Dreadful hotel and staff

Staff were rude and unhelpful rooms were not clean. The service in the restaurant was awful. The food was terrible. Worst holiday we have ever had. Other guests we spoke to said the same thing. This hotel should not have any star rating.

I have stayed five times at the Don Miguel. It is a very pleasant, clean and friendly hotel. I see the same staff on each visit, and they could not be more helpful and friendly. The food is acceptable, good and plentiful. The small detractions are a lack of air conditioning... more

Would not recommend this hotel

Hotel dining room staff were very rude and unhelpful. The meals were at set times and guests were shouted at if they were late. The food was of poor standard and service was also very poor. Hotel catered mainly for the Germans. Hotel should be rated 2 star.

The Don Miguel is a 3 star hotel in the centre of Playa del Ingles. It is approximately 1.5 Km from the beach but a courtesy coach runs from the hotel several times of day. The main shopping centre, The Yumbo (a bit of a concrete jungle) is less than 200metres away. This... more

Its tourism for the Teutonic Hordes- but really quite a nice hotel from Tastydogs
I arrived here somewhat dishevelled having been bounced out of the Liberty Apartments next door through overbooking. I thought all the staff were charming. Urbane receptionists full of calming encouragement & cheery chamber maids always up for a quick 'Hola!' The clean room was pretty good with a strong power shower & whilst not all the rooms had great views none overlooked the busy intersection outside. My double bed was in a room which might have been a bit small for 2 but for 1 was fine. The balcony was functional but only rooms... more

I spent a week at the Don Miguel, January 2006. It is a spotlessly clean hotel, it was busy but well staffed and despite the number of guests it was quiet at night times and I had no problems sleeping because of noise. The food was good and choices never ran out. There was a choice of continental or cooked breakfast. We took half board option and were pleased we did as the evening meals were also good and varied. Always a great place to stay from wallcova
I have stayed in the hotel several time over the last 10 years and have always found both it and the staff to be first class. It is clean and bright, great food and very helpful staff who seem to enjoy helping you. It's also just across the road from the Yumbo which is a great help more

Stayed last week of October and had fantastic weather - up to 30* some days. The hotel is extremely clean with fantastic staff and reasonable food. It is well positioned for visiting the various bars (night life) being situated in the middle of the town on a busy main road (being near a para medic centre sirens were prominent during the day on our stay) It is 1.5km from the nearest beach but you can catch the hotel courtesy bus. We stayed in Riu D. Miguel for a week in September. The rooms are not very big , but everything else is great. People are super friendly, the food is great ( nice breakfasts and dinners) and the hotel has animation every night with singers, dance, circo... it is very well located in Tirajana Av. and do rent a car and go to Playa de Amadores. ( forget Playa DEL iNGLES). more

Two of us booked christmas and new year at the Riu Don Miguel this year. We found it to be an extremely friendly hotel. The staff could not be faulted for their helpfullness and friendliness - even after losing the key for the safe. The rooms were clean and the cleaning staff were excellent and friendly. I cannot believe this hotel is not a 5 star. I have stayed here probably 10 times over the past few years and found the staff, food, and quality of room all first class. The hotel is ideally situated so that everything you need (shops, bars etc..) are only a short walk away. I have recommended this hotel to a number of people over the years and they have all thoroughly enoyed their time in the Don Miguel. Try it, you won't be disppointed, all other hotels seem inferior after staying here. more

OK for a break from Pencroft
It was our first time in the Grand Canaries and we were just in search of the sun (April 2002), the first couple of days were warm but very windy, but then it calmed down. The resort, unbeknown to us before our arrival, is full of gays and transvestites, but it wasn't a problem and we were left alone I am lad to say.
