I'm surprised that I am still the only person that has left feedback on the Folies Apartments as everyone we speak to always say how much they like them and would/will come back.
We have now stayed in room 5 for four years in a row and already booked for next year.
The resort remains very quiet and peaceful with few new developments and most half built villas remaining unfinished. The pool at the Eagles Nest remains unfinished as expected as are the apartments at the back of Folies, although we did see work starting on them at the beginning of Sept. so maybe we will have a local pool to swim in next year.
It you hate the hustle and bustle of busy package holidays then Lourdas remains a great retreat to unwind from busy days at work back in the UK. Don't expect any entertainment to be available though but Argostoli is only 20 mins away by car and it remains really vibrant and interesting in the evenings.
A new beach has been opened up around the headland of Lourdas bay although it is only accessible by car - the beach is called Koroni and has a fab little beach cafe and umbrellas - seriously worth a visit
Having spent nearly 20 years 'doing' package holidays Kefalonia, Lourdas and the Folies Apartments remain the best that money can buy. We have also always been very happy with Kosmar and would have no hesitation recommending them.

This is the fourth year in a row that we have been to Folies Apartments through Kosmar. Naturally they may not be everyone’s taste but if you are looking for peace and tranquillity and the most fantastic view of Lourdas beach and the bay then these are the apartments for you.
There are about nine apartments most being for two occupants but the top floor (of three) has two 2 bedroomed apartments, one for 4 people and one for 5. These are the best rooms as they have the best views.
YOU WILL NEED A CAR as the apartments are up a steep hillside and about a five minute walk down to the beach but a 20 minute hike back!! Lourdas beach is sandy/shingle and whilst nice is not the best. You can drive fifteen minutes either in the direction of Argostoli or Katelios for much nicer beaches. Try Kaminia beach (turtle nesting beach and so nature reserve) for best sand and clear water.
Apartments are basic but adequate and cleaned by the owner and her team on a Sunday and Wednesday. Each apartment has its own hot water tank (you switch on and off) which is great and we have never run out of hot water.
Don’t go to Lourdas for the night life - there isn’t any!! - only about a dozen restaurants and a couple of lounge bars.
Helpful hints: 1. Bring a shower slip mat if you have kids. 2. Take suntan lotion with you as its double/triple the price in Kefalonia. 3. Shop at the LIDL supermarket on the way into Argostoli as its half the price of others. 4. You can use any local hotel pools on the island as long as you buy some icecreams/beers etc. 4. Don’t rent your car before going out or from the airport, there is a hire company called Perfanis in Lourdas where you can strike a bargain. 5. Don’t bother being polite when you drive; no one else does. 6. Visit Argostoli at night, its vibrant up till about midnight.

Just come back from the Folies apartments. They were basic but were very clean and the building is very secure.
Loudas is very quiet and not suitable for children as there is no entertainment and everywhere is an uphill walk! We went for a relaxing break and you can’t do much else but that, it’s perfect.
A car is useful for the hills and the island isn’t too big to be able to see the different towns etc. The pool is finished at eagles nest now and I have spoken with the owner. She is a very nice lady and is running her own website taking direct bookings. We could not use her pool, but she did mention that she is thinking about opening a pool bar and will the allow Folies guests the use of it as she needs to cover the upkeep of the pool - fair enough.
