Kos Town, Tingaki Beach and again seeing Zia during the day for a spot of shopping. We found the whole Kos experience fantastic and great value for money - having brought cash back home.
Could not recommend this place enough. We certainly go back again.

Advice: Very pretty little town with plenty of things to do and see.

Activities: Rainbow and Hippocrates - Fab food and fab prices!!

" idylic ! "

Having just returned from our third visit to Kefalos (second visit to Zeus) we have today booked to return in september for another week.
We both absolutely love Kefalos and feel this wonderful "inner peace " as soon as we wake up on day one. The family are delightful , making everyone welcome in thier spotlessly clean hotel. The pool area is beautiful and never crowded , drinks priced very competitively and nothing to much trouble. We eat in Hubs ,captain Johns and savvas just across the road at the back of Jims supermarket (they are both lovely as well).Beware of "honest john " at Trust rentals as he is a wide boy who would steal from his own grandmother , Katerina is cheaper and more honest.
I could not speak more highly of the Zeus and the family and find it surprising that some people have to travel to a Greek island to discover that hollow doors make a noise when you slam them!.Keep it up Maria , your sort cannot fail to succeed

Advice: perfect for couples who enjoy beach and eating/drinking

Activities: Hubs , Savvas ,Captain Johns ,Bravo,

Good for: Beach

" Me and my boyfriend went to this... "

Me and my boyfriend went to this hotel was we saw it the travel agents ast a great price. we were aware that it was a quite part ot the season and at only 17, we had our doubts.
We arrived on the 28th of may, very early in morning to very friendly and happy employees. Our room was on the 1st floor, and yes the doors do bang, but it doesnt disturb you at all. The rooms were very clean and well kept, the only tiny problem was we asked for extra pillows on the first day but never got them.
The food in the bar in the day time, is really nice and you are always greated with the warmest of smiles were ever you look.
We were by far the youngest couple but there was couples from uni there up to around 70! And it suited everyone!!!
the night life was great as we got friendly with all the reps, and the resteraunts were TO DIE FOR! gorgeous!! the aussie bar and sydneys are fantastic!!! the bubble beach is also fantastic you have to go there! the water sports are veryyyy cheap.
I would definatly recommend this hotel. if you go you will not be disapointed!
Its great weather, great people, food and atmosphere. Definatly would go back again!!!!!

" The hotel Zeus is a lovely hotel for... "

The hotel Zeus is a lovely hotel for young couples and families. The family run hotel is very friendly and very clean and comfortable. The only thing I can fault is the noisey bar which went on well into the early hours and the banging of the doors in the corridors. I didnt get much sleep as my room was not far from the reception and bar area. If you like to party into the night then you wont be dissapointed.

" We visited Kefalos for the first time... "

We visited Kefalos for the first time in June, and have just booked to return. We stayed at the Zeus and will be doing so again in October.

ROOMS
The rooms are spotlessly clean with a large balcony or terrace (we had a terrace). On the website it does mention that some rooms are "semi-basement" we had one of these and it just meant that the wall of our terrace was only slightly higher than ground level. But it was a lovely sun trap in the afternoon. Bathrooms aren't huge, which is to be expected, but they are perfectly adequate. Beds very perfectly fine, not the luxury you would expect from a more pricey hotel but perfectly adequate. You can always ask for an exrtra pillow if one is not enough.

STAFF
All of the hotel staff were excellent Zak and his family will do evrything they can to ensure you have a great holiday. The guys behind the bar are good fun and always very polite. And I could not the fault the cleaners, they worked so hard, from morning till night, but always had time for a smile!

HOTEL IN GENERAL
I have to say previous reviews comment on the noise at this hotel. I can honestly say that I never experienced anything like this. I am a relatively light sleeper, and was not disturbed during our stay. Maybe the position of the rooms makes a difference. But I really did not find noise to be an issue. Breakfast is basic, a roll tea/coffee and squash. But this is sufficient, and if you want more than this, there are plenty of places near by for a fry up. (Try T42, this was our favourite for breakfast). Drinks aer very reasonably priced, and their milkshakes in the hotel are delicious! Foos is also great value with a greek salad only costing around 3 euros.

RESORT
Kefalos is a very quiet resort with a very warm inviting atmosphere! Captain John's and Harry's are great for eating out. As is the little place down the side road by Jim's supermarket I had lovely fresh mackerel!! Demitri and Anthoula at Jim's supermarket are so helpful, always happy to lend advice! Hiring transport is a must, and with how quiet the roads are you don't feel as though you are taking your life in your hands! We hired scooters frot he whole week which only costed 30euros each plus insurance. we hired from Trust, but would not recommend as they tried to claim we had damaged the cooter despite the fact we had pointed out prior to hiring them that they were quite badly scratched. This was however resolved and did not cost us any more. But the added hassle was not welcomed by us! Proces in Kefalos are very reasonable costing around 20-25 euros for a meal with drinks, and varying drink prices dependant on where you went. Melody bar being one of the cheapest along with Maria's.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, and the repeat custom at the hotel speaks volumes! A great famuily run hotel in a great resort! Top Marks all round!

" What can I say? Before we left we... "

What can I say? Before we left we read several reviews and decided to make up our own mind once we were there. The Hotel Zeus is everything and more that you would expect from a Greek Hotel. Hospitality deserves an outstanding score. The family are marvelous hosts and i can not imagine any one having a complaint against them. The sons Manos an Nikolas are pure entertainment in the bar area, as well as being excellent ambassadors of the hotel. The Greek evening was fabulous you almost felt as though you were intruding on special family time because they all made you so much part of their family unit. Yes the doors of the rooms do slam but that is down to the type of doors fitted nothing to do with hotel standards or the type of people staying there. Cleanliness is one hundred per cent can not be faulted.
We actually felt like virgin travellers at the hotel as so many of our fellow guests had been there not just once or twice but with one particular couple nine times and i for one believe that that alone speaks volumes for the hotel.
Kefalos itself is a paradise of friendliness, excellent food and amazing scenery. I can not think of a better place to go be it first, second, tenth time to Greece. Go to Hotel Zeus and you will come away feeling as though you have met some very special people as well as having an amazing holiday. It is not a hotel for groups of young single groups but very much a couple/young family hotel.

" Very clean hotel. Good pool.... "

Very clean hotel. Good pool. Breakfast was ok, but the hotel was very VERY NOISY! Most of the noise being made by doors slamming, any noise echoes throughout the hotel, the noise was being caused by the very lively bar until at times 0330hrs! On several occasions bar staff were saying goodbye to people leaving to return home and it was the bar staff voices shouting "goodbye, glad to see you" etc at the top of their voices. The bar staff being the owners sons. When a complaint was made to the rep, she promised to make enquiries. The reply received was very nochulent, in a don't care manner, with the owners comments being "we cannot help noise when people are leaving to return home". Be aware if you book this hotel it will be very noisy, there is no point in complaining, make sure that your room is in the second half of the hotel, although several other families aired their opinion about the noise levels also. We have stayed at several other hotels in the Kefalos resort and although these have been on the main road, we have never had noise levels anything like this to endure for 7 nights. We have not had a restful holiday and we will never ever consider returning to Hotel Zeus or recommending it to others. The body of this text will also be sent in an email to KOSMAR our holiday agent.

" Brilliant!

My boyfriend... "

Brilliant!

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week's holiday at the Zeus Hotel and it was fantastic!

Admittedly, the rooms are basic, like everywhere in Greece, but they and the whole hotel were extremely clean and tidy. Maria at the pool bar was lovely, as were the rest of the family, and really made our stay memorable.

I would have to recommend the Rainbow's resturant, about a ten minute walk from the Zeus. The food and service were excellent, huge portions for minimal prices (2 main meals, 2 desserts and 2 rounds of drinks came to 20euro). Mikalos and Yannis the waiters were also excellent and taught us greek every night!

I would also recommend the Dolphin Rock Bar, just over the road from the Zeus. If you like rock music and cocktails then this is the place! Quite expensive, at 4.50euro for one cocktail, but so worth it! The staff here, Manilos and his brother Costa also made our stay memorable, and even offered us jobs there at the end of the holiday!

Overall, the Zeus Hotel was excellent, i can only see two downsides:
*The breakfast was not up to much, just a bread roll, jam and tea/coffee or orange juice. I'm not complaining as this was ample, but there was no variety so we found ourselves having a cooked breakfast at T.4.2. just around the corner which was lovely.

*The Kosmar Rep for the hotel was terrible. She was very rude and I only ever saw her twice throughout the week when she should have been there at least 5 times! Things were that bad that the First Choice Rep knew our names by the end of the week, even though we didn't travel with them!

However, despite two downsides, the Hotel Zeus is a really lovely place to go for a holiday in Kos, i cannot think of anywhere else I would have rather had been for that week and i would love to return!

" Just got back fom the Zeus Hotel... "

Just got back fom the Zeus Hotel (June 7th - 14th 2008), We probably went the week before the season actually kicked off so very quiet night life. The Zeus is definately a 2 start hotel, and whilst it is kept extremely clean and the staff are very pleasant, the beds are extremely hard (I in the end had to resort to sleeping on top of blankets provided to try and make the bed softer), and as mentioned in other reviews, it can be at times noisy with doors shutting. This isn't necessarily because people are being inconsiderate, the doors are hollow and no matter how softly you try and shut them, they make a noise. We stayed in room 108, which is on the ground floor and faces onto some gardens and I guess faces West, as we watched the sun sets a couple of nights. Because these rooms don't get the sun until later on in the day, they are relaively cool and we didn't need the air con. The only draw back is that because of being on the ground floor, we didn't feel we could leave the doors open at any time (other than when we were in), and also on a night, it would have been nice to sleep with the doors open but anyone could have jumped down onto your small veranda and come in. The breakfast as mentioned in other write ups is basic, a tea-cake with jam, coffee or tea and orange juice. sometimes it was sufficient due to eating late the previous night, but other times we went for a cooked breakfast at Hubs which is just on the front road on the right. I must recommed Rainbow's restaraunt, about 1/4 of a mile up on the left hand side, really good food and cheap prices (set meal for 9 euro), big helpings and you sit looking out onto the beach. We did stay in at the hotel one night for the barbeque and were dissapointed. It cost 7.50 euro each and was 3 very small kebabs, a plateful of rice and salad. Food elsewhere is far superior but the food during the day is fine for a snack. Transfer time from the airport is 20 mins. I would urge people to be careful where they drink. We went into a bar just up the road from the Zeus (A big red guitar on the roof), and at the end of the night paid the bill for everyone and went on our way, the other couple we found out the day after had also paid the bill, so both parties had paid the same bill but despite going back to complain nothing was done as the bar man said he had sent all the receipts off so couldn't check. We did hear of it happening again later that week so do make sure that you pay for drinks as you have them, so a tab can't be run up. Also don't buy any perfumes in resort. The shops have the copies in, but one of them also claimed to have the originals, so I paid 30 euro and didn't think to open it until I got home only to discover it was a copy (and a bad one at that). If you smoke all the shops tend to be the same price, but there is a supermarket about 1/2 a mile up on the left hand side (this is where I got the perfume!), they don't charge commision if you use a credit card and the price tends to be 28 euro for 200 cigs at a time (£23.00), needless to say I used both my allowance and my other halfs and brought the full quota allowed (enough fags for a year). Bus's to Kos aren't that frequent, we caught the 10.30 to Kos town and the 4.30 back (as we read the timetable wrongly, watch out we weren't the only one). It costs 3.60 euro each way. It seemed very expensive in Kos town and wasn't the bargains I was expecting (earing that you would see in Claire's for 12 euro!, bags, leather, jewellery again very expensive). All in all would probably go back at sometime as it is quite cheap to eat and drink, but would stay elsewhere.

" ZEUS HOTEL is FANTASTIC!

ZEUS HOTEL is FANTASTIC!

June-08 From the moment we arrived we were struck by how clean and tidy the hotel is. The Lounge/Bar area is very comfortable, the room was a good size and well layed out, the pool is superb! Probably the best located hotel in Kefalos being set back away from the main roads and farly private, little bit away from the main centre of bars/restaurants, but there is plenty of quality choice nearby and the Beach is a just a short walk away!

The Owners, Staff and Family were very nice and friendly! they layed on a Bbq/Greek night which was great fun!

We couldnt have wished for a better place!

RECOMMENDATIONS:

GOOD EATING
RAINBOW TAVERNA RESTAURANT : Is a must visit! Fantastic Food and Quality Service at a Good Price! along with the biggest size portions around. Mike and Ianis are very welcoming and entertaining. Try the BBQ Chicken!
Check out Mikes dancing here > http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WADfwC2-efg “not our video!”

MANOS - 24hrs : Great (gyros) Kebab and chips!

CAR/QUAD RENTAL
MANOLIS - very close to Zues Hotel.
Best Prices, no hidden costs - No extra insurances needed or deposits - No fuss!
Good Quality Service!

(We did get stung by two other firms)

SUPERMARKETS
Plenty of shops and do shop around, prices vary alot! Good one at the end of the lane that runs past Zues Hotel, nice afternoon walk.

THINGS TO DO
Visit ZIA! about 20-30 mins drive towards Kos town, Fantastic Mountain side taverns and shops.

Explore all the roads leading from and around Kefalos old village, you never know where they lead you but you'l enjoy the fantastic views and find the unexpected!

ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY! WE DID AND WE WILL BE BACK.

" What a great place!!!!!
Yes the... "

What a great place!!!!!
Yes the hotel can be a little noisey BUT the people are brill. We had are very nice time the local cafe' and bars were very good and the beach was great.

We had serveral days out on the local buses to Kos which we found to be ok, at the end of the day this was just a bus ride which took us about a hour. You can see more of the island in a car but for people on a tight buget it was great.

We visited the ruins in kos which were very interesting but one of the major sites was closed due to repairs(but that will give us something to see next time).

The local resturant owners were very welcoming and the prices were very good too.
If you want a basic holiday with a nice beach and nice host's go here.

WE WILL BE BACK!

" Returned yesterday after a fantastic... "

Returned yesterday after a fantastic holiday, met some lovely people there and many had been there on several occasions. Hotel rooms were clean and well looked after, reception/bar area were far better than expected and Zak, Maria, family and staff were excellent. We have always said that we want to try different places for our holidays but having found Kefalos so peaceful and pretty, the Hotel Zeus so good we are hoping to go back again next year.

We tried many places to eat and found all of them to be friendly without being intrusive, food was wonderful and had no complaints. T42 near to hotel did excellent breakfast and a wonderful cup of tea. Thanks you Zak & Maria, Nicholas and everyone.

Jane and Rob if you should read this, thanks again for making our holiday great.

" The place is kept spotless and... "

The place is kept spotless and although it is noisy at times it is our fellow guests who bang the doors at all times of the morning. The lack of a fridge doesn't bother us.

Zak & Maria and the family run this hotel like clockwork. My wife and I have stayed here before and will do so again as have many guests who return year after year.

The resort itself is just lovely and the many restaurants and tavernas serve up good food at keen prices.

If you want a good breakfast try the Riverside Cafe, run by Jean from Scotland. 5 Euros for full 'English' which includes black pudding.

The Memory bar down by the harbour is a comfortable hang out for a pre meal drink in the evening.

The Hotel bar can be quite lively until late at night. Nick don't bother trying for the X factor, as Simon Cowell wouldn't appreciate your singing voice.

Looking forward to our next visit already.

Yassou.

" Just returned from Zeus Hotel. Had a... "

Just returned from Zeus Hotel. Had a lovely time. Hotel is in a nice spot surrounded by open countryside. It has with no traffic noise being one block back from coast road. But the walk to beach is still only 5 mins away.

Breakfast is enough to start you on your day.Check out 'T42' if you need a big brekkie!

Bar area was very comfortable and airy. The friendly staff were very helpful, Thanks again for lift up to village for the chemist!!

The rooms extremely clean and chambermaids NOT intrusive at all.

The resort gets busier with restaurants and bars as you walk towards the harbour which is probably only a good 20mins away.

We enjoyed trying different restaurants in the week, they all do Greek specialities.
Antonios/Four seasons was lovely as you could sit at the beach/shoreline and waitresses very charming!

We also went to the small cove of Limionas which is very peaceful (got a great taverna)
and some ducks!!

The main beach in Kefalos was very spacious and relaxing .....Sunbeds spread out so you don't feel crowded.

Would recommend Kefalos as a good resort to anyone NOT wanting all-night 'clubs' but still wanting a night out! But as the island is small you can get about to visit the other resorts.

Would return to KOS <KEFALOS<ZEUS HOTEL!

" My Wife and I and 2 boys (15 &... "

My Wife and I and 2 boys (15 & 13) stayed at Zeus for 2 weeks. Zak and Maria who own/run Zeus are v. friendly and they and their staff work hard - nothing is too much trouble.
Drinks and snack bar food cheap (and very good) rooms just fine. At the price we paid for two weeks no real complaints.

The only gripe I would have is inconsiderate people slamming doors late at night, although in a place that is all tiles. Ceramics, hard surfaces and no carpets you are bound to get some noise.

We had a great time and met some top people there. Many had been back several times which says it all really. We would certainly go back. Hats off to Zak and Maria.
